118012 Oh My God! Such a great story! You're absolutely right... Oh, The Feels!!!

118012 I found a fun series of podcasts on the sonnets. It's called "Shakespeare's Sonnets" and is an Inner Ear Production.

118012 Welcome, Emma and Hayley!

118012 I know! Right after I typed it , I started thinking "I should do that!" I'm going with Elizabeth Klett
From Librivox. There are actually 4 versions but I really like her readings of other things. There are 154 so I'll have plenty of time that way.

I'm also thinking about The Rape of Lucrece. Mostly because I didn't know about it until I saw your list. And the Histories. I've read/seen most of the comedies and tragedies at least once each. But the histories seem harder to come by.

118012 Great to have you along for this, Dana!

118012 Good for you, Dana!
Will you spend the sonnets out? Like one a day or something?

118012 I'm so glad to hear that, Cindy. I loved Gaudy Night. It's from later in Peter's career and involves Harriet Vane, who is wonderful. I also particularly liked Murder Must Advertise and The Nine Tailors.

118012 I'm so glad this challenge got your started with Lord Peter. The books do get better, but it's good to have read Whose Body? In it you see LP when he's rather young and just after the war. The PTSD that comes into play in some of the other novels has its roots here. I love that Sayers has her characters age and mature through the novels. It's not necessary to read them in order but I think it's most satisfying to do them chronologically.

118012 Sounds interesting, Sam. I've seen several books recently that feature lead characters struggling with Alzheimer's or dementia.

118012 Great to hear, Beth. This mini-challenge doesn't really take off until the 2016 released really get under way.

118012 Thanks for sharing this idea, Angela! It's a very clever way of keeping track.

118012 I read that last year, Sam. I can imagine it makes an especially strong impact on readers of the same age as the characters. Glad you enjoyed it as well.

118012 It is a fabulous book! I read it quite awhile ago, when so many of the things Atwood taljs about seemed eerily possible. So glad you enjoyed it, Josh :)

118012 It's great that you're finding your way around. We have a Questions thread if you have any. There's always a lot going on. Take your time and settle in. It's a happy place to be. :)
118012 It's something new we're trying so feel free to improvise. Ask questions that the story makes you think about or things you'd Ike to discuss. Try not to ask things that include spoilers.

Lots of times just having a few questions will get the conversation started... Although not everyone will choose to respond to the questions.

118012 Great choice!

118012 This is a reread for me. After about 30 years. I read it in high school and again in college. I remember really loving it. I'm a few chapters in so far and thoroughly enjoying myself. There are so many characters and elements which have become part of our popular culture.

I'm part of a discussion group at the link below if you're interested. :) https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

118012 I love the beginning of a new month! New reading plans, New squirrels to avoid. ;-)

118012 Renamed to encourage discussion of early Science Fiction writers. This could include Jules Verne, H. G. Wells, Mary Shelley or any authors who were writing sci fi before its Golden Age.

118012 I renamed this thread to include a general discussion of Margaret Atwood's life and work.
