ACCESSORY STYLE: Django & Juliette Floral Heels

Recently I showed you the new bags I have bought this year, as this year was the year of bags and shoes. Well, now I’m onto my third pair of shoes for the year.

jds-dj-blue-floral-heels1

Meet Nicky from Django & Juliette, still available from Styletread where I bought them from.

Now I first found Django & Juliette shoes last year when I bought four pairs from Cinori. The problem with this brand, is that while the sandals fit me, the enclosed shoes do not. They are too narrow, otherwise I would have bought a whole truckload by now because they have great shoes.

jds-dj-blue-floral-heels2

Now I don’t normally buy heels, but I did want some height. I have 5 inch heels on cowboy boots and wanted some summer shoes with a bit of oomph. So after seeing these I bought them and tried them and kept them. They are fairly comfortable, but then I have at least 5 or 6 different issues with any shoe, and the heel will need to be changed so it’s not slippery, and I’ll need gel insoles so walking isn’t so wearing and tearing.

Now one thing I didn’t realise when I bought them, besides going with many of my green/blue clothes, was they also went with my new 3Annies leather bag as seen here.

Now that’s what I call a set!

What have you bought recently that you noticed went with something else you’d bought?

BOOK STYLE: Book Depository bookmarks

JDS - BOOK DEPOSITORY BOOKMARKS

I’ve bought  a lot of books from Book depository, and from 2014 they started sending bookmarks designed by their buyers. That’s right, people could enter a competition to design a bookmark that then got sent out to everyone who bought a book. I’ve amassed quite a few as the ones on the right are piles, not just one, I’ve ended up with about 10-20 of each of them and they’re for colouring in.

I think they’re great as collector pieces and the fact that BD gave everyone a chance to do it was awesome.

Have you guys bought from BD and how many bookmarks have you managed to collect?

BOOK STYLE: My sudden addiction to buying Jackie Collins

I’ve always been addicted, I’ve read them, followed her on social media, and took her advice when it came to writing. Hell, I want to be her when it comes to my writing, and her rollicking ballsy attitude was a breath of fresh air. I even wished I owned her house, it was awesome! But all of a sudden this year, back in May, I had the urge to start collecting her books. Some weird deep down, desperate need of Jackie because I still miss her. And that quickly turned into an addiction.

I’m posting this because it is the first anniversary of her death today, and would have been her birthday on the 4th Oct.

It started mainly on May 25th, the day mum went in for her endoscope for her ulcers and I hit the op shops and second hand book stores. I scored 25 books that would have cost me a fortune to buy online. However that’s what I’ve spent, a small fortune, that ended up with doubles from online sellers not selling or sending the correct versions. I got my money back on most, but I’m out a few bucks.

Ebay, Book Depository and Abe Books, somewhere I’ve only recently started buying from, helped me get older versions that you can’t find any more. And the more current versions were easy. Of course I googled the covers and had to decide on which versions to get, as there are so many reprints. I’ve ended with with 3-10 editions of each book, depending on how many have been released.

Pan Macmillan in the UK are notorious for constantly releasing different covers and I have many. But my main goal was the hard covers in both the UK and US editions. A hard find for many. And I’m still collecting, not sure if it will ever be complete, but just like with my Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Dana Girls and Trixie Belden collections, it will (hopefully, fingers crossed), be completed one day.

Below are each batch of books and where I got them from. It’s definitely growing. I even had to boot Nancy off two shelves to accommodate JC.

OP SHOP LOT1 – 25 BOOKS

JC BOOKS OP SHOP LOT1

EBAY LOT1 – 5 BOOKS

JDS - JC BOOKS EBAY LOT1

EBAY LOT2 – 7 BOOKS

JDS - JC BOOKS EBAY LOT2

AWESOME BOOKS LOT1 – 12 BOOKS

JDS - JC AWESOME LOT1

AWESOME BOOKS LOT2 – 18 BOOKS (some weren’t the correct covers and one was a freebie. They refunded but it got sent anyway! I’ve also had to update Lovers and Players because I don’t like the name being worn off.)

JDS - JC BOOKS AWESOME LOT2

BOOK DEPOSITORY LOT1 – 4 BOOKS

JDS - JC BOOK DEPOS1

EBAY LOT3 – 20 BOOKS

JDS - JC BOOKS EBAY LOT3

EBAY LOT4 – 17 BOOKS (two are replacements as I wanted the larger ones to make them all even when standing on the shelf. I hate having a series of books all different sizes. I like them even, which is why two more will need replacing. And check out the old Sunday Simmons hc.)

JDS - JC BOOKS EBAY LOT4

EBAY LOT 5 – 16 BOOKS (A couple are replacements, again I wanted the larger versions, or the hardback versions. I managed to score Chances in UK Hardback and Lovehead the original paperback.)

JDS - JC BOOKS EBAY LOT5

ABE BOOKS LOT1 – 17 BOOKS (Some of them aren’t the right covers, which is pissing me off lately. Book sellers posting the wrong book to what they listed and then blaming the isbn. And the hardcover of Chances was stated as very good condition yet the dust jacket falls apart in my hand. Abe has since given me a refund.)

JDS - JC BOOKS ABEBOOKS LOT1

ABE BOOKS LOT2 ( I do have more of these coming but it will take a while, meanwhile, the middle book was not the cover I had bought but it will stay in the collection)

JDS - jc-abe-book-lot2

EBAY BOOKS LOT6 (Original UK Wives in silver metallic, updated power trip, wrong cover wives and finally managed to get my hands on the PanMac Bitch. I have four more books coming from ebay as we speak.)

JDS - jc-ebay-book-lot6

The bookcase shelf belongs to just the paperbacks now, as you can see how much it bows. this is the back layer of books.

jds-shelf-empty

This is the shelf full, double layered books and an awesome Jackie picture montage I made, and managed to find an animal print frame for.

ACCESSORY STYLE: New Bags for the year

I mentioned way back at the beginning of the year sometime that I thought this year was going to be the year for bags and shoes. So far, not a lot of buying but a lot of trying.

I found a lot of shoes on Styletread but all but one pair had to go back because shoes are either too short or too narrow, which is a big pity because I’ve found a lot of really nice shoes I really wanted to keep but would have been crippled by.

I’ve already shown my Naturalizer boots, so that’s only two pairs of shoes. I could have bought 5 more but sadly, they didn’t fit.

And now here are the three bags I’ve bought for the year.

It’s been hard to find a decent leather bag in the right colour for the right price, and I still haven’t found the kind of bag I want. It’s the right colours, and close to the style, but not quite right. So here are the bags I’ve bought so far.

The first is an eBay bought bag. Wrong on so many levels including the fact the seller sent me the wrong bag!!!!!

It was supposed to be half animal print but I got the black sequin instead. It’s not bad, and I got a refund thanks to eBay, but it’s not leather and not big enough. I actually bought this to throw around in the shopping trolley (cart) so it won’t matter if it rips or tears, I got it for free.

JDS - BLACK SEQUIN BAG

The second is a bag that’s rather funky and accommodates both of the metallics. Silver in body, gold in accompaniments, it’s still not big enough and doesn’t fit everything in my bag, which I might do a post about at some stage. Still good for going out though and it was only $20

JDS - SILVER GOLD BAG

The third bag IS leather, from an AUSTRALIAN company called 3Annies, and is actually a camera bag that you can use as a handbag. I found one on eBay for a hundred less than retail. PLUS it has a pink inside!

JDS - 3ANNIES.1

This is as close as I’m going to come to a bag in MY colours that’s leather, unless I have one made. As you can see from the pics moving left to right, the bag is full of all its bits that come out and all have velcro so you can rearrange and make compartments to your heart’s content.

JDS - 3ANNIES.2

Above left are the bits all out. As you can see there’s a lot of bits to use and the blue strap is padded and wide so it’s great. And then on the right is the bag completely empty.  The material is nice and thick, and it’s well padded even without the insert. As you can see I also get two front pockets and a back pocket, plus the usual inside pocket.

I actually have no idea if I’ll use this, probably more for going out and not traipsing around to doctors and shopping centres where it can get damaged.

Have you guys bought new bags this year?
