118012 I started stage new year off with a few classics...
The Odyssey (rereading since I want to try Ulysses this year)
Last of the Mohicans
Our Mutual Friend
Dance to the Music of Time (book one)

I'm probably going to have to break it up with something light, but I don't know what yet.

118012 Hi, Sonia! Glad to have you with us! Yes, we're always trying to push our own envelopes and try new things. It's a lovely supportive group. I think you'll like it here. :)

118012 Holly- there's always summer break! ;-)

Clare- so great to start the year with Eleanor and Park! One of my favorites!!

118012 Yes! Congrats, Holly!

118012 Okay. I'm not sure what I did the first time, but I found a few webpages that should do nicely. Links are included above. Thanks for calling my attention to the problem, Jess.

118012 Hmm. That's not the link I thought it was. Let me do a little sleuthing to figure out what went wrong.

118012 Madeline-
You may not be able to edit or link titles from your Kindle if using the GR app. For those things you must go to the actual website. I have the same dilemma so I know what a pain it is!

The app is great for basic comments, updating status and lots of other things. But the website just offers so much more. I do my daily check-ins via smartphone and I love the app for that, but for setting up threads and editing my challenges I have to access through my browser.

118012 Woohoo! I love when there's lots of soup on the stove! It's such a fun challenge. Especially when we get down to the last few letters! :D

118012 Looking forward to what you have to say about The Price of Salt. I haven't read Highsmith but there are a few of her books that look intriguing.

118012 Roxanne,
It's not a stupid question at all. I expected that some things might need clarification. The blue cover/white cover/silver lettering/etc. are exactly what they say. Look for books with silver lettering on the cover or have a blue cover, etc.

We tried to create a mix of categories so there would be lots of options. So some blocks are genre specific, some speak to writing style, some to era of publication, and some are simply about judging a book by its cover. :)

118012 You, too, Allison! You've added some great challenges!
Jan 02, 2016 01:24PM

118012 You are in for a treat, Cindy. Dorothy L. Sayers is one of my favorite authors! And, yes, any author that's new to you counts!

118012 BasesLoaded,
That always used to stump me, too. I tell my students to think of the columns outside buildings. Rows go across. Columns are up and down.

118012 I love getting books as gifts. It's like, "Yes! You were paying attention!"
Jan 02, 2016 11:43AM

118012 Great choice! That's a fascinating book. :)
