Despite her burning thirst, Caitlin struggled her way to a seated position. Fighting the light-headedness and nausea, she attempted to swing her legs to the side of the bed. A sharp pain in her thigh tore a strangled cry from her throat and the black lump suddenly moved. She truly didn't want to stick around and find out if the blob were her assailant or her savior, and gulping back the sob, determined to escape, she grasped the tube running to the IV in her hand and gave a hard yank, pulling the needle all the way out in a smooth glide as blood welled at the site.She slid to the side of the bed and placed her feet flat on the floor, standing and testing her weight on the injured leg. Thinking she'd manage, she glanced toward the still sleeping form and panting hard against the burn through her leg she turned toward the door. One. Two. Three steps forward and then strong arms gripped her from behind and yanked her back just as all strength faded and her knees buckled.""Hey, little lady, just where do you think you're going?"" a gravelly voice teased her ear.""Let me go!"" she struggled, kicking her good leg backward and connecting with the solid leg of her captor, smiling inwardly as an 'omph,' escaped from his lips with a brush of warm breath.""Calm down! You're safe,"" the man nearly growled, his arm pulling her tighter to the heat of his chest. A heat she remembered from the forest. Safe. She was safe. All the fight left her suddenly and she drooped in his arms, her energy depleted. ""There now, that's better.""She felt his arm snake behind her legs and then she was lifted against that strong, masculine warmth once again and a feeling of relaxation overwhelmed her as she drew in his scent. Musky and spicy, with a hint of wet dog. Normally the wet dog smell would have her retching, but on him it seemed right, calming. Giving in to the calmness she felt washing over her, she relaxed as he tucked her back into the bed, tsking at the fact that her needle now dripped fluid onto the floor.""Thirsty,"" she gasped, trying once again to lick her dry lips.""If you promise to be a good girl and stay there, I'll get you some water."" He flashed a stern look in her direction.She nodded, feeling oddly contrite at the thought that she had upset this man. She watched him closely as he crossed the room, his movements lithe and smooth, the flex of his back muscles as he lifted the water flask and poured clear liquid into a blue plastic cup. She admired his broad shoulders as his midnight-black hair brushed the tips of his shoulder blades. Following downward, she visually caressed his tapered waist and the jean-clad tight ass that lead his long legs down into black-skinned cowboy boots. Cowboy boots? In the snow? In a hospital? Weird. She dropped her gaze as he turned around, looking at him shyly from beneath her lashes.""Here you go, sweetness,"" the burly man drawled out, his voice low, almost sensual.""Thank you."" She accepted the water gratefully, placing the straw in her mouth. She drew a long sip of the icy cool wetness, luxuriating in the feel of it sliding down her parched, raw throat.""Not too much, now,"" he chastised, leaning over to slip the cup from her grasp. ""You'll make yourself sick, and until Nick comes in to check your wounds, I'm on duty. Nothing is gonna happen to you on my watch."" The firm set of his jaw made her smile at its sternness.""Nick?""""My partner here at the clinic.""""So it is a medical facility, then."" She visibly relaxed, leaning her head back into the pillows, feeling more at ease and suddenly overcome by fatigue.""Erm...in a manner of sorts, yes.""Too tired to question the odd response, she let her eyes drift shut, her lashes brushing her cheeks as she yawned. ""Sleepy,"" she mumbled.Brushing her curly dark locks away from her dirt-smudged forehead, he crooned, ""No doubt. You've had quite a day, I'm sure. You rest, I'll be here.""Caitlin dozed to the feel of his hand caressing her hair, her cheek, the side of her neck, his fingers whispering over the shell of her ear.
""Sleep well, little one."" She heard him breathe huskily over his prisoner as the darkness claimed her.

Author Spotlight Interview 

1. Who is your favorite hero of fiction? I measure every book hero against Edward Rochester from Jane Eyre. I’m desperate to write a modern-day adaption of the book.   
2. What is your greatest regret? I try not to regret anything, because every decision I’ve made has led me to where I am today, and there’s no greater place to be.
3. Which book have you read the most in your lifetime? Probably Sweet Valley High #1, Double Love. Lol! As an adult, I’d say Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley. I love her books!
4. Which book that you’ve written is your favorite? Always the one I’m working on at the moment. If I don’t love those characters the most, then no one else will either.
5. What do you do as a hobby? Hobby? What’s that? Is laundry considered a hobby? Since I no longer have any extra time in my schedule, my only remaining hobby is reading. I read as much as I can and always have. Even in law school, I’d finish eight hours of homework and pick up a legal thriller to read.
6. How long on average does it take you to write a book? Too long. Every subsequent book takes than the previous. I used to write a 90,000-word book in two months. Now it takes me on average four to six months, including revisions. 
7. What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book? Research is one of my favorite things to do, and as an erotic suspense author, I get to research some odd topics. The majority of my research is on BDSM. Not just the different kinks involved, but the psychology of it. I usually do my research as I go, but I try not to allow the research to interfere with my writing time. Most recently, I researched Pit Bulls for my work-in-progress.
8. What are you working on now? I’m finishing up the third book in my Forbidden Lovers series with Grand Central Forever. After, I’m going to spend a few months writing novellas to self-publish and at the same time, write a proposal for my publisher.
9. How did you come up with the idea for your book? I knew the characters before the plot. Most of the book’s conflict derived naturally from their relationship to one another. But I was also inspired by a news article I read, as well as the movies Terminator and War Games. I’m a big proponent of asking the question, “What if?”
11. Are reader reviews important to you? Yes and no. It hurts when I get a bad review, but at the same time, I believe everybody is entitled to their opinion and not everyone will love my books. But reviews are important to an author, both in terms of marketing and craft. It feeds the algorithm on Amazon and in terms of exposure, that’s a necessary evil. When I began my writing journey, I wrote for my own pleasure with no intention of publishing my books. Now, I’m not just a writer, but an author. The books are for my readers, and if they don’t enjoy them, there’s no point in publishing them.
10. What inspires you to write? Um, my deadline? I always want to write, but I have more ideas than time.
12. Are there any nuggets of wisdom you can impart to aspiring writers? Don’t be in a rush to publish. Too many writers, me included, published before they were ready. Learn your craft and perfect it. Also, find your tribe, meaning the women who support you and lift you up. I have a Facebook chat with a few romance writers and we talk every few days. I wouldn’t have found success without them.

Who is Muffy Wilson in her own words?I am a wife, mother, daughter and sister first and an author of provocative romance about love, sex, hope and passion second. I was born in Texas to traditional parents. With two older brothers, I was the youngest, the family "princess," indulged and pampered. My father was a career Colonel and pilot in the U.S. Air Force which required our family to travel extensively. I spent my formative years in Europe and 'came of age' in France (a state of affairs that gave my father much cause for concern one loooong summer on the Italian Riviera!) which forged my joie de vivre and love for books, writing and education. I liked Aldo a lot then too.
What is one thing you would like the world to remember you for?I am a simple person. I would like to be remembered as a good person, loving wife and nurturing mother. I never met a stranger nor turned anyone away that needed help. And I have tried hard to learn from my mistakes but I am not always successful in that endeavor!
What got you into writing?An old boyfriend from high school.  We reconnected after all these years and he writes self-help real estate books. And I was selling real estate on the side, so we still had a lot in common. That said, I took a significant departure from self-help to provocative romance.
Are you a full-time author or do you have a day job as well, and if so, what do you do?
When I first started writing fiction in 2010, I was still working but I have since retired and devote most of my free time to writing and anything that will keep me from doing any housework!!
Where do you get your greatest ideas for writing?My story lines come from people: watching them, listening to them, talking to them about dreams, romance, passions. About their regrets and when they lost their heart. And then, somehow magically, I'll have a dream on one of those many nights I cannot sleep and a story title will come to me. What is your ‘Writing Routine’, if any?I sit in the living room with my husband when he does his crossword puzzles and I write. And write. And write. His questions about clues and comments about the news or a movie go sometimes unanswered when I am in the "zone".
Tell us a saucy/intimate/personal story about yourself.Well, I was almost 36 when I got married. A child of the 60's I had a very free way of thinking about men. I thought it was healthy--at least for me. Since I worked in a man's business world, I lived my life much as men do when it comes to romance. And when I met the man that would steal my heart, I never looked back.
What are your Top (10?) Writing Tips? Writing Advice?Never start with a prologue or the weather, but start.Don’t worry if your first draft is any good; it won’t be. just start.Write every day, at the same time for the same length of time. Self-disciple is only a routine. But you gotta start…So start.Write what you would like to read, from your heart. And start.Allow yourself to change your mind. Change is a reflection of inspiration. A new perspective. But start.Name your work immediately and give it life, honor, position, credibility, purpose. You’ve started!.Keep notes of anything favorite or interesting: names, titles, phrases, descriptions, music.Each new voice requires a new paragraph. If you must, only use “said”. Anything else wastes ink pretentiously. Get started!Be kind to yourself. Your work may not be great or Nobel material, but it is yours. Accept that your voice will change and evolve, but it is still yours.There is no secret to writing. But there is an enemy — procrastination.
