Want to Read More This Year? Join the 2016 Reading Challenge!

Will it be one book every other month? Or maybe one book a week? A day? It's up to you! Your goal can be any size. To get started, just choose the number of books you'd like to read this year.
Not sure what to read next? Don't worry! Here are a few ways to build your want-to-read list on Goodreads:
- Recommendations: To get recommendations tailored just for you, rate books you've already read. The more books you rate, the better your recommendations will be!
- Giveaways: Did you know you can enter book giveaways for a chance to win free books?
- Lists: You can also browse the thousands of lists on Listopia—where you'll find categories ranging from classic (Best Books of the 21st Century) to niche (Best Alpha Male Alien Meets Human Heroine Romance).
- Goodreads Choice Award winners: Peruse the results of the recently announced 2015 Goodreads Choice Awards, with winners and runners-up in 20 categories!
And it never hurts to have some social support when working toward a goal, so check out the many Goodreads groups that host reading challenges across every topic, theme, and genre imaginable.

In 2015, Goodreads members pledged to read more than 94 million books! What is your 2016 goal? Tell us in the comments!

So glad to hear I'm not alone! I have kids on top of a full time job so reading is a real luxury. I read 11 last year and was thrilled. HAHA!

No kidding! I work fulltime from home with 4 kids! Never did this challenge before and thought I would give it a shot. Put 40 but depends on life. lol.
Oh to be young again...:)
Good luck to all!

I work from home at hours that I set for myself. I work when I want to so that the medical issues that keep me in the house can be worked around (I have a lot of doctor's appointments). Plus, like with any skill, if you practice enough you get faster/better.

They only set one or two books as their challenge?

what's the meaning of the challenge, then.

They only set one or two books as their challenge?"
Probably!

2015 reading challenge was 40, I ended up finishing only 25
I decided 30 for this year. Wish me luck

Me too lol

I stll have more than 20 unread books I bought in 2015 so 2016...here we go.

How? I have heard that before but I can't imagine how to do it. if you work how do you do it? . Do you remember everything you read? Give me tips.

Hi Christopher, its on your profile (not Home, go to your actual profile page) on the right side toward the bottom with all of your completed reading challenge rankings. ;)

My reading average has TANKED with my son... my pregnancy trashed my concentration and I haven't gotten it back yet. So now that he is a toddler and I am hoping to read a modest 12 books this year at minimum. One per month sounds reasonable... Even if I have to read only at bedtime this should be doable. *fingers crossed*
If this works, my 2017 pledge will be more daring. ☺

you can do it!

Or perhaps they are counting audiobooks towards their total?

Or perhaps t..."
That's one possibility, too.

Well, yes, I like also to read and enjoy slowly, re-read, taste my reading, rather than a fast food contest of eat as much as you can. I work too, and it's true I'd like to have more time to read, but I think my goals will never be in terms of volume.
MJO
I almost feel guilty for saying I am going to read 200+ books but the books I read can be finished in an hour easy so it isn't a stretch. I think it is important to remember you are only in competition with yourself.

Thanks for the tip!

Wow! That is absolutely amazing! You are my hero! "
This means you read a book every 14-15 hours in 2015. Really? DO you work?

This means you read a book every 14-15 hours nonstop the entire year of 2015. Really? Do you work? That seems a little unbelievable. If not, wow.

I would be interested in what books you read Danielle. 609 books in 365 days is more than 2 books every 3 days, do you recall anything you read? or were you reading "The Cat In The Hat" and "the Three Little Pigs"? I may be being unkind; if you are able to sit and read all day long, it would be possible. However Although I love reading and always have at least one book in progress I would think that doing nothing else but reading all day every day would be unhealthy.
That's what I've been thinking too! I mean, I'm a college student so planning for more than 70 books is impossible..
