MY PERSONAL COLLECTION: New black, white and brown jewellery
These are the gorgeous jewels I’ve bought, made or remade this year in black, white and brown.
The two necklaces came from Lovisa, the crystal on the left was $9, the black and white was $7. The earrings were $7 from Lovisa and the silver pearl bracelet was $3.33 from Lovisa. The bracelet stack top right I made from a Colette howlite stack of 5 bracelets and a pearl necklace I had that I had never worn.
I got these earrings, also from Lovisa (I buy so much from there), for $10. I have a yellow pair I got early this year but when there’s a sale on, you don’t say no.
I already had my Cameo set but wanted another necklace as the chain pendant one wasn’t enough for me. I tracked down this multi row cameo on ebay for $6.99.
I was after some black bead necklaces and found some brown ones from the same eBay seller. They are actually two necklaces I simply joined together to add bulk. Two brown into one and two black into one. I prefer bulky jewels these days as small, fine pieces can get lost on me and simple pieces are way too simple. I like big, chunky, bulky.
The brown necklace is quite nice and the stones come through in the sun.
I really need to stop buying but there are so many pretty things to look at, and see, and try on, and buy….Ugh, I’m not sure I want to see how many pieces I have at the end of the year when I do my audit. Probably be hitting 2000 pieces as I was over 1700 last christmas.

BOOK STYLE: Stylish new Nancy Drews
Back in May Grosset & Dunlap released special editions of the first four Nancy Drew books. I know it’s August and I’m only just getting around to posting, but that’s because it took some time to get them here in Aus. I had to buy them through the internet as there are no book shops where I live any more to order them through. They will supposedly be available here in September but why wait?
They are gorgeous hard cover books with amazing new artwork that’s bright and colourful and hopefully G&D will be releasing more.

TODAY’S LIFESTYLE: RSL Art Union’s Golden Treasure, Draw 319
The RSL Art Union has revealed its Golden Treasure, an annual event that is usually magnificent and an apartment building. This year it features a gorgeous penthouse and apartments block in Tweed Heads in New South Wales. Tweed Heads in on the other side of the border to Queensland’s Coolangatta.
The view from the penthouse rooftop is magnificent.
Lots of yellow and blue again in this draw, and features in all of the apartments as well.
An open plan for the lounge, dining and kitchen. I’d turn the two bedrooms into an office and studio.
The bedroom and ensuite with wide open views.
As you can see by the plan and study below, it’s opposite the bedroom, so I’d turn it into a jewellery display room and have my jewels and accessories in there, making it like a huge built in dressing room.
Gorgeous views, gorgeous furnishings, pity it’s not actually in Queensland as the time zones are an hours difference, something South East Qland is trying to change so they are the same time as NSW for people who work over the border, or live there.

MY PERSONAL COLLECTION: New Blue jewellery and creations
This is all the blue jewels I’ve bought throughout the year. I have so much blue because I love the colour and can’t help myself.
Gorgeous eBay bracelet on the left for $43.34, and Lovisa cuff on the right for $7
I bought the eye bangle and stretch bracelet from Lovisa and matched them with the Semi Precious set I bought last year and put together.
I recently bought this amazing ring for $6.50. I love the way the stone has flashing specks inside, like opal.
I bought these necklaces in the last few months. The one on the left was $13.70 from eBay, the one on the right from Lovisa for $3.33. I hadn’t worn either one of them as was and I’d needed to attach the small blue stone to the necklace on the right because it was missing it’s original. So I decided to put both together…
And came up with an original JEWEL DIVAS creation no one else has. I changed the middle crystal and it looks so much better.

HEALTH & BEAUTY STYLE: Dr. Lewinn’s didn’t work for me
Earlier this year I decided to give Dr. Lewinn’s Reversaderm Micro Cellular Age Correcting Peel a go to see if I could get rid of my Golden Staph scar, thanks to a bout of it I had over xmas and New Year, see horrible infection here.
Admittedly it may have worked better had I tried the whole package of five different products, but at $40 – $60 per product there was no way I could afford $250 at least for my face. So the store assistant recommended the peel.
Considering my skin is combination and fairly tough, I actually ended up using this 5 nights a week, even though twice is recommended.
While my skin did improve slightly, as did the bags and dark circles under my eyes, I still have my red mark on my cheek. Although probably considered insignificant in other’s eyes, you know how we are on ourselves. To me it’s still a big red mark and needs to be removed.
While Dr. Lewinn’s did help to improve my skin in a small way, as I mentioned, it was probably best to use it in conjunction with the other products in the range, if you can afford the whole set that is. And maybe I’m just being fussy, wanting a full on chemical peel in a bottle. While I won’t be using this again, just because it didn’t work for me, doesn’t mean you wouldn’t have fabulous results.

MY PERSONAL COLLECTION: New Red and Pink Jewellery
With the sales from last Christmas and then tax sales through to June I have bought many a jewellery bargain this year.
The earrings are from eBay and the set on the right you’ve seen before. But I managed to get a pair of stud earrings to go with the rings and bracelet stack which I made.
LOVING these rings from Lovisa
Lovisa aztec earrings, $7, and spike earrings in for $10.
I also got the earrings on the left from Lovisa for $10 and realised they matched the necklace on the right which I got from Lovisa last year.
I managed to find the two card bracelets on ebay, and since I had the rest of the jewellery (left) figured I’d add two to my Gambling Hand set (right).
LOVING these pink necklaces, both from eBay.
The AH.MAZE.ING earrings came from Lovisa, and the bracelet from Equip. Both were $10 each.
I find it so horrible and rude when stores constantly have sales and sell their amazing goods for so little. Don’t they know how damaging it is to my wallet?
Well, not much since everything is so cheap, lol.

STYLE FAILURES: Kmart Black Leather gloves
A month or so ago I found such a great bargain from my local Kmart store. Black leather, yes, actual leather, gloves for $6, yes, $6, and I thought that was such a bargain. What made them more of a bargain is that I got them half price. That’s right, I got real leather gloves for $3!
They were roomy and furry on the inside so I wouldn’t have to take my rings off.
What makes these gloves style failures, and something I did not for the life of me notice until I went to put them on, was that they were actually the same hand. I have only just realised as I’m writing this, that I did not get a picture, but you can tell from the first one, if you imagine turning the glove around, that they were both right gloves.
Sadly, I had to return my bargain real leather gloves to Kmart and went searching for another pair. They were actually men’s gloves but neither accessory department had gloves of ANY kind.
So disappointing.
We don’t expect these kind of things to happen when we buy articles because the expectation is that the factory workers did their job properly and paired them all up, that is why I didn’t even realise when I took pictures. The expectation that they were fine blinded me to what was right in front of me. That they were both right handed.
And they were such a bargain……so disappointing!
