Catching Up

I’m trying something new today. I’m pretty sure it’s destined to fail, but I’m giving it a go anyway. I’m getting up early to write blog posts.

Yep, it’s the whole getting-up-early thing that’s going to make this, most likely, short lived. And, sadly, my early is 6:15am instead of 7:00am. You wouldn’t think 45 minutes would make all that much difference, but my bleary eyes and my yawns indicate otherwise. So tired. How the heck did I wake up at 5:00 am in college?!

ButI need to find more time i...

Writing and Not Writing and Writing Some More

I took too long of a writing break. I’m behind on my deadline already. I want my current project (more on it later) finished by November 1st, so, by my calculations, I’m already 22 days behind. This is if I write 1,500 words a day 3 days a week.

1,000 words a day is my comfortable pace. I’m rather slow, I know. I’m beginning to accept that. Maybe it’ll change in the future. After all, on the days I write all day, I am managing to get over 1,500 now. Improvement. Yay!

Anyway, I’m not sure where...

Birthdays and Page Proofs and Sad/Awkward Email

It’s been a frustratingly unproductive week at my house. I was supposed to spend it getting ready for the boys’ first birthday, which is Saturday, but they both got super sick at the beginning of the week. (Boy #1 had a 103 degree fever Sunday night!). #2 came down with it on Tuesday, and then, of course, I got it on Wednesday afternoon. I think both boys are on the mend. I hope they are, at least. It is so NOT fun to be sick. I still have a really bad sore throat that might eventually drive...

Winner & New Giveaway for Megan Powell’s NO PEACE FOR THE DAMNED

I’m starting off with the new giveaway because I’m incredibly excited about Megan’s debut, No Peace for the Damned.

Not only does this book have an awesome cover, but it’s an awesome story as well, and Megan’s voice gripped me right from the beginning. Like, it REALLY gripped me. I’m a huge, huge fan ofher writing style. Authors hear all the time how important it is to have a good, unique voice, and Megan has it. I’ll read anything she writes.

Loved this book so much I blurbed it. Here’s what I...

Giveaway: Amanda Bonilla’s BLOOD BEFORE SUNRISE

My writing buddy, Amanda Bonilla, has a new book out today! It’s the sequel to SHAEDES OF GRAY, a new urban fantasy series with a kickbutt heroine who is NOT a vampire or a werewolf (not that anything is wrong with vamps or weres – love them both!). I love the world Amanda developed, and shaedes are pretty much awesome. I’m looking forward to reading Darian’s new story!

And I’m giving away a copy of BLOOD BEFORE SUNRISE. Just leave a comment below and I’ll choose a winner next Tuesday. (Heads...

How I Know Things Are Finally Getting Better

You know how this blog has been so quiet, and how most of the posts always begin without an apology for not posting more? I’ve very much been a frazzled mother of twins attempting to learn how to be a mom, a wife, and a writer all at the same time, and I’ve just barely been able to keep my head above water.

I missed deadlines.

I turned in a very crappy, ending-was-nonexistent book.

I freaked out and stressed about cleaning the house so that the cleaners I hired could actually get in the house to...

June 22, 2012

It’s Friday! Here, have some randomness.

1. I found myself on the phone with an insurance company today. I also found myself wanting to strangle the company’s automated voice-rec system. It was awful. After screaming “Operator!” several times and getting asked the same irrelevant questions again and again, I finally was able to talk to a human. I was a bit testy by this point. Then, I was a bit confused. The guy had a little accent, and our convo with something like this.

Guy: I can’t give you a quote here, butIwill transfer you to so...

Monthly Goals

Yep, yep. I’m totally regressing here. No more weekly goals because, well, I obviously can’t keep up with posting that much, even when I do accomplish them. So I’m going to attempt to do monthly goals. Not sure if it’ll work out, but hey, it’s worth a shot, right?

Without further ado, here’s what I hope to accomplish this month!

1. Update my website. I really need to put up information on The Shattered Dark! I’d like to add a Fae to English translation guide, too, and the map of the Realm, and...

Cover Reveal: The Shattered Dark

It’s here! It’s here! The Shattered Dark’s final cover!

I’m so excited to share this with you guys. I absolutely love it. I feel like I’ve totally one the book cover lottery with these two books. I love how The Shadow Reader’s cover was kickass and pink, and I love how The Shattered Dark’s cover is kickass and purple!

Yes, McKenzie is holding a sword again. No, she still doesn’t know how to use the darn thing, but she does hold one for more than two minutes in The Shattered Dark. :-)

So, here it i...
