Rereading is the best, especially in the summertime and definitely try to read Cassandra Clare books;)

It just doesnt feel right to call it a summer reading challenge when there are people here from all over the world where the seasons are all different. Its all good for Americans but when about the rest of us here who arent?

Since retiring in November of 2018 I haven't read or listened to a single book. I miss audiobooks and don't find reading as enjoyable.
I must find something good!

I'm also from Australia, and 100% agree!
It's actually really frustrating that whomever came up with this was so short-sighted.

Its not about summer Zara, its about reading! And one can do it in winter too , isn't it ?Or whatever season is it , right ?!

Most of the user's on Goodreads I'd wager live on the Northern hemisphere. All of North America, all of Europe, all of Asia (more or less at least). There is really no need to get offended over something like this.

Our selections for this summer:
15.5 y/o son:
Night by Elie Wiesel
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
13.5 y/o son:
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
Watership Down by Richard Adams
11.5 y/o daughter:
Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
She hasn't made her selection yet for me. She's re-reading a bunch of her books to find one she thinks I'll like. :)

Almost Midnight by Paul Doiron.
The one series I pre-order every summer in hardcover.
A Thread of Grace by Mary Doria Russell.
Since "The Nightingale," I'm obsessed with sweeping WWII historical fiction and plan to take my time with this one.
Do No Harm: Stories of Life, Death and Brain Surgery by Henry Marsh

Good for you! Wow, that’s an impressive line up! Enjoy!

I'm in if there is!

Love the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I am just now getting caught up on them.
People, can we please get over the word 'summer' and maybe go with 'vacation' or 'leisure' reading? Geez. I just want to find a good book that is well written and can get lost in and hate to put down.

I'm really hoping the Goodreads folks are working on one. That was lots of fun.

I'm up for another Goodreads summer challenge, but I hope it's organized a bit differently. I don't like having certain tasks assigned to certain months. I know, I know, there aren't any challenge police watching to make sure I comply, but if there are rules, I either follow them or I have to work up a justification for myself to not follow them. And that's tedious. I'd much prefer rules, if they're going to exist, not be pointless and/or capricious.
