MY STYLE: Red and Black
Only one outfit last week and it was a busy day. The rest of the week was busy too but you don’t need to see what I wear around the house.
OUTFIT – RUNNING TO THE SHOPS AND CHIRO
BLOUSE: Target from 2014 bought for $40. I don’t normally spend so much on a top, waiting until it’s on sale, but I bought this when I found it. Now I’m not so sure about it. It looks big on and doesn’t really do anything for me.
TANK: Simple red tank from Kmart for $4
JEANS: Usual Kmart blue ones
SHOES: Boots I bought off mum a few years back.
JEWELLERY: Jewel Divas bracelet stack (right arm) and long necklace. The other necklace, earrings and rings are from Lovisa, the hand bangle from eBay.

HEALTH & BEAUTY STYLE: How long do your beauty products last?
For years it always annoyed me, when on current affair shows they would help struggling people with their budgets and divide it into weekly/fortnightly and ALWAYS put beauty products in the budget.
I for one DO NOT buy my beauty products every week or fortnight and have no need to, so that got me to thinking, how long do my beauty products actually last for.
So, I devised a plan. A simple plan. So simple all it required was writing down the date I started a product on the container itself, and I always try to start a product on the first of a month so it’s easier to count the days.
And what did I find?
That it always took months to use a product.
So, how do “budget and financial planners” come up with the need to buy beauty products every week?
God knows, but because Olay discontinued the line I was using I had to find another brand that I could switch to, and that brand ended up being Nivea. Back in February I bought the Nivea haul below. Everything was already half price, and I used some fly buys points and got an extra $10 off. Score!
I still have many of the products above. The body moisturiser lasted from March 1 to sometime in May. I’m still using the deodorants, lip glosses, and am on my last bottle of toner. I’m onto the last face wash and because I was only using one face cream at a time, I’ve used the morning and am now on the nighttime. I’ve had to buy more make up wipes, but that’s it. Everything else is still being used.
That’s March until September, quite some time. Now, how does one need to buy these products every week? As long as you stock up when they’re on sale, especially at 50% off, you won’t need to buy them for six months to a year at least, depending on the product.
Make up is the same. I only go out once or twice a week and put on a full face. Yet it still takes me months to go through a product. I’ve got lipsticks that I bought years ago, same with eye shadows and liners.
Toothpaste takes me about 2 months to use, and I change my brush on the first of every month. Sunscreen last me a few years and I did buy a new one in the haul above.
I really don’t understand how or why women need to buy stuff every week or fortnight. And I really don’t understand why budget planners put it in the budget when helping people. Cut it out and skim their budget down even more. They don’t need the stuff the planners put in.
When was the last time you guys bought beauty products and how long does it last you?

MY STYLE: Cool Green and White
Only out once again last week, but then it was busy in other ways. I debuted the paperback version of #teenblogger and released the #teenblogger blogging tips, which you can see here on the #teenblogger book page, or pin them from their Pinterest board, so I didn’t go out until Friday.
OUTFIT
TOP: Millers two piece (with the white cami underneath), from 2013 for $8 on sale.
JEANS: Usual Kmart $7
BOOTS: You can’t see them because they’re navy, but I’ve got my Naturalizer boots on. You can see the blog post here
JEWELLERY: A mixed bunch from Lovisa (necklace, cuffs and I made the earrings from two necklaces), plus the ring on my right forefinger. The other two rings are from eBay.

MY STYLE: Pink Studded Skulls
I only went out once this week and what a day it was. Shopping, home, lunch, back up the shop to go to the chiro then a bit more shopping, then home to hammer nails into my bookshelf to keep it together.
Unfortunately, something bad also happened, more on that below.
OUTFIT
TOP: Ice from 2013, $15
SHIRT: from the 90s, found this in an op shop for $6
VEST: From a store called Lucy in the 90s. They made the clothes in the factory out the back and sold it in the store in front. The clothes were good and brand new. I think it was $6.
JEANS: Kmart as usual
BOOTS: Op shop from 2014, $49.25
JEWELLERY: Jewel Divas skulls. I made the necklace, earrings and bought and matched the rest. The earrings didn’t last for long…see below.
Turns outs, the earrings didn’t even make it out the yard. I was opening the double gate to leave and when I bent over the earring back came unstuck and the earring fell and smashed. I don’t know if it can be fixed. I’d had the hoops for about 20 years and they had been sitting in my craft box for about 10. So clearly the glue had aged. I hate it when shit like this happens.

MY OBSESSION: Nancy Drew updated covers
Back in 2014 I posted about the first four recreated Nancy Drews and how I had just gotten around to getting them due to the lack of book stores in my town. Now Grosset & Dunlap have produced the second lot, albeit I’m posting this a long time after they came out, but I only got them this year and am now just getting around to posting about them.
The box set of the first four has also been released in a nice box, decorated just like the covers.
I like the covers of Red Gate and Letter best, as they are done in shades of pinky purple and blue.
I also caught up on the new series that debuted last year, Nancy Drew Clue Book. This series replaces The Clue Crew books which replaced the Notebooks series. Same stories, different packaging. They seem to be regurgitating the same ones and tweaking them. Boring! The first four and the box set are below.
While I’m glad Nancy Books only come out three times a year for each series, the books have gotten boring. The kids books are just replayed over and over, and the current Diaries series is just the regurgitated Girl Detective books which were an updated original series. As much as I love my Nancy and will continue buying, I’m getting over the obsession I once had. Now it’s more of a collection that will continue than an obsession.
I’ll still track down collectables and books I don’t have, but so many other things have taken my interest, and between writing and the cost that incurs, and buying kaftans and $200 boots, the money is wearing thin, as well as having the currency conversion to deal with, as well as sellers on ebay wacking ridiculously high shipping rates on postage to Australia. $30 for a book, nuh-uh, don’t think so. So my buying rate has gone down even though it will slowly continue.
Do you guys have an obsession or collection which you have slowed down on buying?
