Thank you, Dani and Tammy! I have just emailed you each a copy of my short story. I hope you enjoy it.Have a lovely day!
Hi, everyone!I need some brutal critiques for a short story I wrote. It's contemporary romance, super sweet, and has a few humorous moments thrown in for good measure. The title is The Locksmith's Daughter and it's very short at only 2635 words (about 5 pages). Joyce kindly read it and enjoyed it, while giving me some super helpful things to think about. I would like two or three more opinions on it. I need the critiques within a week or two, as I have a submission deadline of April 30.
If you're interested in helping me out, please post your email here or send me a private message with your email in it and I will send the DOC file (Microsoft Word).
Thank you in advance! :o)
Sure, Tammy! :o)Over to the far right of each book on the shelf is a link that says "edit." If you click that, it will pop up with that book's info. There is another link that says "choose shelves." After selecting the appropriate shelves, be sure to click "save group book."
I added a fantasy shelf, Joyce. I just wanted to let you know. Also, should there be a paranormal shelf?
The link is loading for me now. No more malware warnings. Whew. I'm really paranoid about that stuff. :o)
Taffy, I tried to go to your blog and my browser threw up a malware warning:"The website at taffyscandy.blogspot.com contains elements from the site www.socialmarker.com, which appears to host malware – software that can hurt your computer or otherwise operate without your consent. Just visiting a site that contains malware can infect your computer."
The fifth time it loaded so I suspect it is one of the revolving ads you may have on your blog. Has this happened to you or anyone else before?
I'm following all of you now. :o)I have a few blogs, a couple that I update more often than the others:

http://jaimeygrant.blogspot.com (author blog)
Come to think of it, I probably should move this to the "Book Chat" folder. It is practically an instruction thread already.
I actually started reading "The Black Moth" many, many months ago and then it got put on a back burner. :o(Careful, Joyce. If we get too involved in this discussion I may have to move this thread to the new "Book Chat" folder. ;o)
Hello, fellow romance fans!I just wanted to mention that I added a new folder "Book Chat" for any discussions on a particular author or book. If you want to praise or dissect a specific author or book, such as Georgette Heyer or even more specifically her book The Black Moth, that would be the folder to put the discussion in.
Any questions? Please ask them here. (There's probably some issue I've overlooked.) I will go back through old "General Chat" discussions and move any threads that qualify as specific "Book Chat."
Thank you for your time. Happy reading! :o)
I never did comment on the original question, did I? Well, my 2 cents on the age difference:When it comes to fantasy elements such as vampires, werewolves, aliens, or humans who have been molecularly altered to live longer, I have no opinion about the age difference. I suppose it is a little icky when the girl is a teenager but as an avid reader of Regencies I have come across the 17yo girl falling in love with the 35+yo man several times (especially in older titles) so I've gotten used to the idea. (I wrote one with a 16yo heroine but couldn't bring myself to keep her that young, even as mature as she was. The hero was, and still is, 25 in that story.)
I think that's it...for now. :o)
Tammy wrote: "I am curious Jaimey why you won't read any Stephenie Meyer books?"I take that back. I might consider reading "The Host." Twilight doesn't interest me because vampires just aren't my thing. The clean part is appealing but other than that, I'm just not interested. :o)
Hi, ladies! I moved this topic into the general chat folder. :o)My opinion on Twilight? Too much hype. I won't read any Stephenie Meyer book. There's also the fact that the whole story seems to be one girl's choice between bestiality and necrophilia (which is how a friend described it to me). That just gives me an icky chill. If I am incorrect in this, feel free to let me know.
I just started the first, Crocodile on the Sandbank, and I really like it. Elizabeth Peters is an entertaining writer.
