Two Wolves -The Science of Happiness

One winter’s evening whilst gathered round a blazing camp fire, an old Sioux Indian chief told his grandson about the inner struggle that goes on inside people.
“You see” said the old man, “this inner struggle is like two wolves fighting each other. One is evil, full of anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, deceit, false pride, superiority, and ego”.
“The other one,” he continued, poking the fire with a stick so that the fire crackled, sending the flames clawing at the night sky, “is good, full of joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith”.
For a few minutes his grandson pondered his grandfather’s words and then asked, “So which wolf wins, grandfather?”
“Well”, said the wise old chief, his lined face breaking into a wry smile, “The one you feed!”
Many of us have heard this parable but it is an excellent reminder as we go into 2016 of what we need to focus on to create a healthy happy year. When we feed the shadow wolf and allow our feelings of jealousy, anger, inferiority and ego and allow ourselves to feel justified in negative emotions we are in effect harming ourselves. We are quite literally sending toxic chemicals around our body which cause us to feel bad. A recent study on the science of happiness has shown us that compassion, gratitude and trust release chemicals which lower our heart rate and relieve stress. Darwin said ‘Sympathy is our strongest emotion’ and it has been proven to be scientifically true. We are hardwired to care for others and that leads us back to ourselves. When we count out blessing and care for each other the world is not only a better place but a happier and healthier one. We have the choice in each moment to change and transform our emotions. Not only do we feel better when we count our blessings and are compassionate to each other, we also raise our vibration. When we raise our vibration we attract other people with a similar vibration and soon find ourselves receiving more gratitude and compassion.
Being full of love bring us back to our true selves and releases us from carrying unnecessary baggage from the past. It frees us to begin again in the moment and in the moment of love. Don’t forget to feel compassion and love for you as well. When we feel resentment and anger toward another, no matter how justified we may feel in doing so, the only person who suffers is us as we are the ones who have to carry those feelings. Our true nature is love and when we feed that love we feed our very soul.

Quantum Creating – How to create Psychic Happiness

Want to hitch a ride into your future? Don’t freak out but there’s a theory that time does not exist! Science tells us that in the quantum field, all time is now, which means, in theory, that we can psychically project ourselves anywhere we want to to go. (If you want to know the science in more detail and delve into quantum physics I’ve put a couple of links at the end of this article).
One of my fascinations with this theory is that this might, in the future, explain and hopefully prove how psychics work, by having the ability to link into this timelessness. But how can we take advantage of this theory now?
OK, no one is suggesting we can hail an Uber into the future anytime soon. Yet can we use this to transform our life and bring us into our power today? Can we play with the concept of timelessness to enhance our life now? Yes!
One of the best ways to give yourself a quick boost to your vibration is to use your psychic skills (yes, we all have them!) to layer up positive feelings from past experiences and project them into the future that you want to create.
So if you want to raise your vibration in the moment, here’s how to do it.
Find somewhere quiet and comfortable, sit down and close your eyes.
Imagine your life as a long road – with the past stretching out one way and the future heading off in another. Where you are standing right now on that road is the present.
Set your psychic intention by asking your mind to draw your attention to all of those times in the past when you felt great – happy, excited, joyful – all those moments when you felt totally on top of the world and that you could do absolutely anything.
Get a sense of where those times are along your life’s road. They might shine out like twinkling stars or just stand out in some other way.
Project yourself back through all of them, soaking up the fabulous feelings and noticing how they change your mood as you go.
When you know you feel great, come back to the present and turn your psychic attention to the future.
Set your intention for a specific point – maybe an upcoming event where you want to be at your very best, or just at a period away from the present which covers a general time span during which you’d like to make some positive changes in your life.
Start to move forward to that point, trusting that deep at a cellular level you are processing all the information you’ll need to take you from the present to the future you want to create.
When you get to that point, rest awhile and look back to see how far you’ve come and to also notice anything interesting that you might want to take conscious note of to bring back to the present.
Return to the present and ground yourself firmly by getting up and moving around, holding on to all of those good feelings that you’ve gathered along your way.
You can repeat this experiment by projecting yourself into a happy future. Look around you when you get there and pay attention to the detail. Write a note of what you see and ask your future self for tips on how to get there from now!
When you first do this particular process, you might enjoy taking a long time to do it, especially when it comes to reliving past happy moments and experiencing the exciting future that you want to create for yourself. But as you get better at it, you can choose to do it fast or slow – this is something that you can train yourself to do in a couple of minutes and it’s the kind of thing that you can do anywhere, without any huge ritual around it. After all, we’re always drifting into the past and the future in our daily imagination, so you might as well use it to your quantum advantage!
Loads of love,

Newsflash – Time does not exist
There is no such thing as time
6 wise women quotes to relight your fire!
When love goes bad – healing your soul.

We may all be products of our past and our past relationships but this does not have to destroy or present and certainly not our future. The feelings we have had for someone in the past – especially if we have been hurt or betrayed, can poison an existing connection or prevent us from forming a new one. An example of this would be if you have been cheated on by a previous partner – or even more than one, you may believe that everyone you meet will do the same. You project the qualities of your old partner onto the new one. This is known as transference by psychologists or creating what you believe if you believe in the law of attraction. Our psychic senses can get confused by past patterns and make us insecure as our wounded soul expects to be let down.
Transference is an insidious and toxic mixture of mistrust and paranoia which can feel real even though it is an illusion. Say your new partner calls you to say they will be late because they are stuck at work. Instead of believing them you begin to look for evidence that they are lying. This can range from reading their text message and emails, subjecting them to interrogation, checking with others to confirm their whereabouts or direct confrontation that you believe they are not telling the truth. This lack of trust then paradoxically brings about the very situation you didn’t want in the first place – they withdraw from the relationship – thus reinforcing your belief once again that nobody can be trusted.
If you believe that transference is behind your inability to form the kind of connection you so desperately want, there are some simple steps you can take to exorcise those ghosts of relationships past which are causing the transference problem in the first place.
1: Turn Back Time: We remain prisoners of our past if we don’t re-frame it and heal the wounds from it. Carve out some serious ‘me’ time and ensure you won’t be disturbed. Write down all your relationships where you experienced mistrust or betrayal starting with the most recent one first. Write down everything you can think of – how you met the person, whether you thought they were trustworthy or not to begin with, when you first thought they might be lying and lastly whether or not your suspicions were correct. Did you love yourself and feel worthy of love? When you have finished with the most recent, move on to the one before that, and the one before that, and so on until you arrive at the first one which set this cycle in motion in the first place. Learn to trust your gut feelings and intuition but from a place of love not fear.
2: Where did it begin? The answer may surprise you. Very often this can be something that happened early in our lives and sometimes it does not even involve a romantic partner. We can carry toxic ghosts of mistrust with us because a parent or someone close to us abused their trust, abandoned us, abused us or let us down. Sometimes we can go far back and discover the issue is not ours at all. At a young age a parent or care-giver transferred their experiences of broken trust on to us and we took it as a given that this is what we could expect from our relationships. As this is our mindset we then go on to attract the same kind of people into our lives – those who may let us down, or we just feel we cannot trust people in general.
3: Take Your Power Back. Sometimes of course it is a romantic partner who started the whole thing. Perhaps they did cheat, were abusive or proved they were untrustworthy in others ways. Now you have arrived at the source of the transference, you can begin to take your power back. Write down everything you have learned from this – and this may include tarring others with the same brush or just being kind enough to yourself to acknowledge that they took advantage of you.
4: Make a List of People You DO Trust: Even if we have betrayed a number of times most of us have certain people in our lives who we trust implicitly. This does not have to be a partner – this can be a family member, a friend, a colleague, a teacher, a professional. What is it over time that has shown you that you can trust this person? Write about all the things that allow you to feel safe with them.
5: Mind the Gap! Now, armed with your list of people you DO trust and your past history of those you have not been able to trust for one reason or another, compare these two. Are there big discrepancies? Did you rush in too quickly with people you ended up not trusting? What kind of behaviours from others help you feel secure?
6: Trust Begins With You: Exorcising transference ghosts ultimately comes down to learning to trust yourself again. When we trust ourselves, we can trust another person. Remind yourself that if people have let you down in the past, you have now learned enough to trust your own judgement in the future. Look to the people you do trust and realise that these relationships are the model for building the kind of trust with a partner you need to ensure relationship success.
7: Trust in the Future: Stopping the toxic transference train also means allowing people time to prove they are trustworthy but once they have proved this, you do not require further proof! When getting to know someone, people usually show you early on if they are trustworthy or not. People who are trustworthy call when they say they will, show up on time or else let you know they are running late. If they have to break a date with you, they give you plenty of notice and will arrange another one quickly. They are open about their lives and back up what they say with the appropriate action. If they build a foundation of this kind of behaviour with you, you have no reason to doubt their trust later on.
You are the product of your past, but you are not the prisoner of it unless you choose to be – and continue taking those ghosts with you. Exorcise them once and for all and step into a future free to trust – yourself and others.
Sending so much love to you on your journey x
Psychic development – your third eye in 3 easy steps

We’ve all heard of our Third Eye or brow chakra and we all understand that it can be a gateway to increased psychic and intuitive perception. For those of us on the soul quest to increase our psychic abilities, opening up the Third Eye can enhance our existing skills – even with reading the Tarot cards and practicing astrology, while giving us increased clairvoyant perception! Very often however, the process for doing this is shrouded in mystery. Most of us experience brief ‘blinks’ of the Third Eye opening – we may suddenly see an aura or else look at someone and know beyond a doubt what the future holds for them – but then this is cut off as quickly as it occurred. However, opening our Third eye for sustained periods is easier than many of us have been led to believe but like all psychic skills, takes practice. However, the process is a simple one and I’ve broken this down into three easy steps.
Step 1: Pick a quiet time when you will not be disturbed. Turn off your phone. Sit upright – this does not have to be on the floor but can be in a chair. Ensure you are comfortable as you don’t want any distractions – and that includes not sitting comfortably! You may also close your curtains or blinds, light a candle or take any steps necessary to create the feeling you are separating yourself off from the day-to-day world. Close your eyes and focus your attention on your breathing – count two for each in-breath and two for each exhalation. Focus your attention purely on this and if other thoughts intrude, thank them but tell them they have no place here at the moment and bring your attention back to your breathing.
Step 2: As you continue to breathe, notice what images begin to appear behind your closed eyes. This is your ‘Minds eye’ or Third Eye now beginning to work. Very often this begins to manifest as a glow – often silver or blue. Or you may feel you can ‘see’ the room, a person or an object which also may be glowing. Occasionally or after you have been practicing for a while, the light may appear as a circle or ‘tunnel’ of light. People always report that this circle or tunnel isn’t dazzling or frightening in any way but gentle and inviting. You may enter it if it appears or move towards it. Very often images or people will appear from it and these contain valuable psychic information for you.
Step 3: When you are ready, open your eyes. You may now look at your surroundings with a different quality of perception than before. Colours may seem more vibrant or you just may pick up vibrations from people and objects that you were not aware of before. As with any psychic exercise, when you open your eyes, ensure you have your journal to hand to record any details or perceptions while they are still fresh in your mind.
That’s it! Continue to practice this but as you progress you will soon discover that you do not need to enter the meditative state to ‘open’ your Third Eye in everyday situations or when doing psychic or Tarot readings either for yourself or for others. You will be able to open it and call open your insight in day-to-day situations too. Plus, once open it’s like any conduit – it will rely information to you whether you are consciously asking for it or not!
Opening your Third Eye is easy – and can be the most powerful psychic tool you possess.

They contain the future of your soul path.

Others may celebrate the holiday at home – but spooky fun and games are right up your street.

Dare you to resist it!
Virgo
With you still the sign with the mostest it’s hard to imagine it’s not all treats for you this Halloween as Mars, Venus and Jupiter just want you to have fun – perhaps more than you’ve had in a very long time. Right now if you do ask, you’re most likely be given the answer you seek. Your guides are waiting for that call!

This is your Phoenix Halloween where you can literally burn free from the past and emerge as someone new. Share your experiences as you can help others by doing so.

Let’s face it – if ever there was a holiday designed specifically for you in mind it’s Halloween. With the Sun in your sign making a truly wonderful angle to the Moon in your 9th, you totally own this one. You’re both the light and the dark of it, so why not showcase that? Who else is better at integrating than you? You know everything has its place and you embrace the dark as well as the light as both are necessary. This Halloween offers adventure and the chance to show all your facets to the world.
Sagittarius
This Halloween is about to show you that you have your dreams for a reason and they may not be just castles in the air but something about to be brought into reality. What others may see as barriers you are able to transcend and just see as things which are designed to prove just how much you are capable of – which may be even more than anything you’ve previously imagined.
Capricorn
Are you ready for a shift? Ruler Saturn in your 12th is angling across to Neptune in your 3rd and beaming in some important insights straight from the galactic source/spirit world/other side – or whatever you want to call it. You’re linked to a higher level of consciousness which may have been speaking to you for some time. But now you understand the validity of what it is saying and the new way of seeing things it is bringing in.
Aquarius
I’ve you’ve done the work you could be in for a pleasant surprise this Halloween as something you thought dead and buried comes alive again and by that I don’t mean a zombie! You may have put in the effort and then had to let things go. Ruler Uranus could now re-deliver it – out of the crypt and out of the blue!
Pisces
Gorgeous romantic aspects sprinkle this Halloween not with gravedust but with star dust instead. Your perfect zombie is ready for that monster mash-up with you. Love rocks the crypt – and this world and the next. If you’re waiting for love to arrive – speak to your ancestors or guides. Chances are you will get a message back.
Discover what 2016 has in store with our numerology special

To celebrate rapidly approaching 2016, I’ve got something special for you. A very different Numerology forecast which not only gives you the mini themes you’re looking at for the coming year, but is incredibly simple and calculated by your star sign and birthday rather than just life path numbers. Because of this, it gives you a much more accurate idea of what’s in store for you for 2016. Are you ready to delve deeper into the power of numbers in your life? Then let’s begin.
How to Calculate Your Numberscope Number for 2016
First, we need to calculate the Universal number for the year. 2016 – 2+0+1+6 = 9
Second, add your birthday – let’s say you were born on the 24th – 2 + 4 = 6
Lastly – here comes the secret power part that sets this apart from other numerology systems – you need your astrology sign number and it may not be what you think it is! Trust me on this one – this works. Find your star sign number here:
Aries: 9
Taurus: 6
Gemini: 5
Cancer: 2
Leo: 1
Virgo: 5
Libra: 6
Scorpio: 0
Sagittarius: 3
Capricorn: 8
Aquarius: 4
Pisces: 7
So, let’s say you were born on the 24th September. Your star sign is Virgo. So you would add 9 + 6 + 5 = 20. You then reduce the 20 down to a single number 2 + 0 = 2. You are in a 2 numberscope cycle for 2016.
If you were born on the 3rd November and are a Scorpio you would add 9 + 3 + 0 = 12. 1 + 2 = 3. Your numberscope power number for 2016 is a 3.
Once you know where you are in your power cycle – read your forecast below and welcome in 2016 from a place of increased self-empowerment and opportunity!
Numberscope Year 1:
It’s a year for fresh starts, new beginnings and fabulous opportunities. Put the past behind you and re-invent yourself if necessary. Look to the future and where you want to go and initiate those plans for getting there. You radiate creative energy this year and that goes hand-in-hand with sex appeal! New people will enter your life and one of these could be a hot love interest if you’re starting this year single. Fresh starts for you could also include a new job or house move. You could find yourself on a financial roll but gains actually come from an inner change you’ve been working through the previous year. Now you see the pay-off! You may find s yourself in the limelight for something you have achieved or with someone else so be ready, Travel to new places and involvement with child – or perhaps re-connecting to your inner child, will also feature. It’s time to take that first step on a new journey but also not to take life too seriously. Your confidence will increase or be restored if you have suffered a blow to it and you’re now open to take some risks and stretch yourself, again. Set yourself a goal, take pride in yourself and your appearance, radiate confidence and take that first step towards it. Above all, leave the past where it belongs – behind you.
Numberscope Year 2:
The past 12 months may have been busy and seen a few changes take place but this year is all about relaxing. As it’s a ‘2’ cycle for you, it’s all about partnerships and teamwork. The connections you formed last year now deepen and begin to take root. Commitments can be made. If you still have no-one special in your life, make more of an effort to find them as they are out there! If however you now find you have outgrown some relationships, it is kinder to let them go rather than continue. The people who are in your life now are likely to be there for a long time and so it’s important for you to know you still share the same resonance. If your partnership is unequal on any level you need to initiate steps to sort that out, one way or another. If you leave it you will have to live with the consequences on your inaction for a long time to come! Your home, your domestic life and your family will be a priority and if you did not move last year, think about your lifestyle. Are you happy with it or can it be improved? If you are happy, then see what you can do to further enhance it. If not, don’t just talk about moving, seek out something better. This is an excellent year to put down roots for the future. New financial opportunities or increased money could appear and if they do, save don’t spend. Get your finances in order as this year sets the tone for many years to follow.
Numberscope Year 3:
Plan for something special, broaden your horizons, do something with those ideas and work on your self-confidence. Your world is about to expand and you will meet many people this year and you need to ensure that you are seen in the best possible light so take pride in yourself, your appearance and your talents. It’s not a year for false-modesty but a year to strut your stuff. By the end of this cycle you will see a few of your goals and wishes manifest. People you may not have seen or heard from in a while may re-enter your life and this includes former lovers. The choice is yours whether or not you take up the relationship again. It is not just a year for hot love but sizzling hot bedroom action! Travel beckons and this may be long distance or for longer periods of time than usual. It’s time to launch that idea or business or to go for that dream job. Up until September, you will be on a roll and you should be able to not just set but overwhelm those goals – the wheel of fortune just seem to be naturally turning in your favour now and luck is on your side. However, there is an energy shift from October with the last three months of the year asking you to now consolidate your achievements. You may feel the confidence and expansion vibe that’s got you this far start to wane. This is also part of the cycle so pay attention to it. Reduce your expenditure at this point and realise that even adventures must eventually come to an end.
Numberscope Year 4:
After the past there years of expansion and free wheeling fun, this year comes as a bit of a shock. Whereas before you have been able to drive your life in the direction of your desires, you may be faced with the feeling that things are just totally out of your control! Life becomes unpredictable and fate seems to have taken a hand and has its own agenda – and all you can do is try to hang on! You will be put in a position where a few major decisions have to be made and these may or may not be of your doing. Interesting people may cross you path from very different social backgrounds or professions to you and you will benefit from these nee connections. This is not a year to plan in the long term but to take things on a day to day or week by week basis. You bank account may also fluctuate which is one of the reasons why for Year 3 I advise you to cut down on expenditure in the last three months of the cycle. When it comes to your career – you will now know whether you are on the right path or not. If you are, stay there. If you realise you’re not then nothing and no-one is going to keep you there but because this is a year where money matters can be an issue, it may be a good idea to remain in there for now and make your move in the next cycle. When it comes to love, someone very different can make this an exciting time for you although it remains to be seen if this will last. Others may find this a period where love does not run smoothly and becomes unpredictable too! To get this best of out this year be practical, organised and logical and you will be able to navigate it successfully. Although this year brings some strange twists and turns, fate is at work and when you look back on it you may well conclude this was one of the best years ever!
Numberscope Year 5
After the rollercoaster events last year, this year will bring an important turning point for you. Your everyday environment or job will change for the better and you may feel you are back in control of where you want your life to go! If this cycle starts off with some challenges for you, please don’t panic as it will end on a high note. Put your ideas into action this year – especially if you held off last year. It’s time to start s course of study if that has been on your mind or to hone your communication skills. Writing, publishing and communicating feature and can offer outlets for success but if you are starting something, try to opt for something that can be completed within this 12 month period. If you experienced financial difficulties last year, they can now be resolved in your favour and you can find yourself back in the black. You may be presented with some new money making opportunities you have not tried in the past and if so, please just give them a go as you have nothing to lose. This year may also bring a turning point in your love life especially if it was unsettled last year or you have ended up alone. You could meet someone that offers you the kind of mental stimulation you’re seeking. If you are in a relationship, try not to take lover’s tiffs or disagreements to heart. Provided you do not over-react or fall into the trap of recriminations, any disagreements should not last long provided you are prepared to open up and share what you are really feeling with your partner. T’s a year of flexibility and being prepared to do and think differently. If you manage this then this year will reward you by bringing you something new every week!
Numberscope Year 6
Build the foundations of love this year. The past two years may have seen you scrambling to keep up but this year allows you to sit back and enjoy the finer things of life and to establish something for your long term future. Yes, that includes romance. This is an excellent time for partnerships and Cupid may be firing off those arrows in all directions – not just in your own life but in the lives of those you know. Your creative talents are going to demand expression now – remember creating something is an act of love – and self-love as it honours your gifts so express this in whatever way you can. This is an excellent year for real estate decisions – buying or leasing and if you move you should be unpacking for a long stay. Also, this year tends to deliver a home where you get more for your money than you thought you would – and this applies to renters as well as buyers. This year wants to reward you for how you have coped with the previous two. Money matters should flourish and if you end this cycle in the black you should stay there for some time. Decisions can be made now and please think them through carefully as you will be living with them for some time to come but this is a wonderful year to commit to a relationship or find that forever kind of love. More than any other year, what this year delivers really is determined by our inner attitude. Some people unfold like a rose in bloom as they radiate love – even if it’s only via what they love to do. But others don’t seem to pick roses but only thorns and blame others for when the year does not deliver as promised. If this is you, then you have some serious thinking to do. Your next cycle is sending you into deep waters. Be ready.
Numberscope Year 7
I hope you established something for yourself last year as if you failed to do this, you may have nothing soul-sustaining to fall back on as this can be a testing year for some. This is a deeply spiritual, intuitive and empathic year where deep soul wounds can surface and be healed, when we may have to ask for help – or give it to others who ask for it, and we come face to face with the deep side if life and life’s big questions. This is not a material kind of year and if gains are made they are likely to come from a loss on some level – a legacy, payout, compensation, benefit, maintenance payment, redundancy. However, this year can bring other rewards such as new insights, enhanced psychic gifts, healing and inspired creative ideas. This is a great year to undertake any studies into the occult, psychic development, healing or alternative medicine. You may come into contact with places of healing – either you need them or you know someone else who does – doctors, counsellors, health practitioners, hospitals, hospices and even prisons may feature. You may also need the services of a health professional. If you need help during this time – please do not hesitate to ask for it. This can be a year of spiritual testing and as with anything spiritual, this can take it out on our mental and physical wellbeing too! If you ask for answers to your questions at this time you WILL be given them however. If you ended last year with no-one to call your own or nothing of substance to fall back on, this may prove to be a challenging year but don’t be ashamed to reach out as this shows you are ready to accept changing your circumstances. A word of warning for singles. This year often sees anyone experiencing spending a lot of time alone. Please do not go looking for love in all the wrong places in an attempt to rectify this. You are likely to attract someone who is not what they first appear to be, or they may have addiction and/or mental issues and are likely to drag you into their drama on top of that! If you are coupled up this is a year for peak experiences that transcend mere sex. This year offers a journey of spiritual and self-discovery and you will emerge with a better understanding of who you are – and what you truly need to be happy.
Numberscope Year 8
You are entering a year of karma and balance. If you are due any rewards – this is the year they will manifest and much of this can be tied to how you handled the past 12 months. Look back six years and see what you did or did not do then. The events of this year were generated by your decisions (or lack of decisions) back then. This year offers you the gift of freeing yourself from the past once and for all. If you can do this the future is yours to fashion in whatever way you will. If you have not been living up to your potential you will now realise this and take steps to rectify it. The people you meet this year are part of your destiny and have a role to play in how your path is unfolding. However, if people from your past reappear they may represent a trap so think carefully before any re-involvement. If doors are opening it is because you have learned the right lessons and applied them, but if they remain closed no matter how hard you knock, then this may be a sign you have hesitated to live your full potential by either worrying about what people will think of you or else negative self-talk. You can however now take steps to eliminate this kind of thinking and set a new course for yourself. An important new friendship can be made and this person may be more successful or experienced than you and there may be an age difference between you. Remember, age is in the mind. This may be someone who helps you in your career and/or someone with whom a romantic interest develops but the relationship has its own schedule and you will just have to wait and see. This year could see you the happiest person in the world because you have found ‘the one’ or else see your hopes dashed when a relationship does not work out the way you hoped. If it’s the latter please understand that this is nothing you have done but that the soul contract has been lived out. You will see you career goals either realised or dashed this year. Again, re-read what I said about your thinking if your progress is blocked. This is a year to accept responsibility for your actions and your thoughts and also to remember it is never too late to change your thinking!
Numberscope Year 9
You are now at the end of a cycle so see this time as one of tying up loose ends and preparing for a new era to begin next year. This is not a time to begin anything new. You can plan for it yes, but wait to act on plans until after the end of September when the energy of the new cycle will begin to make itself felt. All connections are going to be tested now and some will survive but others won’t. If you have to say good-bye to some people please remain as universal as possible in your thinking. This is not a time for anger – even if you feel that, but of understanding that some things have now been lived out. Therefore this is not a good time to begin a love affair as it is unlikely to last past the year. If a past lover returns during this cycle they usually come back in and then exit never to return. Up until the end of June make personal changes – look to your image and make adjustments and make similar ones to your thoughts. Complete outstanding projects and pay off debts if you can. From July onwards make changes in other areas – such as moving house or alter your lifestyle to take up new interests and bring new people into your life. The final three months you can begin to push forward with those business and/or career plans you’ve been mulling over. This is a good time for travel as it will help you expand and transform your thinking. Have you been neglecting your sexual self? While this may not be a good cycle to start anything serious, this is a period where your sexual self surfaces and demands you recognise your needs. This may not be about acting on this, but understanding yourself better in order to either communicate this with your partner if you have one, or to know what you are seeking when your new cycle opens up. As the year draws to a close you will see the promise of Year 1 beginning to manifest. You’re heading into a fresh future. Don’t burden yourself with anything that no longer works for you.

Have you been ghosted? The 7 deadly break up sins.

Nobody likes to have the ‘It’s Over’ conversation no matter which side of it they are on. Which is why we’ve been hearing about a new way to not say ‘It’s over’ recently which is ‘ghosting’ when Charlize Theron recently ‘ghosted’ Sean Penn. This involves “the act of suddenly ceasing all communication with someone the subject is dating, but no longer wishes to date” according to urbandictionary.com. Phone calls, emails, and texts are no longer returned and digital traces of the relationship on line are erased without any explanation.
Relationship psychologists don’t just study how relationships begin and are maintained – they also study how they end which usually tells them a lot about the ex-couple in question. In the case of ‘ghosting’ or suddenly finding the person you’re dating has changed their Facebook status back to ‘single’ without the courtesy of telling you that you are dumped – researchers point to those with an avoidance attachment personality as the most likely to resort to this (see my article on Frozen Love here on MK for more insight into this!). However, studies have shown that break-ups basically fall into seven categories – the Seven Deadly Break-Up Sins if you like.
1: Non-Blaming and Positive: ‘It’s not you, it’s me’ or avoids placing blame on the other party.
2: Open confrontation: ‘I want to break up’
3: Escalation: Picking an argument so you can use it as an excuse to break up
4: Distancing or mediated communication: Facebook status = Single. You hear you’ve been dumped from someone else
5: De-escalation: Waiting until after their birthday or Christmas and that gift to break up
6: Manipulation: Hinting to third parties it’s not working so it gets back to you so they can cast you as the bad guy
7: Withdrawal: Ghosting or sudden cessation of communication with no explanation offered
Ghosting not just comes under Withdrawal but also Distancing. But whichever way you look at it, it’s not nice. Sure, nobody likes telling someone it’s over but after three dates they should be entitled to a face-to-face explanation and one date should at elast warrant a ‘Thank you, I enjoyed meeting you, but won’t be taking this further’ text or email.
Out of all the 7 Deadly Break Up Sins, researchers discovered that No.1 – non-blaming and positive, was the one associated with the highest likelihood of getting back together again or at least remaining friends. Open confrontation as it ‘I want to leave/break-up’ was associated with the least anger towards the former partner while ghosting and withdrawal the most, with those who had been dumped this way the least likely to consider a reconciliation even if one were offered.
There can be many reasons why we may no longer want to continue with a relationship. And obviously in the case of an abusive or toxic relationship, then a sudden and complete severing of contact may be necessary for someone’s safety. How someone says it’s over, or you say it to them, shows your level of emotional maturity and also your empathy and depth of compassion. As in any situation, coming from a place of non-judgement and non-blame as well as getting straight to the point, seems to be the way to exit a soul contract with the least long term hurt. You may no longer be a couple – but don’t be a ghost!
