Quiz – Are you connected to your soul power?

Your connection to your power is linked to your ability to co-create your life and shapes how it unfolds. This quiz is designed to tease out where you are deeply connected to your own spiritual power, and where you might be leaking power or actually giving it away.
As you read the questions below, mark the one that most honestly matches your beliefs or behaviour and scroll down to the bottom to see how you score.
You get turned down for a job you wanted. What’s your response?
a) It’s obviously a clear message that I’m on the wrong path.
b) I try to get past any hurt feelings to see if I’m heading in the wrong direction or if there’s something I need to learn so that I can improve the skills I would need in my field or do a stronger interview in the future. That way I can give it a better go next time.
c) If they can’t see how amazing I am, it’s their loss! My confidence might get a bashing in the moment, but I just pick myself up and keep going.
Which of the following most closely resembles your philosophy of life?
a) Our lives are laid out before we’re born. If it’s meant to be, it will happen.
b) Our future isn’t set in stone and I think we’re here to learn through experience so that we have more influence in what unfolds.
c) Everything that happens to us is down to our efforts. If you want something, you just have to go for it and if you work hard enough, you’ll get there.
What’s your attitude to horoscopes?
a) I read quite a few versions of my horoscope and pick the one that gives me the most positive view of what’s going to happen.
b) I read my horoscope to check what the planets are up to so that I can work with the energy of how they play out in my sign or personal chart.
c) I never read my horoscope. What happens in my life is all down to me, not what’s going on in the stars.
How do you go about making a decision?
a) I find it really difficult. I do ask other people what they think I should do, but even then I struggle to get round to actually doing something in case I get it wrong.
b) The more impact a decision will have on my life, the more carefully I go about it. I’ll research my options and at the same time try and stay open for any signs or intuitive hunches that I get and they feed in to what I end up doing.
c) I just make them and move on. If I’ve made the wrong one, I just make another. The important thing is to keep looking forward, not going back over old ground.
Which of the following statement most matches your experience of being single?
a) I know I shouldn’t, but I sort of put parts of my life on hold until I’m in a relationship. I can’t get around the feeling that there is a big gap in my life that I know a relationship would fill.
b) I stay open to the idea of meeting someone, but there’s a lot to be said for just being able to please yourself! I can look back and see that the times I’ve been single have been amazing in terms of the directions I’ve followed that I might not have been able to do if I’d had to take someone else’s needs into consideration.
c) I think it’s all about how you play the cards you’re dealt. I throw myself into everything one hundred per cent. There’ve been periods where I’ve used time alone to get on in my career and others where I’ve decided I do want to meet someone so I go all out to do that!
You buy a lamp from a junk shop and as you’re cleaning it a Genie pops up and says that you can ask any one question you want and you will be given a truthful answer. What kind of question are you most likely to ask?
a) What’s going to happen to me?
b) What within me needs transforming and how do I go about it?
c) Who on earth are you and what are you doing in my lamp?
You get a really strong hunch that you should do something in particular. What do you do?
a) I ask my friends or people who know me what they think about it. If they think it’s a good idea, I go ahead, but if they don’t, I drop it.
b) I stay with the feeling to double check it’s a genuine intuition and not just a whim or a knee jerk reaction to something, and if I’m sure it’s pure intuition, I act on it.
c) If it’s along the lines of what I was going to do anyway, I’ll take it as confirmation. If it isn’t, I ignore it.
A conversation with someone you know reveals that you both see something very differently or hold opposing views on a subject. What do you do?
a) I automatically think I must be wrong.
b) I listen to what they have to say but ultimately we all have to decide for ourselves what we think is right.
c) I explain why they are wrong and hopefully they get it!
A brilliant opportunity comes your way, but it means a major change to your current life. What do you do?
a) Play for time whilst I ask people who know me what they think I should do.
b) Wow! If it’s right, I’ll take it and I’ll do my best to integrate the changes so that I can keep what’s already good in my life and add more.
c) You wouldn’t see me for dust! I’d grab it with both hands and be off in a heartbeat!
How good are you at nurturing yourself?
a) I know what I should do, but I never really follow through with anything. I get pretty stressed but I can never find the time to meditate and I signed up for a yoga class last year and only managed to get to two classes. It’s all a bit like that.
b) I’ve got a pretty good balance. Sometimes life gets very busy and I don’t make time for the things that I know will best support me, but then that’s really a false economy as I can feel my energy going through the floor!
c) If I get to the point where I can feel my stress levels are going through the roof I’ll have a massage or maybe go to a spa if I can stretch to it, but it’s not really part of my focus at any other time.
What’s your understanding of fear?
a) Fear is a warning that you’re heading into danger and should turn back.
b) Fear is information. When you feel it, you have to work out what you’re really afraid of. Is it giving you a real warning, or is it a clue that you’re pushing up against the edge of your current experience and could be about to expand it into amazing new territory if you support yourself through it in the right way?
c) Fear is there to be smashed through.
Now add up your scores
Mostly A
It looks like somewhere along the line you’ve lost your connection to your own power. That might be down to experiences early on or throughout your life that made you decide deep down that there was nothing you could do that would have an impact on anything that happens, or you might have actually given bits away here and there without being totally aware of what you were doing or what would happen as a result. The good news is that you can turn this around. You are divine and connected to the whole just like everyone else.
If you want to start reclaiming your power, begin with some soul searching to reveal any payoffs you might be trying to gain by giving it away. Others can try and take our power from us and we can give it up in return for what we hope will then be a quiet life, but sometimes we can feel tempted to give away our power so that we can avoid responsibility for our own happiness and even our destiny. We can hope that someone or something will step in and take care of us if we won’t or don’t take care of ourselves.
The truth is, the only thing you get from giving your power away is less power, which means you erode your own ability to co-create the life you want. If you’re not sure where to start, read the other answers to the questions to give you ideas about different ways of going about things.
Learning to meditate is always a brilliant place to start as it puts you in a place of stillness where you can connect with your own intuition, observe your own thoughts and sift out those that are authentically yours and those that are thought viruses – other people’s ideas that have ended up in your mind that you’ll want to gently usher out!
You can reclaim your life one baby step at a time or in leaps and bounds. Even the speed at which you do it is down to you! You’ll find loads of free resources on this site to help you in what will turn out to be an amazing journey that can start right away!
Mostly B
When it comes to seeing yourself as master or mistress of your own destiny, you’ve got a good balance going on between engaging practical reality and nurturing and paying attention to your divine source of inner guidance and connection to the whole. You’re likely to have goals and ambitions, but you’re probably less attached to what actually happens in life and more interested in how you can stretch and expand yourself through every experience so that you can be at your most creative and stay open to possibilities that actually might be better than those you thought of yourself.
You work to tune up your psychic antennae and field of awareness which allows you to weave together all of the elements in the cosmos in the creation of your life. Discerning what information is valid and what you can consider and then put to one side is important to you.
You’ve probably spent some time pondering or working with a few esoteric principles, such as the Law of Attraction, the Tao paradox of not-doing as a way of getting everything done, or the hermetic idea changing your inner world to influence an external reality. If you keep working as you are doing, you’re going to deepen your connection to your true and authentic power and enhance your abilities to co-create your life!
Mostly C
You definitely see yourself as master or mistress of your life, but you might even find the word ‘destiny’ itself far too woo-woo for your liking! As far as you’re concerned, if you can’t see it, smell it, touch it or taste it, you don’t have time to debate whether it exists or not and you’d rather get on by yourself and leave the metaphysical pondering to people who’ve got time for that sort of thing.
You’ve probably got some incredible results already by just putting your mind to something with one hundred per cent focus and setting yourself to go full steam ahead. At some point, however, you stopped believing in anything magical or mystical. It doesn’t really matter why. It could just be the result of having the idea that such things don’t exist being drummed into you. What’s more important is that you at least give yourself the opportunity to connect with the far greater whole that you’re already a part of so that you can see what that’s like.
If you’ve ever seen the Magician in the Rider Waite Tarot deck, what the card shows is really just an ordinary mortal who is drawing down power from the cosmos and blending it in an alchemical process with all of the elements of experience in the process of creation. You have that capacity within you. You are amazing. Now imagine what you can achieve when you have the entire universe working on your side! If you wanted to go that route, where you do start? Again, you’ll find loads of free resources here that will give you ideas on what to explore.
For you, it’s important that you get results quickly otherwise you can talk yourself out of any kind of spiritual exploration. Research has shown that just six hours of meditation can be enough to start literally rewiring the brain and making you feel more relaxed, and in that relaxed state you can create a space in which you can connect with the divine side of yourself that you are shutting out, so set yourself a six week challenge of meditating for twenty minutes a day for just one month and see how you feel at the end of it. It’s not much to invest in what actually could turn out to be the start of the most incredible journey you could possibly take!
loads of love,

Your Life Path number revealed

The numbers of our date of birth are the fixed aspect of the Numerology chart. These numbers unlike the numbers of the name do not change. The overall date of birth number is often called the Destiny or Life Path number. It provides clues about the kind of work we are best suited to. On a spiritual level this number relates to the work we came here to do.
There are several ways to calculate this number all of which are perfectly right but I am going to share with you the method that I personally use. With some of the other methods we can miss the higher master numbers and so miss the opportunity to reach our full potential. In these changing times as we move toward 2012 I feel it is important to utilise these higher energies.
To calculate your Life Path Number we need to add together all of the numbers of your date of birth. For example see below;
Day of birth = 31
Month of birth = 07
Year of birth = 1955
Day + Month + Year (31 + 07 + 1955) = 1993
Life Path number (1+9+9+3) = 22
Twenty two is one of the Master numbers and has a higher vibrational energy to it and so we would look at the number 22 in the chart below. If we reduce this number again by adding 2+2 we get 4 so we would also look at the number 4. Both of these numbers would be relevant to this person. With 4 as the number of stability and order we can see that in order to fully utilise the energy of the number 22 this person would need to have a stable secure home life. Twenty two is the number of sensitivity and often brings the gifts of empathy or clairsentience which can sometimes be difficult to work with. It is also the number of the Architect the people who design and plan and make things happen.

Your Soul Mate Tarot Spread: Discover Your Lover!

I love the Tarot because it is such a powerful tool, not just for looking at future trends appearing in our lives, but as a personal empowerment and discovery tool. The Tarot works as Guidance for the Soul, showing us the path we should be heading down, helping us uncover and work on our fears, and revealing
key information on people in and also who are about to enter our lives.
This technique I am about to share with you is all about discovering your soul mate – or more accurately, the next soul mate who is about to enter your life. However, before you embark on this exercise, please bear in mind that the term ‘soul mate’ applies to so many connections – not just a lover although people tend to think that this is exclusively what it means.
A soul mate can arrive in the form of a friend, a collaborator, a boss, a teacher or even an animal. Keep an open mind before you begin and understand the universe will send through the next soul mate that is appropriate for where you are in your journey right now.
Soul mates are those souls with whom we have an agreement to share certain experiences and work through certain lessons together. The time we spend together can range from a few weeks to an entire lifetime.
As usual with any Tarot exercise, disconnect your phone and ensure you won’t be disturbed. You can light candles, decorate your space with crystals and flowers, and put on ambient music if you like – this is your process and your soul-mate discovery time so make it special as the soul you are going to meet! Ensure you have your Tarot journal to hand to record your insights. Take out your Tarot deck and begin to shuffle it. As you do, say the following affirmation:
‘I am ready with an open heart and an open mind to attract and meet my next soul mate who forms the next stage our soul evolutionary journey together’.
When you are ready, stop shuffling you deck. Lay it face down and cut it into three piles in any way you like, and then put the deck back together again in any order your want. Deal the top four cards face down with the first card at the top, the second at the bottom, the third on the left and the fourth on the right so you have a cross. When you are ready, turn up the card at the top of the spread.
Card 1: Your Next Soul Mate Challenge: This card reveals key information about the type of soul mate that is coming your way and also the soul contract or lessons you have agreed to share this lifetime.
Spend time with this card and really use your intuition to step outside of the usual interpretations attached to it. Yes, if it is a Court Card it will be telling you a lot about the type of person you are about to attract. But even if it is a Minor Arcana card, it is going to have a lot to say about your new soul connection. Write down your impressions and when you are ready, turn over the card at the bottom of the spread.
Card 2: Enter Your Soul Mate! The position of this card tells you a lot about how, where or when you will meet or encounter your soul mate. Remember, if an Ace turns up here they tend to mark seasons – Ace of Wands Spring, Ace of Cups Summer, Ace of Pentacles Autumn and Ace of Swords – Winter. These are marked by the equinoxes and solstices don’t forget. However, any card can provide you will clues to this so pay attention to background colours and what they suggest. Also, don’t forget in terms of timing your soul mate isn’t existing in a vacuum. They may have other soul contracts to complete or experiences to go through before they are ready to appear. Once you have recorded any insights that come to you, move on to the card on the left of the spread.
Card 3: What You Are Coming Together to Experience: This card will reveal a lot about the type of
relationship you and your soul mate have agreed to work through together. Remember to keep an open mind here especially if you do not pull a card like The Lovers or Two of Cups that seems particularly indicative of a romantic relationship. This card is more about soul lessons than actual form – which may be revealed to you both later or in the final card to the right:
Card 4: Your Connections Destination: This final card shows where you soul connection is ultimately headed based on where you and they are now. So, don’t despair completely if you were to pull a card like the 9 or 10 of Swords, for example. The entire purpose of this spread is to prepare you for your soul mate. If you are not happy with this card, go back and spend more time with Card 3 – what you are coming together to experience. By understanding this lesson properly you have the ability to change the outcome which is why you are doing this exercise in the first place. Knowledge is power and self-empowerment is what the Tarot is all about!
Also, don’t be afraid if you pull cards like Death or The Tower here either. Death represents change or transition and this can mean transiting from being single to being in a relationship, and The Tower represents something which is not built on a solid foundation being overthrow with the opportunity to build something lasting instead.
Record everything in your journal and refer beck to it when your soul mate makes an appearance and you will be amazed at how accurate your insights are and how well they can serve you when it comes to soulmate success!

Don’t freak out but you might be psychic!

I believe that we all have psychic skills that give us the ability to pick up information from around us in ways that we might not be able to otherwise easily explain.
Most people aren’t aware that they are psychic. Sometimes it’s because the information that they could actually tune into gets drowned out by the sheer noise and speed of modern life and all of its heady distractions.
At other times people are tuning in on a psychic level but they might call it something different. If you ask anyone outright if they are psychic, many people will say no. But ask them if they’ve ever had a hunch, a gut feel or an instinct about anything and you’ll suddenly find that you are deluged with stories from all sorts of people about how they just ‘knew’ something without knowing how they knew it. In fact, I’ll stick my neck out and say that the more a person’s job relies on them to be able to tune in and pick up on what’s happened or is likely to happen, like a police officer or a publican, the more they may be honing their own psychic abilities without knowing it.
Along with creating space and quiet time that literally allows our psychic antennae to feed what it might be picking up through to our conscious minds, what could we be on the lookout for as a way of understanding just when we are using our psychic abilities?
1/Significant dreams. We all have a rich dream life and our dreams are packed full of symbolic messages as well as literal encounters on a spiritual plane. I sometimes dream about my mother and have very particular dreams in which I know we are actually meeting up. At other times I might dream of bulls or owls – two symbols I’ve learned to associate with her. How do you know when a dream is significant? It just feels different. It lingers with you long after you’ve woken up and what you sometimes notice is that something then happens in your waking life that makes you go ‘aha! That’s what it meant!’ Keep a dream journal to record them.
2/Physical sensations. If you notice that the hairs on the back of your neck or your arms are standing up, or you get a few butterflies in your tummy for no good reason, that might just be your body’s way of registering that you’ve picked up on something in the psychic ether. Over time, you’ll get to know your ‘signature’ response. It might be something bizarre, like an itchy right ear.
3/Feeling compelled to do something or finding that you’re actually doing it without realising. It might be that you wake up one morning and just know that you have to go to a certain place that day or find yourself in a bookshop reaching for a particular book without understanding why. Or you suddenly catch yourself humming or whistling a tune that you might not even like. Psychologists recognise that much of what goes on in our brain actually happens at a totally subconscious level, without us being consciously aware of it. So pay attention if you notice this kind of thing is happening to you.
4/Something just ‘popping’ into your mind. This is a bit like the above, in that most of what goes on in your mind happens below the level of your consciousness or without you really understanding it, but if you suddenly find yourself thinking of a friend you haven’t seen for years without anything happening to remind you of them, pay attention.
5/A synchronicity occurring. Synchronicities are those seemingly chance events that are linked in ways that we can’t see. A couple of years back when I was off to visit my son, I facebooked something like ‘having a shower, wrestling a wombat and then off to Birmingham’. I couldn’t account for why I’d said something so bizarre. When we got to Birmingham I was overjoyed to spot an exhibition of pre-Raphaelite art in which I was captivated by a picture by William Holman Hunt. Researching the picture later on google, the first thing that showed up aas an entry about Rosetti that mentioned he owned a wombat and it was the secret password to the pre-Raphaelites brotherhood!
6/Changes around you – drops in temperatures, sudden shifts in levels of light along with all of the obvious things like hearing sounds you can’t account for or electrical devices mysteriously turning themselves on and off. The mysterious flute player who quite a few people have heard in one of our bedrooms seems to be resting at the moment but it’s a nice and not at all threatening sound.
When you start to tune in and pay attention, not only will you realise that you’re a lot more psychic than you thought you were, but you’ll also probably notice that there is a lot more going on than you might have been aware of. I believe that we are well on the way to science being able to recognise that we all have a sixth sense, intuition or psychic ability. Call it what you will. And when it does, perhaps we won’t be so quick to dismiss this amazing source of information.
Loads of love,
Michele
Protecting your aura

Whether we are a city dweller or live closer to nature, the most important sacred space we have is the space we inhabit – in other words, our aura. Now, the thing is we can choose what we bring in to this space or even allow to enter it. To do this however, we need to have respect for boundaries – our own, and to do whatever is necessary when these boundaries are crossed or invaded.
We all know people who have a negative impact on our energy. This can be due to them being unnecessarily demanding, negative or impossible to please. These kinds of connections drain us and then there’s the more obvious ‘energy vampires’ who seem to take so much from us they leave us feeling depleted and lacking in confidence. The fact is, we are going to encounter these kinds of people throughout our lives and we need to keep our ‘sacred space’ – the energy field that surrounds us, replenished and strengthened so we can deal with them – whether this means cutting off contact with them completely or being unafraid to say ‘No’ to them. This all comes back to boundaries. Boundaries not only keep you and your energy safe, they allow others the opportunity to grow and become more respectful when dealing with others. Had you thought of it that way? Boundaries allow you to communicate honestly but not hurtfully and allow you to come from a place of integrity which builds trust between you and others.
Even Urban Shamans can easily re-charge their sacred space – you don’t even need to be outside although if you can go to a park or open space this will give you an extra boost. All you need do is close your eyes and stand in an open window so you can feel the breeze on you and concentrate on filtering out the city noise and finding the sounds of nature be it the sound of rain, birdsong or the wind in the trees or just feeling the fresh air and sunlight on your face. Raise your arms and imagine light and air flowing through them and recharging first your inner core and then flowing out to cleanse and energise your aura. Feel when the energy reaches the boundaries of your ‘space’ and imagine it creating a shining, radiant energy field that nothing can permeate unless you choose to let it in. Imagine someone negative is standing in front of you. See their negative energy re-bounding away back towards them leaving you unaffected. If necessary imagine yourself saying ‘No’ to their usual demands or tactfully telling them that you are going to be busy for a while and won’t have time to see them. See your Sacred Space glowing stronger as you do this.
When you are ready, lower your arms and open your eyes. Now know you can re-charge this sacred space around you whenever you feel the need to but that now your boundaries are firmly in place. You can now approach negative people and situations with a fresh sense of confidence. Strong boundaries build strong souls.
Time to Restore Balance – Autumn equinox

September 23rd is the day the Sun enters the sign of Libra and the Autumn Equinox. In the Pagan calendar this was known as Mabon (pronounced MAH-bawn) – the day where day and night are divided equally. Libra of course is the sign of balance as symbolised by the scales. As we head towards winter in the Northern hemisphere and summer in the Southern, this is one of those times where spiritually we can benefit from looking carefully at where our lives may be out of blanace and taking steps to restore that where necessary.
Life these days seems to be a trade-off or require us to constantly perform a balancing act in order to meet both our commitments in our lives and also to have the time to do what we want to do as well as what we need to do. Very often this leads to imbalances in certain areas which if we don’t address them, have a ripple effect into others. Balance is crucial to our physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing because without it we can feel as if we are running as fast as we can only remaining in the same spot or else feel we are strapped into a rollercoaster which we are unable to get off as we scramble ever-more frantically to keep pace with our busy lives.
So, as the Equinox approaches, it’s time to step back and ask ourselves four crucial questions:
1: What is your ratio of work, rest and enjoyment? Are you allowing yourself enough time to re-charge or just to go have fun? Have you taken on more than you should have? This is the time to restore the balance here – perhaps by drawing some boundaries and learning how to say ‘no’. Remember, you are no use to anyone if you are suffering burn-out or are tired all the time.
2: Are you focussing on physical wellbeing but ignoring your spiritual fitness? Are you telling yourself that looking after your body is secondary to improving your mind? Either one of these represents imbalance. On the one hand we have the stereo-typical image of the gym-junkie with the perfect abs who doesn’t take time for self-reflection other than to look in a mirror. On the other there is the person who is constantly reading, meditating and doing serious soul work but who is neglecting their body or is unfit. Neither one is a balanced perspective but we are talking extremes here. But you can have too much of a good thing! If physical fitness is your goal you can include yoga in your workout routine to start to embrace the spiritual perspective. And if you’ve been focussed on your spiritual development and ignoring your body’s needs then its time to shift that focus and see it is via your body you are having a spiritual experience and it is your job to care for it for the work to continue! Again, even if you are unfit you can combine the physical and the spiritual either via yoga or else walking meditations and the spiritual dimension of eating right!
3: Do you spend too much time alone or else constantly have to be surrounded by others? Again, these can lead to imbalances. Alone time can be hugely beneficial as it allows us to nurture ourselves and re-charge our batteries as well as pursue creative and spiritual outlets. However, too much and we can end up disconnected from people and strangely enough, our own inspiration! Conversely, if you feel the need to be constantly surrounded by people or be out and about this can lead to you being disconnected from your own inner voice and also show that you are not comfortable in your own company. Balance alone time with the company you keep.
4: Are you substituting something for a deeper need? Do you shop too much? Eat or drink too much? Resort to self-soothing with other possibly illegal substances? Loose yourself in on-line activity, watching TV or risky behaviour? These kinds of situations show we are badly out of balance usually from a deep emotional wound or need within us that is going unanswered. It is never about the addiction or behaviour we are engaged in. We need to treat ourselves with compassion and above all, not be afraid to go get professional help if necessary to get to the bottom of what is really driving the behaviour. If we can find the courage to do that and face our demons, balance will then be restored.
Make Mabon a time of getting the blanace right and give yourself equal time alongside your commitments to do just that.

Don’t ask me that question!

So, ‘what do you do?’
There is nothing worse than being pinned to a corner and grilled on your job title. I get beads of sweat just thinking about it! Imagine if Jesus were alive. “So Jesus, what do you do for a living?”. What would Jesus say? “Well mate, I’m a carpenter by trade!”. This simple illustration explains what is wrong with the most common question we are asked and ask when we meet new people.
It’s easy to feel uncomfortable when people ask “what do you do for a living” as many folk have preconceptions. If you’re a psychic for instance, some people immediately conjure up the cliche of a psychic being someone crouching over a crystal ball with a hankie on their head as they visualise a tall handsome stranger.
On top of that, if you have a vocation, and especially an alternative vocation like psychic/astrologer/healer, it is probably only a part of what you do. On my business card I list ‘Warrior of love’ as my profession as I really can’t put into words what I do or who I am in a box!
Instead of asking about someones job title (which rarely covers a souls journey), I prefer to ask “what’s your passion?” or “what inspires you?” as it usually leads to a more interesting answer and you can instantly get to know the person better and avoid the mundane and superficial.
Currently there is an interesting post on medium.com on this subject and in it the author suggested an alternative; just ask “what’s your story” instead. This is a brilliant and simple idea!
I often wonder how it became the number one question people ask when they meet someone new. Even if we have the most fabulous, soul enhancing job in the world, it does not define us. It’s incredibly exciting to ask someone what their story is and to see the world through someone else’s eyes.
We are all much more than our material worth. It’s great to change the fundamental small things in life so that we can see new interactions in the world, so unless you’re at a job interview or the job centre, let’s spin it! Next time you meet someone, try asking them what their story is or what their passion is instead, and if someone asks you and you don’t want to answer, just tell them your an international woman/man of mystery!
How differently would this lot be seen if they were defined by their previous jobs….
