I teach kindergarten. I go back AUGUST 7!! this year. And like you said, I do get out a week earlier but I would rather have the time off at this end of the year.

I finished the book yesterday. I liked Night Swim better, but I enjoyed this one too. I really like the format of the stories and will read the next one if she writes another.

I just got approved for this book today

I thought Goldin did an amazing job with The Night Swim. The subject matter was indeed harsh, but I thought the way she brought up so many issues of how we deal with sexual assault was really well done. How monstrous it is how we retraumatize victims both by the medical exams as well as trials all the while having people say things like "it would be such a tragedy to ruin this poor boy's life". It is little wonder that few report their assaults.

I am reading Night Swim right now.

I finished Small Town Sins and I loved it! It was different and much better than I thought it would be. I was totally crying by the end. This has been one of my favorite NG books . Here is my review

I finished part 1 (view spoiler)[ I agree with you guys that her affair with Elijah is unwise. Especially when she goes to his room. I haven't reread the actual Bible verses that talk about Jezebel, but I have read various religious synopses and it seems like her major sin is just that she encouraged worship of her home gods and that Ahab let her - which is pretty much what has gone on so far. I guess that it all depends on your perspective if building temples is evil or holy depending on what god is yours and which is theirs. The stuff about her being like a whore/witch seems to be just them not liking a strong woman and thus resorting to calling names - you know like they still do :/
The other thing she does is have a man killed because Ahab wants his vineyard and the guy refused to sell it. I wonder how that will go in the book. (hide spoiler)]

I love retellings especially from the women's points of view but I haven't read very many biblical ones. I am looking forward to this. The prologue starts out strong!

I am at 30% (view spoiler)[I am enjoying the way the author is pacing this book. It is a steady and keeps me interested. This is the kind of book that I feel like I am watching a show. I like Lexi as a character. I have a soft spot for female detectives as they were some of my best friend's favorite books so these books remind me of her. I am wondering why the killer killed two of the triplets and also why he posed them as he did since that didn't appear to be connected to whatever happed in Lexi's past. (hide spoiler)]
