Happy Birthday Lolo Jose!
We used to own a bust of Jose Rizal by National Artist Guillermo Tolentino that is now in the Rizal Library of the Ateneo. Rizal was part of our family, he wore a Santa hat during Christmas, and dark shades in the summer. Some people found this sacrilegious but that was our way of showing our affection for "Lolo Jose" as we were taught to call him by his grand niece Asuncion Lopez Bantug. Neal Oshima took this photo of Lolo Jose and my sister a quarter of a century ago.
