Carla welcomes Miranda Neville

From Carla: Just back from Ireland. What an amazing trip! While I dig out and get over jet lag, I'd like to welcome Miranda Neville to Running with Quills. Please say hi and feel free to ask her any questions. I'll see you back here in two weeks!
The second book in Miranda's Burgundy Club series, The Dangerous Viscount, releases September 28th. Miranda will be giving away a copy of the first book, THE WILD MARQUIS, to one commenter. Please include your email address. The winners will be...

Stella Welcomes Kathryn Shay!

I'm so happy to bring Kathryn Shay to the Quills and their friends. THE PERFECT FAMILY is a very special book--an important book. We all deal with diversity or adversity--or both--in our lives. Kathryn has written a story which, in addition to entertaining all of us, will help some of us.

Fondly,
Stella

[image error]Thanks so much to Stella Cameron for allowing me to blog in her place on your site in order to tell you about my new book, THE PERFECT FAMILY.

First, let me introduce myself. I'm Kathryn Shay...

Sometimes Ya Just Gotta Run Away...

Do you ever wake up in the morning with the absolute certainty that you really, REALLY need to just get away? Happened to me this week. I was planning to give myself two days without Internet--no email, no writing, nothing--so I could clear my head and finally get a good start on the book that's due in a little over six weeks. I know the story, but for some reason I just couldn't come up with a good opening, and the frustration was making me nuts.
When I told my husband what I was doing, he...

Susan Answers more questions

Hey, all. I'm back with two things: the rest of the reader questions I didn't answer before and a little promo. Let's do the latter one first and get it out of the way *G*.

I've joined the ranks of authors with a Facebook fan page. I kinda screwed up by not naming it a fan page but here is th [image error] e url and I'd love it if you'd join me there occasionally. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Susan-Andersen/143285819043638?ref=ts. This is the author pic I used on it in case y'all go looking for it and come ...

JAYNE WELCOMES PAULA GRAVES

I'm delighted to welcome Paula Graves back to RWQ! This month she has two new books out in her Cooper Justice series. If you love your romance spiked with strong suspense, you really need to meet Paula. Please give her a warm RWQ welcome.

Nerd Power!

When I was in high school, I was pretty much the definition of a nerd. I was pudgy, studious, shy and a member of the marching band. All my crushes were socially inappropriate--football or basketball stars who only...

Truths for Mature Humans :-)

Photobucket

Happy Friday everyone!
I am so disheartened that we're running out of summer. Boo hiss. Already the leaves are falling and turning colors. At the RV Park where I like to hide out, they've closed the pool and the evenings are so cool that we can leave the windows open at night.
The other day I was in the store and not only did they have out Halloween decorations, but Christmas stuff too!
Now, if we could have fall-like weather right up till... say, the week of Christmas, and then winter would...

Carla's in in Ireland!

I'm typing this at a grocery store in Kenmare, Co. Kerry, Ireland, on a beautiful early evening, after a day of writing and walking the hills above Kenmare Bay. As some of you may remember, I scooted off to Ireland last September on my own. I'm here again. It was a bit of a crazy year and it felt right to return. Plus I just love it. I'm staying in a little cottage with a view of the bay...I've gotten used to the electric shower (I don't know if that's what they're called but it has its own h...

I'm not giving up this bone.....

Happy Holiday Monday Morning, My Flowers:)
You asked questions, I'm going to push through the questions—and like it. In fact I do like to see what interests you and try to give a sensible answer or two. I wish I had a mentor when I started writing, someone I could have asked all those questions that sound silly when you think of them but are really important to the process of learning.Catherine asked: "When you read, what do you read for fun, for education" Anything you read again?"span

What a week!

This is obviously a BIG week for the Quills--new books out from a bunch of us, and I'm no exception--HellFire, the second book in my DemonSlayers series, hit the stands on Tuesday, and Nocturnal (with Jacquelyn Frank--my story, Crystal Dreams, is part of my DemonSlayers series) comes out NEXT Tuesday, so I've been hitting the blogosphere with guest blogs all over the place, answering gazillions (well, not really, but it sure feels like it!) of emails and chatting on Facebook and tweeting...

It's heeeeere!

Burning Up hit the shelves yesterday. I knew it was coming; it seemed to take forever in coming. Yet it snuck up on me anyhow. My Sweet Baby Boy and I had made plans for the day. He needed to drop off his car to be serviced and had asked me to follow him up north, then we were going to REI to scope out the backpacks. We planned to take a walk from there and ultimately go to lunch.

But who says this kid can't multitask? Christopher (the aforementioned SBB) knew a back route from...
