Imagine Friendly Review

Welcome to the world of evil mermaids and maligned beautiful mermen desperate for commitment and insta luv. Now that’s a scenario in need of some human ladies!

This was by no means a best-of PNR. It started off with insta sex and that’s a bore.

These stories were neither hot enough to be erotica or good enough to be worth recommending as romance. But I’m not sorry I read them, mermen are sexy!

Woohoo Merfolk May!

I'm so sad the books 2 and 3 were nowhere near the marvel that book 1 was.
1. The Merman's Kiss: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Chef's kiss! Perfection! Wholesome, fast paced and yet deeply impactful.
2. The Merman's Quest:⭐⭐⭐
It was aight. MMC annoyed me initially and the overwhelming lust the characters experienced did nothing to mitigate that.
3. The Mermaid's Heart: ⭐⭐⭐
This one was more complicated than book 2, and having already read 2 books in this series, my thoughts are a bit more nuanced. The excessive sex diminished the overall positives of the story. I understand that mermaids are evil sex-machines and the MMC is young (horny teen?), but still. It bothered me how he went from "omg, i don't like this, I don't want this" to "omg yea i'm about to fuck this beaut, that's awesome". He can acknowledge their objective beauty while still having the agency to not want to have intercourse with some rough random strangers that accosted him out of nowhere. Sexual assault is sexual assault, and we can leave it at that without trying to make it palatable.

Good world of Merpeople

The 1st story sucks you in to a Great world of Mermen/mermaids with a twist on the dynamics of the net species. The 2nd story was OK, but felt VERY rushed like. Like a short story OF a short story. It seriously leaves you want/needing more that never get. The 3rd Story of the Net Trilogy Was as Great/Fantastic as the 1st one. Tied well with 1st storyline but barely anything of the 2nd one and again left hanging for some things with that line. But ending of 3rd Story was good just wished Author have more story completion towards the 2nd storyline Characters. Which is why have give lower rating.

Strange mates

I really enjoyed this box set. It was a fairly lighthearted romp with mermaids, mermen and humans. And the perfect foil to the previous series I read, which was dark. With Mer-lovers there is a HEA at the end of each story. Each coupling was believable and explicit, showing romance, love and lust. The relationships were very natural and explored the differences each species has. Beautifully written and dotted with drawings, I was left with a warmed heart.

Tamsin Ley has created a really unusual mer society. There are a lot of legends about sirens, who have always be depicted in legend as female. Ms. Ley is the first to ask what mer society would be like if the mermen do not have the same vocal talents. What she has created in this inverted society and the interaction between male and female mer is very original and very thought-provoking. What an amazing exploration of gender roles and biology!

Could’ve been a great concept. But the stories were either too shallow or maybe too short to be good. Listened to the audiobook and the narrator was obviously not professional, stumbling over words frequently. Still. I listened to all 3 stories so it gets two stars. It was a total escape with no angst and more sex than plot.

I have enjoyed these three mermaid/merman stories since they first came out as individual books. Now this book includes not only the three stories but some illustrations as well. I love this collection.

This is the most awesome book! There used to be books w illustrations every chapter or so. Remember? Then that stopped, no more illustrations. This book has them again! Hooray! So fun. Illustrations aside, this book has a good story too. Mermen? Oh, yes! So I recommend w two thumbs up. ❤️

MerPeople...yes, please

Really neat mermen & mermaid red. It was a fun, schmexy, quick read. I enjoyed all the short stories. The stormiest were within one family but each had an HEA.

A collection of three novellas connected by characters and the theme of mermaids.
Word of caution: in the first story, the main character attempts suicide.
Ravyn Humphrey's black and white illustrations are sensuous, complementing the steamy love stories.

I am really unsure how to rate it.

At the beginning it mentions that this is not an erotic book but for me it felt es if it somehow was.

I liked the first story and even the third part of the triology was good. Still all of them where just to short and rushed. Not fleshed out.

You get three wonderful stories, two are about a merman finding his love and the third is about a mermaid. They are all related but are complete stories on their own. They are romantic with endearing characters and the world building is quite detailed and Ebby has a companion pet which gives a smile on you face while reading her story. The stories are:
The Mermaid's Kiss
This is a short story about Zantu and Briana. Briana has just suffered with a miscarriage and depression and is reevaluating her bad marriage. She decides to jump off a pier with weights tied around her. On her way down a man appears and kisses her and she gets dizzy. When she wakes up, she sees Zantu a merman and she underwater. Zantu who has been hurt by the mermaids and is distrustful of any women is longing deep inside for a lasting relationship. Is Briana different, can she be the one?
Merman's Quest
This short story is about Rubac and Madison. Rubac's mate died and he has to find a mate soon or he will pass away. When he spies Madison who is documenting a new breed of dolphins, he jumps onto her boat. Madison wants the fame and Rubac wants revenge because the female mermaids are abandoning the males for humans. When they start feeling for each other, what will they do?
A Mermaid's Heart
I read this novella in one day I couldn't put it down. Ebby and Cruz are both outcast in their societies. Ebby is because she won't harm or use humans like most mermaids and Cruz is deaf and struggles to be accepted. Cruz is taken by three mermaids when he is scuba diving. They drag him downward and Ebby tries to stop them but the leader Urokotori takes him to a cave and commands her pet octopus to guard him. Ebby sneaks in to feed Cruz and Cruz asks if she can free him but she can't get him past the octopus guarding him. Does Ebby finally stand against the other mermaids and free Cruz? I loved Ebby's pet shrimp Kato in this story.
These stories were a delight to read and review. ARC
