How Man Flow Yoga Proves It’s Okay For Guys To Do Yoga (Member Highlight: Patrick Cobb)

If you’re anything like Man Flow Yoga Member, Patrick Cobb, you’ve probably believed the widespread stereotype that yoga is for women, not for men. And each time you walked into a public yoga class, this stereotype was reinforced into your mind:

Public yoga classes are dominated by women. If you’ve ever tried one, there’s a high chance you were the only man in the class. And, to be frank, public yoga classes can be humiliating for men. We’re not as flexible as women. Most yoga poses in public classes are designed for women, which increases your chances of injuring yourself. Not to mention, the spiritual lingo used in public yoga classes can turn you away from the scientific benefits of yoga.

That's how 58-year-old Patrick Cobb felt before trying Man Flow Yoga. And now, Patrick, along with every other Member of Man Flow Yoga, proves it’s okay for guys to do yoga.

How To Make Eating Healthy Easier | Dean Pohlman | Better Man Podcast Ep. 030

Too many people who struggle to eat healthy make a couple of fatal mistakes:

They either overcomplicate eating healthy. Or they think of their eating habits as a "diet." And many people commit both mistakes.

Here’s the truth:

Eating healthy isn’t as hard as you think. In fact, burgers, tacos, and pasta are staples in my recipe book (even though most health “experts” will say they’re unhealthy).

Building Muscle After 40 With Yoga | Why Yoga is a Better Option

Staying in shape is challenging in middle age. Long gone is the white-hot metabolism of young adulthood that burns off the worst diets with little effort. Muscle mass in men begins to decline as early as your thirties but picks up steam at age 40, where you’re likely to lose a pound of lean mass a year if you don’t engage in physical activity. If we’re lucky enough to reach 65, that’s more than 25 pounds of lean mass that have disappeared.

To reverse this trend, many men head to the weight room and start pumping iron, figuring that’s the quickest and most efficient way to maintain that lean mass and even add to it. Yoga is a better option.

Why Are Testosterone Levels Declining? (& What Should We Do About It) | Blake Bowman | Better Man Podcast Ep. 029

In this episode, I’m talking to Blake Bowman, a postural alignment and corrective exercise coach who’s been in this industry for over a decade. During that period, he learned that health and performance is a chess board consisting of many critical moving pieces.

Blake has been a guinea pig almost his entire life. After suffering a grueling injury, he couldn’t find help to get his body repaired. He could lift 500 pounds on a deadlift at one point but couldn’t go on a hike. So, he took matters into his own hands and learned how to fix himself. Today, he’s stronger, has better posture, and is healthier than ever.

Making Fitness-Focused Yoga For Men | Dean Pohlman | Better Man Podcast Ep. 026

We recently launched new ads for Man Flow Yoga’s Strength Foundations Challenge, and the “yoga trolls” have come out in full force. They question why we’re gendering yoga, why we’re taking out the spirituatialy, and claim Man Flow Yoga is not real yoga.

Here’s the truth:

Man Flow Yoga is not “real” yoga in the traditional sense. But that’s a good thing. Not all men want to use yoga to improve their spirituality. In fact, most men want a gentle workout that can help their gym gains, prevent injuries, and make them feel their best each day.

How Yoga Unlocks Radical Self-Acceptance | Benjamin Sears | Better Man Podcast Ep. 025

Many men stumble into yoga after a debilitating injury prevents them from training. This is how both Benjamin Sears and I discovered yoga. But even though this may be the cause of starting yoga, the reason you stay could be completely different.

Some men use it as a way to enhance their strength training and prevent injuries. Others use it to develop more flexibility and keep joint pain at bay. And some men find the tough workouts give them a way to develop radical self-awareness and self-acceptance.

Today’s guest, yoga instructor and founder of LuxYoga, Benjamin Sears, uses yoga to accomplish all three goals. Not only has yoga helped him improve his physical health, but it’s also made him a kinder person — to himself and to others.
