Don't assume they are reading their own thread. You know what they say about assumptions. But it's not the other person that looks that way (the one the assumptions are directed at).....No need for me to complete that right?

Make sure they are getting a personal response. I see this every season. The complaining that they aren't representing everyone. So there are enough people for them to at least consider it and let the public know they are hearing them.

When will people stop complaining and make sure they are being heard and being represented? Or, does everyone just like to complain and don't really care about things getting done? If that's the case, complain on. Enjoy....

For having a go at me for assuming things, you sure did assume some stuff. For instance, you don't even know what I'm complaining about (hint: it's NOT that they aren't "representing" everyone).

As far as assuming they read their own thread? I'm going to keep making that assumption because it's a reasonable assumption to make.

I agree since it is a global group we have to think of two things, should we identify with the country of origin or as someone has mentioned the block of months in which we are reading

I read how to block someone and this is the results. You need to highlight his name on his post (I think it's in blue print) and do the following: To block a Goodreads member on the desktop site:
Navigate to that member's profile page
Click on More in the row beneath their name
Select Block this user
To block an author on the desktop site:
Navigate to that author's profile page
Scroll down to the bottom
Click block this member

message 228: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl I just want to make a general comment. This is a site about books. There is so much animosity and hostility in the country right now which is really sad. If you have no interest in a certain celebrity or in their book selections, why not try to just evaluate the books on their own merit. There are some really interesting selections here and should be judged by what you like to read or might like to read, not necessarily who recommended it. View it as finding new material.

message 229: by Valerie (new)

Valerie Mauk You are so right, Cheryl. This is about BOOKS, and there are so many genres from which to choose because human beings are not all alike in their likes and dislikes. Don't judge the reader!! And sometimes, I'll pick up a book I think I won't like and enjoy the heck out of it...so experimentation into the unknown is a good thing too.

message 230: by Morgan (new)

Morgan The New Girl by Daniel Silva - can't wait to read the latest in the Gabriel Allon series.

Hanieh Malcolm Fun twist to summer reading. "Snow in Love" is a fun, december holidays book. I like to mix things up throughout the year, just for fun.

message 238: by Matee (new)

Matee Would love some suggestions for MC books. That's what I'm into right now. Would love some that are a series.
Thanks!!

message 239: by Rosie (new)

Rosie I just read and highly recommend The Billion Dollar Embezzlement Murders by Frank E. Hopkins. It held my attention from the first page to the very end. I liked the flipping from the different characters trying to solve the crimes to the perpetrators still committing them. The description of the scenery only adds to the enjoyment as the story journeys across the world.

Ron Morgan wrote: "The New Girl by Daniel Silva - can't wait to read the latest in the Gabriel Allon series."

Totally agree!

message 241: by Julie (new)

Julie I always start my summer reading with "Charlotte's Web". This summer I am turning 60 in June. My father read "Truman" by David McCullough the year he was 60. Well before he passed on, he gave me his hard back copy, so that is what I am reading this summer as well.

Quang Quấn Quít 1. Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking
by Susan Cain.
2. Homo Deus: A History of Tomorrow
by Yuval Noah Harari

I'd love to hear what books you're going to read. Craving some sunny beach reads - the UK is STILL cold and rainy and I need some escapism. lol

Ann I’m doing a summer reading program at my local public library. Managed quite a few already. I’m also doing a challenge of reading new releases for 2019. I would be interested to see how many I could add to another challenge.
