I am at a good stopping point so I thought I would pop in and leave some thoughts. I just finished ch 11.
(view spoiler)[As soon as they went to Ethel's going away party I knew that Hannah was going to kill someone off. I was hoping that it wasn't going to be Ethel and I am really glad that she let Ethel live and go home. I also liked how she wrote the relationship between Jamie and Frankie. It was sad when Jaime died, but I think it was more poignant because they hadn't given in to hooking up.
Now Barb and Frankie are transferred to Rocket City. It is crazy that the 36th was calm compared to where they are now. I can't believe that Barb transferred with Frankie. I know they are close, but she is so close to going home. I hope she makes it. (hide spoiler)]

I am through ch 6. Wow that was an intense last chapter! (view spoiler)[What a baptism by fire Frankie had with that MASCAL! It is harsh how no one really explained anything to her and how her training was not especially helpful for the actual situation in Vietnam. It was heartbreaking that they found out Frankie's brother died on the same night Frankie told them she had enlisted. As a parent I cannot imagine how her parents were feeling at that moment. I just finished the ebook I was reading so I will start this one today.

I finished the book. I really didn't want to put it down for this last half especially!
(view spoiler)[So my suspicion about Cam being part of the family was misplaced, but there was a family connection - just the wrong family and wrong character lol. I loved how Hawkins made me like Ruby even though she is kind of terrible. I loved that Cam knows Jules' secret and loves her anyway. I would love to see that scene some day when she reveals it to Cam only to find out he has known almost since the beginning. (hide spoiler)]
This was my first book by Hawkins and I definitely want to read more!

I am at 43% right now. (view spoiler)[So all Cam's relatives seem like people I wouldn't want to be around, but Nelle seems particularly unpleasant. I also wonder about whether or not Cam is actually related to the family. Ruby is clearly kind of a spitfire and I could see her adopting Cam knowing he is really family. I wonder if he is an out of wedlock baby they wanted to keep under wraps.
Ruby's letter about her first husband was upsetting. What a jerk. At least she wasn't subjected to him for too long. (hide spoiler)]

I am at just over 20%. My reading has been a bit slower this week not only because of the horrid pink eye, but also extra work stuff this week.
I think your list of questions Shruti is pretty much exactly the same ones I have.

One night I was reading right before bed and it was where it ended with her saying that she was eventually was planning to tell Cam - whatever it is she is hiding - and then it was my bedtime and I was unhappy to put the book down.
I am enjoying Ruby's letters! She is a feisty old gal. I can't wait to hear more about her secrets! (hide spoiler)]

I know! It's crazy! Being a teacher of the littles pink eye is always a hazard of the job, but I have never seen anything like this.

I am starting this one today but not going to get very far as my eyes are not doing great. I teach kindergarten and got the most raging case of pink eye in both eyes. I have watched it spread all through my classroom the past couple weeks. So now I am just waiting for the medication to work its magic.

I had that book but messed up and didn't realize I had gotten it for a buddy read and I read it. Oops! It was really good though!

I am at 76% (view spoiler)[ I am wondering if Edith maybe did something on purpose to Cleo's daughter - maybe out of some misplaced trying to help. They are making it seem like Frankie took Patience/Nellie but then it wouldn't make sense for Frankie to be seeking out Cleo. And what's up with Jude? I am at the part where Edith is trying to confess to the police but I have'nt heard her confession. I should finish tomorrow. >/spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

I am about halfway through (view spoiler)[Well the relationships in this book are certainly tangled! I wonder why Jude's business card was in the secret tin. Frankie knows Cleo but doesn't seem to know Jude or that he has any connection to her daughter. I wonder why she went to see Cleo at work and she knows where Cleo lives because she referenced the pink house. I am enjoying the book so far! (hide spoiler)]
