Hi – I’m Lucy Felthouse and I’m from Derbyshire, in England. When I’m not writing, I’m reading, promoting, on social media, watching TV or films, travelling, or out in the countryside with my other half and my dog, Scamp. I also like tea (obviously, it’s a requirement of being British) and chocolate. Especially Cadbury’s, in case you were wondering what to buy me as a gift.
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
I’ve been writing ever since I was a small child. I was forever scribbling away in notebooks and coming up with insane and fantastical stories. It came from my love of reading. I’ve been writing for publication since around 2006.
How did you come up with this storyline?
I’m not entirely sure how I come up with ideas—they just kind of pop into my head. I needed a storyline which was medical, and paranormal (I wanted to do paranormal since I did contemporary in the first Coming in Hot set), and wanted to go a little different with the medical aspect. Again. Last time it was a vet, this time it was a psychiatrist.                What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
The best part is knowing people are reading and (hopefully) enjoying what you’ve created. The worst part is when you get stuck and aren’t sure how to move forward.
What inspires you to write?
Deadlines, mostly!
How did you conduct your research for A Werewolf State of Mind?
Obviously the werewolf aspect of it is entirely made up. But some of the things I had to Google while writing included mental health, sleeping tablets, full moon timings, tranquiliser guns and darts, UK gun laws, how long a stew needs to warm up in the oven. Yeah, I definitely need one of those bracelets that says to delete my browser history when I die.

Possibly my silly sense of humour.
Are reader reviews important to you? Why?
Yes, because the good ones spur you on to keep writing, and the lukewarm or bad ones (mostly, once you’re done pulling faces at the computer) teach you where to improve.
What do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life”
Real life? What is this real life you speak of? LOL. I gave this away earlier, really, in my introduction. I don’t do much else—I’m actually very boring!
Tell us about your other books?
I’ve currently started writing in a slightly new genre for me—reverse harem romance. This is basically where there’s one girl, and several guys, and she doesn’t have to choose between them. She gets to have them all! It’s not cheating—it’s like a polyamorous situation. I was persuaded to give it a go by a friend and found I really enjoyed it. I’ll shortly start work on the second book, Mia’s Wedding—though possibly by the time you read this interview it may well be finished, or even available. The Director of Supernatural Bio-Medicine stepped into the room and took in the scene. “Still hoping that I will let the rest of the team in on what we have been doing over the last year and a half, Dr. Maclead?”Aleah sighed as the analyzer buzzed, letting them know that the blood samples were ready to be removed. “Of course I am, Dr. Morgan. The tension between me and the rest of the team isn’t getting better, which is making it very hard to work with them. Now that we are getting more patients to study I need to be able to work with the rest of the team. They already feel that I am not a true part of the team since all I deal with is blood and I’m tired of trying to prove otherwise.”Dr. Morgan walked over to the Hematologist and laid his hand on her left shoulder, “I hear you, Aleah, I really do. But until we figure out what is going on inside your blood we can’t include anyone else.”Wyatt walked over to the two of them and took his fiancé into his arms, rubbing her back as he tried to comfort her. “I know all of this is hard on you, love. But the Director is right; until we figure out what is going on with your blood we need to keep it down to just the three of us.”Aleah took a deep breath and pulled out of her lover’s arms, grabbing the four tubes of blood out of the analyzer. “Logically I get it but on a deeper level it is all very frustrating. Where are the slides?”Wyatt and Dr. Morgan shared a look. The two had been working with the Hematologist long enough to know when they were being dismissed and the conversation they were having was being ended.
The Endocrinologist handed a long, flat, glass slide to the Hematologist, who took it without a word and stalked over to the microscope. She knew that she wasn’t going to get anywhere with the Director about her request yet she made it on a daily basis. Aleah was tired of her co-workers treating her like she was a Typhoid Mary because she was working so closely with Dr. Morgan.

How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing? I’ve been writing for about 30 years, give or take. I have always loved making new worlds and helping others escape reality for a few hours
How did you come up with this storyline? I have always loved the paranormal and when I started writing this story I realized that I could have a lot of fun with that aspect. Having supernatural beings born with their abilities seemed like a fun way to get in depth with the medical world What are the best and the worst aspects of writing? Best aspects of writing is that as you write you know that you are creating different worlds that have never been explored before and knowing that there is someone (or many somones) out there that will enjoy reading them. The worst aspects of writing are coming up with the blurbs because you have to sum your story up in like 500 words or less
What inspires you to write? To be completely honest, everything inspires me to writeHow did you conduct your research for Paranormal Anatomy? I delved through my mom’s anatomy books and made many trips to the library to get the medical speech on point. I also spoke with a few friends in the medical field to be sure that I was using the equipment the way they should be. I also searched the internet and library for information on all of the animals I used for the shifters in my work
What are 3 of your favorite quotes from Paranormal Anatomy? ~The tension between me and the rest of the team isn’t getting better, which is making it very hard to work with them.~Let me see if I can explain it in a way that will ease your mind; when the Supernatural Bio-Medicine department was put together it was because some humans in high places wanted an area where they could keep track of the supernatural within their midst.~“I suppose neither of us could be bothered to pay attention to the other team members where sex and love are concerned. The two of us have been so into each other since we started spending time together.”
Anything more about this book (i.e. series?) from Paranormal Anatomy? This is a sequel to a book I wrote last year titled Blood Bio-Med. While it is a sequel it can still be read all by itself. I will say that in this book you find out why the main heroine is so different from her colleagues, which was a fun twist to write ;-)
What would your friends say is your best quality? My imagination, hands down. I can keep my friends entertained for hours just by coming up with plots for new stories and giving them a run-down as to what I see playing out in my head
Are reader reviews important to you? Yes and no. Why? Well, while reader reviews tell you how well you’ve written a story said story isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. This may sound strange but the reviews I really pay attention to are the ones that tell me what areas of my writing skills need to be worked onWhat do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life” I used to be my mom’s caregiver before she passed away in February but now I work in a call center as a customer service rep. It is something I have done before in my life and something I am pretty good at. Best of all it has taken me out of the caregiving field which I don’t think I have the heart to continue working in. I am also a mother of five children (15 year old boy, 13 year old daughter, 10 year old daughter and 8 year old twin daughters) and six furbabies (four cats and two dogs) as well as a wife of twelve years to an extremely patient and supportive man.
Tell us about your other books? I’m not working on anything right now but I have lots of ideas written down to get started on in a few months. I DO have Blood Bio-Med and The Thrill of the Chase out right now. As I mentioned earlier Paranormal Anatomy is the sequel to Blood Bio-Med and I am really excited to be continuing the Beyond Medical Science series. The Thrill of the Chase is about a couple learning to live with the fact that the male counterpart is now a shifter. *leans forward and whispers* Can you keep a secret? I am working on crossing the world in The Thrill of the Chase with the world in the Beyond Medical Science series. There is a sequel to The Thrill of the Chase in the works (only in outline form now but it will be great when it’s finished, I promise). Oh I almost forgot about Love Story of a Reaper! That one will be released soon and it’s about a woman who discovers that she isn’t human ;-) There is also The Secret of Site G which is included in the Sin & Seduction box set that is available as well <3
If you could share one thing about yourself that you would like readers to know what would it be? Hmmmm, let me think about that for a moment. I spend most of my outline/planning mode for writing doing intensive research; the area I plan on making the story in (unless it’s completely fabricated), the animals I will be using in the story for the shifter’s animal forms, and the mythology behind the plot. I also try to do something that hasn’t been done before or not used very often.

Like most authors, Elvira Bathory has always loved to read. When she was younger she had always been creative and dreamed of being the next big thing in music but found she didn’t make the cut for that creative outlet so she turned to other means of creativity. She started spinning worlds and fell in love with the idea of being a writer. When she turned 28 years old she decided it was time for her to settle down and married the man who had been pursuing her for years. Shortly after the two got married they started a family and Elvira decided it was time to dust off those old notebooks that contained her creative words so she would be able to stay home with her children. Five children later and Elvira took a chance, submitting some of her worlds wherever she could. Despite the fact that she hasn’t been published for very long she hasn’t slowed down in creating her worlds. She writes in the erotic genre, with a paranormal flair. She prefers to write about shifters, using animals that have never been used before or haven’t been used that often and she loves delving into the research to make her characters come to life. Who is Muffy Wilson in her own words?I am a wife, mother, daughter and sister first and an author of provocative romance about love, sex, hope and passion second. What is one thing you would like the world to remember you for?I am a simple person. I would like to be remembered as a good person, loving wife and nurturing mother. I never met a stranger nor turned anyone away that needed help. And I have tried hard to learn from my mistakes but I am not always successful in that endeavor!
What got you into writing?An old boyfriend from high school. We reconnected after all these years and he writes real estate self-help books. I took a significant departure from self-help to provocative romance.
Are you a full-time author or do you have a day job as well, and if so, what do you do?When I first started writing fiction in 2009, I was still working as a General Manager for Ethan Allan and then Robb & Stucky, both high-end furniture companies. I entered the world of real estate sales as well, but I have since retired and devote most of my free time to writing and anything that will keep me from doing any housework!!
You’ve written a lot of other books. Is Erotica the only genre you write in? And if yes, how do you keep doing it? I got bored after one book… How often do you need to take masturbation breaks (if any)? OMG, that was funny! You surprised me with that one!! Actually, in the beginning most of what I wrote was short stories and I took plenty of masturbation breaks! Now my books are more story than sexual content. I get bored with the repetition and in truth, our lives do not revolve around sex but are complimented by it. What is more important is the human bondage that precedes a sexual liaison that I find most interesting. Like you, I have branched out but sex is still a fundamental part of the human condition and connection after all, people are enigmas.
Finally, what can we expect and look forward from you in the future? Plug away…Last year was a very busy year from me. I worked very hard and produced a number of wonderful stories I was honored to have featured in several collections. I wrote several standalone features and a few series. Much of my new work has been a real leap of faith for me into the Paranormal and Sci-Fi-Shape Shifter genre. It has been fun and a real stretch for me. 2018 will prove to be an even bigger year for me as I have six books and collections releasing in the first six months. Hello, it’s nice to meet you. Can I pour you a cup of tea?
How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing? I wrote a lot in High School and then put it away when I finished University. Nine years ago, I started writing fan fiction again, and I’ve been writing ever since.
How did you come up with this storyline? I had an idea for a secretary turning the tables on her boss. Then that boss became a family doctor.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing? There are few lulls or dead spaces in my stories. Unfortunately, that often results in stories that go too fast and end too quickly. I’ve gotten some feedback regarding that problem.
What are 3 of your favorite quotes from Dynamic Destiny? ~ Of course, that shouldn’t make her feel warm and fuzzy. It should terrify her. What would happen when he learned who she was?Sliding behind her wheel, she rested her forehead on it. She was so screwed.
~ Next time he was at the club, he would do what it took to get Mistress D’s attention.
~ Leaning back into the chair, she sighed. His fingers worked along her arch, thumbs digging into her heel. Knots built over the day melted away, leaving her toes tingling. He rubbed those next, flexing them up and down. She sighed when he switched feet. He was better at this than she expected. Her hand brushed the strap on she still wore and she stroked it, enjoying the feeling.
Are reader reviews important to you? Why?No. I mean I love getting them, but I try not to read them. A bad one can really set me back.
What do you do when you don’t write? Like in “Real Life”I am an environmental consultant focusing on plants and vegetation. It’s seasonal, but keeps me busy!
Tell us about your other books? I have two series. The first and longest is Blue Moon House about a BDSM house of vampires. Each subsequent book goes back in time to reveal how each vampire came to Blue Moon House. The other is Ghosts of Salem. Each of the four members of a coven in present-day Salem are tied to a witch foremother. The gain control of their power and talents through visions and interactions with Geoffrey, a ghost from the witch trials that haunts their house.

Hi, I’m Linda O’Connor, and I’m very excited to bring a Canadian flare to the Coming in Hot: Rescue Me boxed set. I’m from Ontario, Canada, and I’ve written a hockey medical romance. I don’t have a lot of experience playing hockey, but I have three sons – and I’ve spent a lot of time watching it. :D
Why do you write romance novels? I’m a physician, and I started writing because I wanted to find a fun way to disseminate medical information and to educate and empower readers to take ownership of their health. Targeting a female audience with romance novels seemed like a good idea because women are usually the ones who see a doctor. (Males typically only go when a girlfriend/partner/spouse/mom encourages them to do so. :D) I write romantic comedies because I love being in a fun headspace when I’m writing. I think laughter is essential to great health!
What is one of your favorite things about writing?My favorite thing about writing is creating the storyline and figuring out how I’m going to make things happen - with humor and a bit of the unexpected thrown in.
When you're brainstorming for a new story, what usually comes first for you, the plot or the characters?The characters. And I can’t start writing until I’ve nailed down the characters’ names. The male names are the hardest because I have 3 sons, and they have a lot of friends. The name can’t remind me of anyone I know.
Where do you find inspiration for your stories?Everywhere! News stories, headlines, snippets of conversations I hear, lyrics of songs, watching people and putting a story behind their body language or expression – they all inspire my imagination.
What is your favorite quote? It ain’t no use putting up your umbrella till it rains. Alice Caldwell Rice So simple, but excellent advice for all those worry-worts – don’t be worrying about something that may not happen!
Name two things people don’t know about you? I don’t drink coffee. I make earrings as a hobby (it’s handy for gifts!).
Describe your ‘perfect’ writing day.Get up. Eat breakfast. Write until noon with a Skittle break at 10:30 a.m. Eat lunch. Write until 3 p.m. and get 4000 sublime, no-need-to-edit words done. Go for a bicycle ride. Swim. Share a healthy dinner with my family that someone else has cooked. Go to Zumba. Shower. Spend the evening at book club with my friends. Sleep and dream of the next chapter before waking completely refreshed. Haha.
Tell us about your other books?
I’ve written six novels in the Perfectly Series – medical romantic comedies in small towns – and the sixth one was going to be the final one, BUT haha, I joined other authors in a couple of boxed sets and wrote two Perfectly Series novellas to include. Behind the Bench is the second book in my new medical hockey romance series. I’m excited to start a new series – and what’s more Canadian than hockey!

Ethan closed his laptop and tucked the stack of paid bills into a file folder. Nothing like a lively Saturday afternoon.He automatically listened for sounds of Mateo in the house, but silence greeted him. Mateo and Pipo were having a sleepover at the ranch. Doubtless, his son was riding a tractor and learning to run the log splitter.He should have gone with Mateo rather than sit around the house all day. Ethan pushed off the chair and aimed toward the kitchen and a cold beer. He’d finished a ten-mile run, so he could imbibe guilt free.From the comfort of the kitchen, he contemplated his options for entertainment. He could alphabetize the spice rack. He could binge watch a season of something from Starz or Netflix. Or he could schlep on down to a bar. All by himself? That didn’t sound appealing.He wondered what Sam was up to. Sometimes, but he’s obsessed with reuniting with his long-lost toys and bones.”“Are you going to take up residence in the shrubs or do I just get to admire the view?”Sam squeaked, and her butt bobbed. She scrambled out of the bushes, but her hair caught on the stiff twigs and leaves. She whimpered, and it sounded like muffled tears were imminent.“This is ridiculous. I need help.”“Hold on.” Ethan wrangled a branch that was woven through her loose top-knot and was likely digging into her scalp. “Better?”
Sam backed up a few inches, and her sweater hiked up and exposed the creamy flesh of the small of her back and the hint of purple polka-dotted panties. He grinned.

Hey all,
Coming to you today with a little bit from the heart so I hope you'll hang with me and have a read. No, this isn't a happy post and for that I apologize but I do hope you'll read it anyway.
I'm hurt, yes, truly hurt by the lack of reaction to my newest release, Accidentally Forever, in the Coming in Hot: Rescue Me collection. This book was hard for me to write but I did it, finally. My mistake was thinking readers still wanted it.

Many of you know I have been around a long, long time in this business and I have always tried to be geared toward providing for the readers, first and foremost. Money has always taken a backseat to everything I have done, and that includes the house percentage in my publishing contracts. (For those who don't know, I run Naughty Nights Press and have published over 450 authors over the years, many who are still with my trad house, and several of which have gone on to become USA Today bestsellers under my tutelage.)
Over the years I've noticed one big and concerning thing happening: reader appreciation is fading. If a book isn't free or 99cents it gets very little attention.
Why does this disturb me? Because it's readers basically saying my writing isn't worth more than that, which just makes me wonder why I bother. If I can't measure up, if I am not enough, then maybe it's time to just pack it all in and leave the writing world.

When I first started NNP a decade ago, we created boxed sets and anthologies, most of which sold easily and in high numbers for no less than 4.99-9.99 or more. Single title books would fly off the shelves at 3.99-5.99, print books at no less than $10, and my authors actually earned a living.
Now? Well, let me tell you how things have changed. As a pub house, I offer to my authors: highly competent editors, designers, marketing and writing advice, often even just a supporting ear to get them through a tough spot in life or in writing, and so much more. I get their works out there to the readers while still offering a reasonable and decent compensation package. In a nutshell, as many of them will tell you, I go above and beyond what they've experienced elsewhere.
Why? Because of the love I have for the books, the appreciation I have for their talent, and the knowledge I've retained over the many years in the business may as well get put to good use, right? Because I know their worth it.
One problem, even if I take nothing out of the coffers for my own personal use, I still have to pay the others who work for and with me. At 99cents this isn't even possible. That's less than minimum wage for a single person, let alone the several I have who are part of my amazing team. Don't get me started on how little that gives the authors, too!
Really? They should spend every waking moment slogging though the processes of writing, marketing, social media, trolls and reviews, drama and all this career entails, and not even make enough to pay the rent? Where did this world change in how much authors are worth? It's truly become something I could never have foreseen and it makes me heartsick to know each payday that I am going to suffer horrible feelings over those small royalty checks when my authors have busted ass. Now, some may say this speaks to my talent as a pub, but my authors and I disagree. If we did it years ago, sold our work for reasonable compensation, then this has nothing to do with my house's skills or any lack thereof.What it does speak to is the lack of choice. Readers are being continuously conditioned to accept sub-par works, and to pay the minimum amount possible for those books. Problem is, now the expectation extends to high quality books, too. This is wrong on so many levels!
Then we have anthologies and boxed sets. Nope, not dissing them because I create them, too, so y'all just chill out. I am not, nor have I ever been, anti-indie. Quite the opposite as many will speak to.
Anyway, wow, so 99cents isn't even enough to pay for 16-20 novels and novellas, huh? Unbelievable. Then there's those who read the whole damn thing and then have the audacity and ignorance to return it! WTH? Return a huge collection for a refund of the $1 they paid to have so many hours to get lost in. Seriously? What gives? I'd like to return the $20k car for a full refund after I've used it to its capacity in 6 years, too, but...not realistic is it.
Don't know what I'm talking about?On my most recent release, the CIH2 set, there's been 8 returns already. In two days. Nope, not formatting or any issues other than greed, or maybe it'll get pirated. Who knows anymore how this is justified. Amazon checked that collection before publication and they informed me of the only two issues of concern, which were minor and spelling related in half a million words, yes, two errors, so I know in advance it's not the set itself. Digital books should never be returnable unless there's a legit issue, but sadly Amazon disagrees and that's another fight for another day.

Why does this bug me so much? It's only 8, right? Compared to the thousands of sales so far in two days, the multiple #1 Bestseller orange tags, and the almost Top 500 rank we sported on Amazon for a bit, or the Top 50 listings on all other vendors, 8 returns should be a drop in the bucket, right?
Yeah, no. The contributing authors busted ass for months, yes, months. We started the organization of this collection last February, over a year ago. Writing the books and then setting up all the marketing and ads, posting, tweeting, doing takeovers and giveaways, hitting up friends, family, street teams and followers for a little share, paying fellow authors to include a mention in their newsletters--or watching, disappointed again as authors who may not have a gazillon subscribers are overlooked in favor of those who do (this in and of itself sickens me. When did it become more about how much you could be used than it did about lifting another up? I have never and will never charge authors I put in my newsletters, nor do I demand or expect a swap only from authors with an equal amount of subs--I've been around a long time so my lists are extensive and I wouldn't expect many have that high a count)...and all that was pretty much an exhausting waste of time for those involved, imho.
Why? Because for a set that readers clamored for after the first CIH last year, begging for a second one, this one hasn't done anywhere near what it should have and that is so much more disappointing than you may realize. I'm not going to go into the reasons why, cause I'm sure that's obvious, but I will say again what it means to me to see this. It means we are not worth that single dollar for a half a million words or more. Not good enough. That thought process sticks with ya after a while, ya know? Not enough.
To those readers who supported CIH2, you remain amazing and in my heart always, the reason behind each book I struggle to write amid the daily chronic pain that only increases every year. I know many of you held out the hope during my six year hiatus and you knew better than me that I would write again instead of just being a publisher, and for that I thank you. You were right. I can't leave that part of my heart behind even if it's for a good cause. I will continue to write.
What I won't do, however, is release another one of my hard won works as a 99cent book. I won't devalue my books and put them in Kindle Unlimited, cause that is a death sentence in the making for many authors, imho, and I won't put my books on sale for that piddly amount anymore. I won't do giveaways of my books or any of the authors I publish. I won't publish their books at that low amount anymore. They deserve better, as do I, as do my editors and designers and marketing team.
These people work hard to bring you the top quality books we have for many years, and it's long past time we get back to showing that appreciation for that hard work with real compensation. Will we regret this decision? Maybe, but I doubt it cause my gut says the majority of the talented authors I know are going to follow suit soon enough. We've made a huge mistake in practically giving away our books for the last couple years, or in allowing the KU program to cheapen our works. A huge error in judgment that seems to have resulted in readers expecting free or 99cents, always, for every book, and not willing to pay for the work we put in. I'm appalled at some of the feedback some authors get daily when they don't price at 99cents! I've seen too many emails and it ain't pretty to know this is how much value is placed on our hard work.
We'd make more at a coffee shop or fast food joint so I guess for some of us that's going to be the option soon. It's long past time we regain the ability to know our own worth. I dunno about you, but I am sure as hell worth far more than $1, as are my fellow authors and other industry professionals. The time to make change is here.

He twisted the documents he’d brought with him as an insurance policy to make sure she’d come with him into a tight roll. She’d be pissed if he enforced the Phoenix Mate Acquisition Contract, but he couldn’t keep living the way things were. He was going crazy. He treated everyone like shit, and no amount of apologizing was erasing the weariness in the eyes of those he came across.Just yesterday, he’d yelled at Cortney, his Alpha’s new mate. Her eyes had welled with tears, but she’d tilted her chin up and hadn’t said a word. Draven, however, hadn’t been so quiet. He’d gone after him in the yard like a raging bull. “This ends now.
