The wait for Swim is finally over!!

So, where did we leave off on this year’s POPFLEX swim drama? Right right, the part where my photo samples went MISSING in Memphis and I had to cancel our photoshoot.

Models were been booked, flights purchased, photographers hired. So many meticulously planned details and moving parts just… poof! Cancelled because of one package. But the worst part was that the location we reserved would not give us a credit for the space and I had to pay thousands in fees.

That’s when I filmed a video to fill you in on everything holding back this year’s swim launch. For weeks after that, the package was just stuck. I thought it was gone forever until one day… it showed up! Except…

There was another problem

Like HOWWWW was this happening after we already dealt with incorrect elastic on another swim bottom aka Sausagegate? WHY?!

This was the point when Sam and I wondered if we should just give up on swim this year. I was EXHAUSTED. But that would mean 1.5 years of development would go to waste. The design team had already poured everything into this collection. I couldn’t just let that go.

I asked you for time

And your support was everything.

Your willingness to wait was the final push I needed to work out the details and get it right. Over the past month, I nearly lost my mind catching issues and redoing pieces until the fit was perfect.

Which brings us to today, and I finally have some good news.

This year we have 15 silhouettes to choose from and I truly believe there is something for everyone.

The swim “skanty” is alive!

We brought back some faves like the Crisscross Hourglass Cheeky Bottoms and the Swim Romper, but I’m most excited for the unique styles this year. We added the most stunning drapey Tankini, a Swim Dress, AND  swim skort that I’m calling a Skanty because it has built-in bottoms. I’m wearing it with the Beach Day Bandeau which has an adjustable corset back (obsessed) and removable halter (OBSESSED)!

Clothes should work FOR your body. Not AGAINST it.

The low rise trend is so unfortunate for someone like me who just doesn’t have the flat abs you see on many models wearing this style. I wanted the Y2K Cargo Pants to work on fellow soft hip girlies without being too pinchy, too high rise or too low rise. I wanted them WIDE to avoid looking like men’s work pants. And I wanted the length to work for everyone… so 3 inseams it is!

Also noteworthy:

Stretchy, water-resistant technical fabric that won’t snag
7 pockets to hold your actual cargo
V-waistband to accentuate your waist
Elongating leg seams
Non-baggy butt

I seriously cannot believe the initial designing started on June 3, 2022! That’s 3 YEARS AGO OMG. I was losing hope along the development journey…thinking that cargo pants would be out of style by the time we figured this out! It was a toughie. But glad we made it.

I am 5’5” wearing the small, regular inseam! Get your normal sz if you plan to wear it high waisted! If you have extra soft hips and want to wear this low and extra baggy, it would be ok to size up!

Never thought I’d be dancing to Biebs to launch my new wide leggings but hey love me a 2010s revival.

On November 3, 2023 the idea for my wide leggings was born, before baggy jeans dominated the scene, and just around the time people were FINALLY getting comfortable with flares.

You would think this was an easy one to develop but no. Getting the perfect booty curvature hug to gradually melt into the perfect amount of wide leg without being too tight or too baggy took FOREVER. I honestly should show you some earlier iterations bc it was oddly very difficult.

It’s NOT a yoga pant

Got a little heated in the comments on my first post because people were like “yeah…we used to call these yoga pants.”

No.

I’m def old enough to remember the 2000s yoga pant and I can ASSURE you that these are not the same.  In fact, I bought some to show you the difference.

The shape is totally different. The Wide Legging hugs from your waist to your upper thigh and then waterfalls down, while the yoga pant has a low waterfall that isn’t drapey or flowy. Also, the Wide Legging is more than double the width of a yoga pant. Oh and the yoga pant totally doesn’t pass the squat test, gives you cameltoe, and does NOTHING for your booty.

The final nail in the coffin? The lack of pockets.

Nervous but excited for this next journey

I wasn’t sure if I was going to post anything about this, but I wanted to share this life stage with you. Many of you started doing my workout videos when Sam and I were just dating. You saw Sam get down on one knee and propose…you saw us get married…you’re seeing us build POPFLEX… and now, I wanted to share this.

“Do you want kids?”

I finally have an answer.

Sam has always wanted to be a dad. Seriously, he told me on our first date! I didn’t think much of it then because I was so focused on my career. Even when we got married 10 years later and he wanted to start a family right away, my focus was 100% on growing POPFLEX, my first baby.

We finally went on our honeymoon a few years after the wedding, and that’s when we started trying. And we tried… for 5 years. Even as pregnancy test after test came back negative, we continued to work nonstop while the business grew beyond even my wildest dreams. Which brings us to the last couple of weeks.

It’s been A LOT.

Before we could even get started, the doctor found a 3cm cyst on my right ovary. So the very next day, they put me under to drain it. I knew this journey would be an emotional one, but right away I was feeling scared and upset with my body for “not working.”

And then, there were the injections.

Needles not only make me so anxious that I tried meditation to calm myself, but I also have vasovagal syncope (basically I faint at the sight of blood or needles). Sooo the meditation actually made things worse and I hyperventilated and cried.

Time for a new strategy because I had 4-5 injections PER DAY. I’m still not really sure how I survived, but I got through it by pre-icing for 30 minutes and clamping my belly fat with my hand while digging my nails into my skin while the needle went in. Crazy I know, but it made those two weeks bearable. Of course Sam and Sir George were there to support too.

To make things worse, my friends recommended acupuncture for better results. MORE NEEDLES?! Ugh. As much as I did not want to, I gave it a try. Anything to get as many healthy eggs as possible.

And that brings us to now! It’s been an INTENSE two weeks, but I was feeling much calmer when it came time for my egg retrieval. We got 11 eggs and 7 of them fertilized! I have no clue what will happen next, but I’m excited for “dad Sam” to hopefully live out his dream.

The decision to do IVF was a big one.

It made everything real. Even though we tried for 5 years, I have to be honest with you: when the pregnancy test came back negative, I was neither sad or happy. I was neutral. I know…

Sam has always wanted to be a father with all his heart. But, for some reason, I had never wanted motherhood as bad as Sam wanted fatherhood. It’s not that I didn’t like kids, its just that the burning desire wasn’t there for me. I don’t know why being a mom wasn’t calling me the same way being a fashion designer was.

I kept delaying the possibility of having a baby by pouring everything into my work. I kept saying “I’m not ready” and “next year”. He kept patiently waiting. Now looking back, my hesitance ended up delaying Sam’s dream as he wholeheartedly helped make mine come true.

The decision to do IVF as you can see was one that brought many uncomfortable things to the surface. However, I do have a weird pattern of “not being ready” when it comes to life stages. In fact, before Sam proposed, I kept telling him I didn’t want to get married until my career was on track. He ended up proposing anyway and a new chamber of love unlocked in my heart that I didn’t even know existed. It was magical, and the timing was perfect.

Anyway, I am nervous but excited for this next journey. Sam has been so supportive through it all…and also, the women in my life really showed up over the past few weeks. I didn’t expect it at all, but their care made a world of difference. Thank you also to my doctors, nurses, and the medical team involved in getting us to the egg retrieval stage. Modern medicine and science is truly fascinating.

Did I just create something legendary?!

I’ve been waiting to share this one with you for a while now. You see, I wanted a different take on the ballet skirt. I combined my most viral waistband with the elegant mesh of my first ballet inspired wrap skort. Combining two design elements that are separately strong sometimes doesn’t work out. But in this case, the outcome was legendary.

I am obsessed with the way the soft, stretchy mesh skirt lays on the body. It’s romantic and elegant and twirls without being overly twirly if that makes sense? And then you have the crisscross waistband that has a snatching effect but in a soft, gentle way. No pinching! The shorts under have no front seam and duh they have pockets!

The Juliet Ballet Skort makes me feel so beautiful and elegant. I can’t wait to see it on you!

For my how do you pee-ers…

Every time I design a one piece outfit I get the same question/concern: How do you pee? After I launched the Go With the Flow Jumpsuit I decided that I just cannot be the sole source of info on this! But there was one thing I could do to satisfy the non-jumpsuit crowd…

Cut it in half.

Okay obviously there’s a lot more to it than that but now you can decide if you’d rather wear the jumpsuit OR the pants. Either way BOTH are available – for my jumpsuit for lyfers AND my how do you pee-ers!

So flowy, so stretchy, so SLEEK! The luxe rib fabric feels like actual butter but looks high end and I love the look of the box pleats on the front and on the booty. Do you see that waistband?! It’s clean and tailored, which was so important to get the elegant look I was going for.

I’m wearing the POPFLEX Go with the Flow Wide Leg Pants in small, regular length with flats! If you want to wear with heels, go one length up! So for example, I’m 5’5” wearing Regular length with flats but if I wanted to wear heels I’d go one length taller and grab Tall.

If these shorts upset you, they’re not for you, and that’s ok!

These are my first ever built-in panty running shorts and they are SO COMFORTABLEEEEE! You literally cannot even feel the panty! This is RARE for women’s running shorts. IYKYK. It’s so good. This design is a fave among the runners on our team and my personal go-to at the moment.

Let’s talk about the slit

I know. She’s HIGH, but there’s a reason. This allows for total free movement with zero restriction while you run. This combined with the ultra light stretchy fabric will make you feel lighter than air!

Where’s the built-in short? 

I went with a built-in panty this time! Only not like the ones in most women’s running shorts that have a seam that cut into you so hard you have a rash by the end of the run. NO THANK YOU. I made the built-in panty so soft and light that you literally cannot feel it.

…pockets? 

Imma hold your hand when I say this, but there are no pockets in these shorts. Take a moment to process.

I wanted to remove all bulk and go for light and airy with these!

I’ve been dying to share my new Pirouette Babydoll Dress with you! I first sketched this design in 2023 so it’s taken over 2 YEARS for her to come alive but she’s worth the wait because the fit is SO GOOD! She’s the most comfortable, twirliest creation I’ve ever made. I seriously feel like a blossoming flower when I spin in her. The feeling is pure fairytale joy.

An evening of boot scootin’ fun in Austin!

Did something a lil different tonight! The POPFLEX team treated our top customers to an evening of boot scootin fun in Austin! We traded friendship bracelets as happily as we traded our numbers, and left with new girl friends and matching Baby Sloanes.

It was my first time line dancing and I had THE BEST time twirling alongside the very community that built up this brand. The growth of POPFLEX has only been possible because of the people who’ve believed in us: YOU GUYS.
