1167739 I finished the book yesterday. I liked Night Swim better, but I enjoyed this one too. I really like the format of the stories and will read the next one if she writes another.

1167739 I thought Goldin did an amazing job with The Night Swim. The subject matter was indeed harsh, but I thought the way she brought up so many issues of how we deal with sexual assault was really well done. How monstrous it is how we retraumatize victims both by the medical exams as well as trials all the while having people say things like "it would be such a tragedy to ruin this poor boy's life". It is little wonder that few report their assaults.

1167739 I love retellings especially from the women's points of view but I haven't read very many biblical ones. I am looking forward to this. The prologue starts out strong!

1167739 I finished
Deep as the Sky, Red as the Sea by Rita Chang-Eppig
It was different than I expected. I don't think the way it is being marketed is the best. But I did end up liking it once I let my expectations go a bit
