Yoga for Sciatica | 9 Must Do Yoga Poses for Sciatic Nerve Pain Relief

Sciatica pain is caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve. Weakness in your core and glutes can contribute to improper body mechanics and alignment, affecting your entire body. These imbalances make you more susceptible to injury, including lumbar disc herniations that produce sciatica pain. Two people in the same automobile accident, for instance, could suffer (or not suffer) different injuries depending on their core strength. The person with a strong core and good alignment could walk away unscathed, while someone with a weak core and poor alignment could endure the type of lumbar disc herniations that produce sciatica pain.

Because sciatica pain isn’t only the result of tightness and weakness in the lower back and legs, it’s vital to incorporate an effective strength-based yoga routine that uses targeted strengthening exercises, stretches, and mobility work to help alleviate and fix the causes of sciatica pain.

How Man Flow Yoga Makes Consistent Exercise A Breeze – Even if you’re in your 60s and have worked out your whole life (Member Highlight: Dennis K.)

Dennis K., a 63-year-old Man Flow Yoga Member, has dabbled in yoga for most of his life. He’s no stranger to frequenting yoga classes. Thanks to his YMCA membership, he’s even taken dozens of Bikram and hot yoga classes.

He quickly fell in love with Dean’s approach by watching YouTube videos, and shortly signed up for a Man Flow Yoga membership.

Not only does he finally get to practice yoga how he wants to—where the physical aspects come first—but joining Man Flow Yoga has also helped him be more consistent with every other workout he does.

Join Man Flow Yoga For The Non-Spiritual Aspect… Stay For The Strength & Flexibility (Member Highlight: Chad V)

Chad, Man Flow Yoga Member since December 2019, originally joined Man Flow Yoga to complement his other workouts. In addition to yoga, Chad also does strength training 3x a week, swims 1,000 meters twice a week, and attends a spin class twice a week.

Like many other men unfamiliar with Man Flow Yoga, Chad heard about many of the benefits of yoga, but the spiritual component that usually comes equipped with yoga turned him off. He just wanted an effective way to build his strength and flexibility, not connect with the Supreme Consciousness.

Only when he started researching non-spiritual yoga classes did he find Man Flow Yoga, and knew he had to give it a try.

Man Flow Yoga Helps Anthony Go From Wearing An XXL To A Medium (Member Highlight: Anthony O’Leary)

Man Flow Yoga Member, Anthony O’Leary, like many other Members discovered Man Flow Yoga on complete accident. At the time, Anthony was pushing 300 lbs. Other workout modalities, like P90X for example, weren’t working for Anthony. And after losing his job at the beginning of the pandemic, he remembered thinking to himself:

"Either I’m gonna sit on a couch and eat my way to 400 lbs, or I could do something about it."

That one decision changed the rest of his life. Not sure what to do, he began searching YouTube for “yoga for men,” discovered Dean and Man Flow Yoga, and began what’s blossomed into an incredible weight loss and fitness journey. Before Man Flow Yoga, Mike Hensley Had Trouble Tying His Shoes, Now He’s As Flexible As A Cheerleader (Member Highlight: Mike Hensley)

Mike Hensley recently celebrated his 40th birthday, and his one-year Man Flow Yoga anniversary. Before Man Flow Yoga, Mike felt much older than his age. Even though he wasn’t even in his 40s yet, he felt like an old man. 

He dreaded bending over. Tying his shoes made him feel like he was going to pass out. Reaching for the bottom shelves at grocery stores was an impossible task. He avoided the gym, in large part, because he feared he wouldn’t be able to lift dumbbells off of the ground. Needless to say, Mike’s inability to bend over took a toll on his well being. 

Well, that started to change when he joined Man Flow Yoga.
