I enjoy Chesterton. He’s somehow completely unique.

118012 Finished Gambit. It was a good introduction into the Nero Wolf series I enjoyed the voice of Archie Goodwin as Wolf’s secretary/gumshoe.

Starting The Laughing Policeman, which is on several Best Mystery lists

118012 Finally tracked a Rex Stout on audio. So I’ve started GAMBIT. It’s something like #37 in the series but got good reviews here at GR, so I thought I might as well give it a try. :)

118012 I’ve not read any Rex Stout. I see that it’s the first in a series… Was it also your first or have you read others and are tracking back to the early works?

118012 I just read the blurb and it sounds like quite clever and delightful.

118012 Started The Mysterious Mr. Quin. Christie never lets me down.

118012 Finished The Hound of the Baskervilles. By far ACD’s best novel. Although I love them all for different reasons.

118012 I’ve been working my way through the two 100 Best lists from the 1990s (lots of crossovers):

118012 No. That sounds awesome!

118012 I think I’m going with Jill the Reckless because you just can’t beat Wodehouse for lighthearted storytelling.

118012 I’m in, too. It would be good for me to get back to where my reading had more focus.

118012 I’ve got three keyed up with a scarf theme: Christmas Scarf Murder
118012 That was great advice! I finally made it through!
As historical fiction, it was a decent book. But I wish I’d known going in to it, that it would be so un-Dickensian.
118012 Good to know that about Barnaby Rudge. I’m still plugging away.
118012 Thanks, Cindy! Just added it to my TBR. :)

I’m reading Barnaby Rudge by Dickens. It’s set in the late 1700s apparently there are some pretty violent anti-Catholic riots up ahead. (The only other historical Dickens is The Tale of Two Cities.) So far it has been slow going, but the next section picks up 5 years later so I have hopes that the plot will start taking off.
118012 I just read the blurb on The Wager, Cindy. Was it as gripping as it sounds?
118012 I am thoroughly jealous of both accomplishments, Ladies! Both Plutarch and Augustine have waited patiently on my TBR list for a very long time. Congratulations!

118012 Ooo! Can’t wait to hear what you think!

118012 I read Ursula LeGuin’s The Lathe of Heaven. It had a really interesting premise and the writing is just top drawer. I’ve been thinking about it quite a bit since finishing.

118012 Heehee. 😉 Loved that!
I’m going to link Bitesized Audio here if that’s okay with you. I just “subscribed” so I can catch his other recordings. :)
