Mer Lovers: Collector's EditionBookBubs found this for me on sale and I couldn’t resist a little sexy time for Merfolk May.
Just saw on IMDb that they are rebooting Quantum Leap with Jewel Staite (Firefly) and Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters) with Helen Shaver (Poltergeist: The Legacy) directing.

That was excellent and a good reminder about who writes history and how it gets reinterpreted. Now, in the prequel, there will be black elves. Fantasy is still catching up to Star Trek, who got it right the first time around.
The Black God’s Kiss (1934) by C. L. Moore ★★★ ½☆ “To wreak my vengeance upon Guillaume I would go if I knew I should burn in Hell forever.”
After her lands are invaded and subjugated Jirel ventures to the underworld to seek a weapon rather than be raped by Guillaume and his men.
The underworld parts of the story were pleasantly Lovecraft-y, but the ending… This is my second read and I’m not only disappointed but confused. Were demons twisting her great love into seeming like a great enemy?
The Tower of the Elephant by Robert E. Howard ★★★★☆ My first Conan story! I enjoyed the adventure as much as the sexualized clever barbarian. The combination of Yog-Sothoth and Ganesh gave the story a charming otherworldly quality. Conan didn’t get the gem but made the world a better place.
Manly Wellman is the most masculine name I have ever come cross. Even better was his background of growing up in the last days of Stone Age society. My first S&S was Red Sonja, which I adored as a kid. Yes, I know it’s considered a bad movie, I don’t care. I wanted to be a six-foot red-headed sword-wielding bad-ass babe. Genetics didn’t roll that way but it’s a nice thought.
Out of hundreds of TV/YouTube plastic surgeries, I have seen two good facelift in my life. Good as in they look like themselves ten years younger and well rested. But everyone feels better for having done it and their increased confidence makes them look better. Here’s one of the two: https://youtu.be/mCl_4nsgP1A
It’s more than just surgery, it’s all the fillers. Better to look damn good for your age like Tom Selleck, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Christine Baranski, Sandra Bullock, Julianna Margulies, etc.
I saw The Lost City yesterday. The early part is absolutely hilarious and then it’s funny light. It was a reminder of how good Sandra Bullock is at physical comedy.
I’ve only read Black God’s Kiss which was included in The Future is Female! Women's Science Fiction Stories from the Pulp Era to the New Wave, but I recognized several names.
