In Which I Introduce My Brother to Dr. Horrible
Spent this week at my parents’ house with my brother and his family. My brother is a marine. Has been for almost sixteen years, so I rarely get to see him or his girls. For the past two years, he’s been in Australia, which is kind of an awesome assignment because it means he didn’t have to go to Iraq (again) or Afghanistan or some other place where his family couldn’t go with him.
We were sitting around Wednesday night and the conversation of Halloween costumes came up. Trey and I haven’t deci...

Just Twelve Days Until THE SHATTERED DARK!
It’s almost here! I’m so excited. Just twelve more days until THE SHATTERED DARK releases to the masses. It’s been so, so long since I had a book come out. Last year, I was too overwhelmed with the twins to do any events, but this time, I have three scheduled! Woohoo! I almost feel like a real writer!
Here’s where you can find me:
Virtual launch: October 30th – RELEASE DAY! At 7pm EST I’m hosting a live event with urban fantasy author and agency sister, Allison Pang. Go to h...

Yikes!
The husband and I just got back from a week in San Francisco and the wine country. I was able to put all my responsibilities and obligations mostly on hold for that week, but now ZOMG! everything is crashing down on me all at once. It doesn’t helped that I returned to one very sad, sick baby and have had to hold him almost constantly since I’ve been home. Doctor said it’s a viral infection, so I’m bracing for baby #2 to get sick any moment. Also, my husband’s car is broken and in the shop, I...

Meet: Captain Rhys “Rest in Peace” Rykus
I played catch up today on Gwen Hernandez’s Scrivener course. One of the tasks we did was to choose a picture from our computer to insert into our Scrivener project. I stumbled across my “Character Pictures” folder, and saw this:
This is Brian Austin Green from the Sara Connor Chronicles, that short-lived Terminator TV series that I almost loved. Too bad they wrote the show all wrong.
Anyway, is he not absolutely gorgeous? Seeing this picture has made me so, so excited about my next project (or...

The Shattered Dark Blog Tour Poll
This was a semi-productive week. I’m not as far along on the book as I’d like to be, but that’s not unusual. I did figure out a couple of things, plot-wise, that are strengthening the story. There was this scene I’ve had in mind for well overa year with a side character, a very minor side character. The scene would have been great, but it had repurcussions that were annoying to me. So, I made the tough decision and deleted it. Now, I need to unwrite a bunch of scenes with this side character...

Current Giveaway: FULL BLOODED by Amanda Carlson
My friend’s debut urban fantasy is out!
It came out last Tuesday. Yes, I’ve been a bad blogger. I’m not quite sure where the time went, but I didn’t get a chance to get my hands on a Real! Live! copy until the weekend. And then, I had to ask the folks at B&N where it was. I was kind of shocked that it wasn’t on the shelf. I mean, hasn’t everyone heard the great buzz about this book?
Here are just a few reviews:
Plus, Amanda Carlson is being...

It’s Saturday
It was 60 degrees this morning! The high will be in the upper 80s! Woot! Compare that to yesterday and the day before, when it reached 104, and you now know why I’m a happy Sandy. My weekend morning jog was so much more pleasant than last week’s.
Got some writing done this morning, too. I learned something that’s going to happen in the latter part of the book, and even now two hours later, my chest is still all achy and tight. But that’s a good thing, that emotional involvement in my book. It’...

Productive Morning
The dreaded exercise thing is going pretty well. I don’t think I have more energy as a result yet, but I kicked my butt out of bed the last three mornings in a row and went running. Well, mostly walking because I am so incredibly out of shape. I’m on Week 4 of the C25K program and I can’t run that last five minute stretch.
Good news is that I got up at 6:15 this morning. I think getting up at 6:45 for the last three days has helped that. And look at all the stuff I’ve accomplished so far:
Downl...

This Getting Up Early Thing and Newletter Contest Winner
I iz exhausted. But I’m here and I’m sort of awake. I’ve actually done pretty well with this getting up early thing. I’ve been up by 6:30 (I can hear all of you who ALWAYS get up at 6:30 or earlier rolling your eyes!) every day but Tuesday, and Tuesday wasn’t my fault. It was the mice’s fault.
Yeah. Mice. In the walls. Monday morning, I heard something scratching at the front of the house. I dismissed it, thinking a bird was outside being stupid or something, because birds are kind of stupid a...
