Love this, resonates with me too.

I'm done now, have given it 3 stars, maybe 3 and a half as enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would (or did the first time I read it) but Austen is still not one of my favourite classic writers.

No but I might try it tomorrow and see what kind of a reaction I get ;)

Cheers :)

No I didn't agree with Mr Galprin either
(view spoiler)[ it seems pretty out of character for Colonel Brandon (hide spoiler)] - I just thought it was an interesting take on it.
And yes Mrs Palmer is pretty crazy so I'm glad she doesn't have a bigger part.
January is fine for me for a Persuasion readalong!

As soon as poss - just need to work out my notice for my current job.

Thanks! It's at Café Nero's.

Been for a trial shift today and have got that job - I'm being taken on as a trainee shift leader which is cool :)

If Persuasion isn't a group read, we can always have a readalong at some point Angela!

I like Brandon the best out of all the fella's as well but he doesn't have much competition.
This is from Reading Group Guides re: Colonel Brandon which is interesting
Note - Spoiler Warning, don't read if you haven't finished the book yet:
(view spoiler)[ Critic William H. Galperin does not like Colonel Brandon. He has characterized Brandon's pursuit of Marianne as "insistent, if sinister."
As one part of his case against Brandon, he refers to two points in Willoughby's final conversation with Elinor in which anonymous informants figure. "Mrs. Smith had somehow or other been informed" Willoughby says, of his affair with Eliza, and later "some vague report" of Marianne reaches his fiancée. William H. Galperin has argued that this unnamed informant can only be Colonel Brandon.
Is it possible that Colonel Brandon is, in fact, the evil mastermind behind the entire plot?
Did you suspect as much? (hide spoiler)]

I will probably have to re-read Pride and Prejudice at some point - we studied it for GCSE which sort of killed it for me (can vaguely remember it being christened Pride and Prunejuice) and I wasn't as taken with MR Darcy as every one else seems to be (although Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation was a bit yummy). Maybe it might be a better read now that I am a little older and a more experienced reader??? I have got Persuasion on my kindle to read at some point as well.

Oh no, the Miss Steeles are awful. The men are really boring in this aren't they? I wonder if Austen just found women easier to write?

Hope you're feeling better soon Ellie!

Yeah she is ok, but don't you just cringe every time Mrs Jennings opens her mouth! Am about halfway (its a quick read) and am still enjoying it, quite pleasantly surprised.
Lee wrote: "Ahhhhhhhh! You lucky thing seeing that live!"Wasn't that show but it was the same tour when they came to Newcastle - absolutely brilliant, just wish I'd been able to see them with Freddie Mercury.

I love Queen! Freddie Mercury was just awesome. I went to see Queen with Paul Rodgers (from Free) a few years ago and they were brilliant, and every show they did Brian sings 'love of my life' in tribute to Freddie - not a dry eye in the house!

Cool - I liked the Joni Mitchell song, and Nick Cave and his band were pretty cool (never heard them before)

Cool, I like it. You can get one's of the British Isles as well which are quite good.

LOL, any of those would probably be applicable! It was a bunny - I pinched it from Florence and the Machine's facebook page - the writing said 'I must become a lion-hearted girl' from the song 'Rabbit-Heart' - but I kept not recognising my own comments so have changed it back to my crows :)
Thanks Mouser for the Otis song! I stayed at my friends house the other day and their cat tried to eat my kindle - oops!

Sounds good Tracey - I don't mind subtitles so might check it out sometime.
Am so excited for Doctor Who!! have been at work and need to catch up on the last series before I can watch this one though!
