I finished. It is a 4 star read for me.
(view spoiler)[I wasn't bothered by the twin connection stuff. I did suspect that she was the senator's daughter and not his lover, but I thought perhaps it was the younger son (who Mandy went on a date with) who did the killing not that Honey was the murderer. I was right not to trust Patty, but I didn't know how far Mandy would go for justice! I was really surprised that she had killed before! (hide spoiler)]But I agree on the lack of some basic research on Pekkanen's part

I just finished ch 48 (62%)
(view spoiler)[So it seems that Mandy's parents might have sold Georgia to buy their bar. I agree with you Kristie that Mandy isn't coming off as the weak character that it seemed like she might be. It seems that she has some rage issues too. I am glad that she went to confront Georgia. It seems like all the parental type figures in this story are sketchy. I am not sure how I feel about Patty. Georgia already thinks this is some huge conspiracy so I wouldn't trust anyone at all (except I guess Mandy). (hide spoiler)]

I just finished ch 29 (38%)
(view spoiler)[Vicki I don't think they are identical. I think they describe their looks as different. You know I reread the beginning because I started on the 10th, but then restarted a few days later so it would be fresh, and at first I thought they were identical ( I do like a good twin mystery) but when I reread it I remember thinking at some point "oh they aren't identical".
And I don't know, if I found out I had a sister and I was allowed in her house by myself I think I would kind of what Mandy did. I would be curious to see how she lived, how similar or not we were, how this life might have been mine except for chance. (hide spoiler)]

I am at 22% and have the audio.
(view spoiler)[I can see your point about Mandy being weak, Kristie. I hope she isn't too annoying. It was pretty gutsy of her to go to the house after the funeral! So Georgia is trying to fake dissociation. I wonder how far her deceptions go. I think her (dead) sister isn't the sweetie people thought. (hide spoiler)]
Kristie wrote: "I started this one today, but only made it up to chapter 9 (10%) [spoilers removed]"Good point! I didn't think about that but ya, that is definitely not open information.

I did start, but I have a bunch of other books, so I don't mind putting it on hold for a couple days. I am mostly in the set up anyway.

Yes that required a bit of suspension of disbelief, didn't it.

I am finished and I agree 3.5 stars.
(view spoiler)[Well this one wasn't as twisty as it could have been since we were in "Nick's" head for a lot of the time. I was surprised that it was him who had written the letters to Ash pretending to be that married guy she had a crush on. I loved the ambush that they set up for him! It was very satisfying to see him unable to talk himself out of a situation. I also liked that wife #1 didn't end up giving in at the end and actually had him arrested. I will say though, that I didn't like that the book diagnosed Ash with Borderline Personality Disorder. It's like Jewell didn't look into what that is at all! My daughter has BPD and Ash doesn't read like that AT ALL! I know Ash had a break down - but BPD is more than just a mental breakdown. Nothing else about her reads like BPD. It was just something the book mentioned only once, but I caught it because that disorder has been the bane of my existence for the last 10 years so I was like "Nope! Not even close!" But that is just a pet peeve for me. (hide spoiler)]

I have been slow at eyeball reading this week because my niece is visiting so I've been busy with that. I am at ch 11. So far it is mainly introducing characters.
(view spoiler)[I agree with you guys that Paddy's death is probably no random act. Our "bad guy" is a serial player of women. I am kind of wondering what his end game is since his women don't appear to be especially rich or anything. Seems like a lot of work to have multiple lives to navigate if it's not for money. And they seem to be reasonably but not exceptionally attractive. Hmmmm... (hide spoiler)]I should have some reading time tomorrow though because my niece went to spend the night somewhere else.

It's an emotional ride for sure, Kristie!

I will start when I finish my current ebook

I have don't let him in! So I can join you.

I just got this one so I can join you! it's been a minute since I had a book at the same time as the group

Trisha I pretty much was in tears the whole book!

I loved this one so much!

I will come by and check this thread to see what everyone thinks. I don't think I can wait until April to read this one. I am hoping to get to this one in January. I LOVE Backman.
