118012 I don't know if I can finish The Jungle before the end of January. How are the rest of you doing?

118012 How about reading while you soak your feet? That's a vaguely tub-related activity!
Jan 29, 2017 03:17PM

118012 Exactly!

118012 This single book challenge is only good for one month! From February 1 to February 28.

Mission: Find and read one book with a title that SOUNDS LIKE a Romance but is NOT a Romance. This could mean hearts, flowers, pink, love, letters, heartbreak. Have fun with it!

Some Non-Romance titles:
Flowers for Algernon
White Oleander
Red Dragon
The Pink Suit
Beloved
Sputnik Sweetheart
Heart of Darkness

P. S. I don't hate Valentine's Day. Who could hate a holiday devoted to chocolate?

118012 Chocolate. Red Licorice. Conversation Hearts. Bon-bons. Sweet things and Valentines just go together!
Mission: Read one book with something sweet in the title.

Examples:

118012 Trying something different...
A task oriented challenge. Four Tasks to be done during the month of February. This can be done with any book or even with the same book on different days.

Task 1: Read in bed.
Task 2: Read in the bathtub.
Task 3: Read aloud to someone you love.
Task 4: Read while eating chocolate.

Enjoy!

118012 Great job, Ladies!!

118012 Rosemarie made that up about Harry Potter. I'm not that old. I'm not that old. I'm not that old. *whimpers*

118012 Lol. I'm having that tattooed on my forehead!

118012 Excellent TBR bashing! Go, Jenny!

118012 I was wondering about that just from previewing the illustrations and knowing how things were portrayed in those times (and long after). I'm reading Prairie with an advanced student and thinking about how to handle that discussion when it comes up.

118012 Welcome, Nurlygurl. Glad you've decided to reawaken your membership here. There are lots of new things to try.

118012 Hi, Sarabi! You've been missed. Did you say you're living in China right now? That's so cool!

As to the challenge... Anywhere in Asia works. Also, books about the Asian experience in a non-Asian country, like Girl in Translation.

118012 Am about halfway through. Seriously depressing book. Gross, too.
Depressing=life of workers. Gross=meat packing practices.
Jan 24, 2017 01:29AM

118012 So good though!
Bleak House is one of my favorites.
