Mali is a 40-year-old elephant from Sri Lanka who made international news when Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) launched a campaign to transfer her from her sorry quarters at the Manila Zoo to an elephant sanctuary in Thailand. Rising over the mountains like Godzilla the mythical sun and three stars that form the main elements in our flag can be seen on the canopy of the iconic Balcony built on the front windows of Emilio Aguinaldo's home in Kawit , Cavite that marks the spot where the Declaration of Independence from Spain was read on June 12, 1898. I had to lie on the floor to take this photo so please share.

To prepare for my June 28 Lecture at the Ayala Museum I revisited the original Rizal manuscripts now preserved in the National Library. Please share.

Before Manuel Luis Quezon issued the regulations that standardized the Philippine flag to the form we know today, the sun had a face, and sometimes had more than eight rays. This wonderful prewar flag in silk is displayed in the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit. Please share.

If you read the transcript of the Bonifacio Trial to the end, you will be left asking: What happened? Better still: What really happened?
