Elin Hilderbrand’s “Summer of ‘69” is THE book I’ve been waiting to read all winter! I know it will be good!

Oh, get over yourselves, Ozzies. Who cares what season it is here or there? They are just books!
The Song of Achilles, by Madeline Miller. Hers is an extraordinary, original voice, a writer whom I dearly hope has a long literary career ahead of her.The Fifth Risk, by Michael Lewis.
Any book by David Baldacci is on my list. One of my all time favorite thrillers is Nora Roberts' Shelter in Place. I read a lot and this is one of my top 10 of all of them.

I am loving the series. Lots of twists and turns and surprises I was not expecting but great. I finished the third book and am reading Clockwork Angel now which is a book in the Infernal Devices which is connected to the Mortal Instruments. Which is also good. I would highly recommend the books.
Kathy K. wrote: "Summer temps have already begun in Arizona. Almost 100!😘" Right! I'm roasting here in Phoenix!
Right now I'll be having a heavy dose of V.E Schwab. Going through her Villains series and loving it.Diving into Six of Crows as well. Just enjoying everythinggggggg
I highly recommend Peter Guzzardi's book, Emeralds Of Oz - Life Lessons From Over The Rainbow. This is a unique, thoughtful and positive take on both the book and the great film - The Wizard Of Oz. It is profound in a very enjoyable way.
Jessica wrote: "I would also love to see another summer reading challenge!"Its not about summer. Its about reading
I just finished A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving My plan is to read
Becoming by Michelle Obama
Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
The Stand by Stephen King

epub
or just search up "pdf" after the book title on google sometimes this works sometimes it doesn't so you might have to convert files into the "pdf converter" websites.
Hope this helps!
This summer I'm going to focus on my to-be-read YA list, but also challenge myself to read some classics I've been meaning to check out but never have. I'm starting with The Great Gatsby and next is Little Women. As far as my other books, I'm currently into All the Light We Cannot See and then I'm going onto Fangirl.
Kumud wrote: "where can i get free pdf/epub files of books without registring my mobile no. or credit card no. plzzzz helpp"You can also check with your local library, mine is affiliated with a digital library that I can download free books on using my library card.
By whom is Tara Westover beloved? Her POS book is NEVER going to go away, is it? And who IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would put her alongside the literary master, George Saunders? In case you did not pick up on it, I LOATHED Educated.
I'll finish The fault in our stars, i'll re-read New Moon, i'll re-read Call me by your name and if i have time i'll read a new one.
Come on GoodReads, pick up your game! If you're going to be a serious website, you've got to stop being parochial and assuming it's summer everywhere because it's summer in your country. It's pathetically ethnocentric and it's insulting and alienating to a huge proportion of your users. Please, please, please pick up your game!
Most of the user's on Goodreads I'd wager live on the Northern hemisphere. All of North America, all of Europe, all of Asia (more or less at least). There is really no need to get offended over something like this.I'm sure ethnocentricity doesn't bother you when you're not on the receiving end constantly.
And it's not just about the weather. It's about the fact that very few places on earth take three months off for summer like Americans do. So the concept of summer as a block that is different to the rest of the year is American per se.

I screenshot it for later...thanks!
Jason, I agree with what you say, about it not being summer everywhere in the world. Props for your comments. One thing though. Only school children in the U.S. and some teachers get three months off in the summer. The rest of us work year round.
For all dutch readers, you can download the app 'vakantiebieb' and read selected books for free. It will start the first of June with books for children and YA and in July also adult books are available.
Right now I'm reading the Elizabeth series by Elizabeth Von Arnim. It's about a 19th century memoirist with a passion for gardening and exploring the countryside - perfect for summer. Since there's not an actual plot, I can dip into and out of it as I wish.Next, I'll probably read The Binding by Bridget Collins.
I just finished "Miracle Creek" by Angie Kim, highly recommended! Just started "The Never Game" by Jeffery Deaver, so far so good.
It's summer here near Charleston, pushing 100 degrees.
And here some are, arguing over seasons, with people who can do nothing about how Goodreads does things, instead of emailing Goodreads (the only ones who can change things) to maybe include other hemispheres in the website. Frustrating to be excluded? Yes. Do something to change it other than bickering and being jerks to each other? hmm...I wonder which would work better? (sarcasm for those who need to be told). How many have actually emailed Goodreads and tried to work something out with them to include those who are in different seasons than the northern hemisphere? And it's not up to the northern hemisphere to make sure that happens but I am sure many will be willing to support and help if it is wanted. ;-)P.S. This is me agreeing that some things may need a change. More places need to be included and talked about (shouldn't have to add this part but I know sometimes, folks don't think this far ahead, they'd rather get bent out of shape first & possibly think later)
Wow, it's summer the whole wide world? I think not, there is such a thing called the southern hemisphere which is going into Winter. Not everything revolves around the US and Europe.... Would you put a post up with the similar title in December for the southern hemisphere?
I kind of dislike the whole "Summer Reading" tag anyway. It assumes light, non-serious books that you can read without worrying about being distracted. My reading selections do not change with the season, whatever it may be.
I have already surpassed my number of books to read in 2019. It's hard for me to challenge myself, because sometimes I read a book in a few days and others a week or two. I'll need to keep better track of each book I read and the dates read. I do like the idea of the challenge, though!
Kathy K. wrote: "Has nothing to do with being American, you small minded person. Read and shut up.😘"It has everything to do with being American. American is the one country where people generally aren't embarrassed to be ethnocentric. And have the arrogance to attack anyone who dares to point out that they are.
Bridget wrote: "And here some are, arguing over seasons, with people who can do nothing about how Goodreads does things, instead of emailing Goodreads (the only ones who can change things) to maybe include other h..."When the error is public, the response can and should be public. Writing them would have less effect than publicly addressing it here. Obviously the assumption is that they are reading their own thread.
I'll also point out that it's not leaving the rest of the world out that's the issue. It's assuming the whole world lives in their time/place/culture. It's literally forgetting the existence of the rest of the world.
Stop the fighting!!! It's not about being American. It's about our own individual personalities...no matter WHAT ethnic group you belong to. Now let's have fun and read!!! :)

Wow... because calling out ethnocentricity makes me unhappy? A very odd conclusion. Cya.
