Many fashion brands have a “rule” that they only get 3 prototypes then they have to go to production, regardless if the fit is not quite there yet. Why? To save money on product development and to quickly move on to the next design.

For POPFLEX I simply cannot release anything until I’m personally happy with the aesthetic of the design, the quality of the fabric and construction, and of course the integrity of the fit. That’s why sometimes things can take up to 3 years to go from sketch to website. We spend a lot of time (and money) to ensure we do everything we can to deliver you the best product, and if it’s not up to par…I won’t ever let it get released.

SHOP BUTTERFLY SHORT

I have never seen a running short look this ethereal and romantic… while still being super functional?! The outer mesh floats and flutters just like a butterfly, but the inner short flatters, supports, and holds your essentials. And yes of course they’re squat-proof and anti-cameltoe.

IN THEORY, butterfly wings are aesthetic.

So like yes I did allow that to inspire the floatiness of these shorts but that’s as close as I’ll ever get to any butterfly. From afar, I’m kind of okay with the wings. Its the abdomen (EW) and spidery looking legs that I cannot deal with. If you really look closely, they’re terrifying.

Anyway. Back to the shorts! You can run in them, dance in them, and pleaseee look at how cute they are dressed up with a sweater!

TEA TIME: The Update You’ve Been Waiting For

Hey guys!

A few months ago, I told you how I found out that Nordstrom Rack was selling a straight up dupe of my patented Pirouette Skort. Get ready, it’s tea time.

First, let’s recap what happened.

 

Basically I found out about the dupe, which is by a brand called Gottex. I sent a cease and desist because wellllll my design is PATENTED and they responded with a threat to sue ME. So I posted a video about it.

I gave them a chance to fix it.

I gave them an easy out. I told Nordstrom, “Hey, let’s turn this into an ‘enemies to lovers’ arc.” All they had to do was reach out and get the real thing in their stores. It would’ve been a win for everyone… a PR win for them, a victory for me, and a win for YOU because you’d get to shop one of our favorite things in-store!

But instead, nothing happened. Months went by with no resolution and no one getting back to me. I was tossed around like a hot potato between lawyers, retailers, and manufacturers. Like if they gave me the run around I would just… go away?

The disrespect.

The GASLIGHTING.

SHOP THE REAL PIROUETTE SKORT

Time to speak up.

We all know I wasn’t going away without a fight. After I shared the truth about the Nordstrom dupe with you all, things took a turn. News outlets picked up the story and you started showing me receipts! Turns out Nordstrom Rack isn’t the only one selling this skort, but also TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Beals. Why didn’t I know about these other stores earlier? Something didn’t add up. Shady much?

And how convenient that THIS is when the lawyers finally decided that they had time to respond. Only instead of apologizing or trying to work with me, things got worse.

The lawyer literally said, “We request that your client remove all defamatory remarks.” Excuse me? Defamation? I’m just stating the facts. They took my design, and I’m calling them out.

A Pirouette dupe at TJMaxx! How can they copy it down the the color that went viral after the Taylor Swift ICDIWABH music video and just pretend like it’s their own original design? No.

 

This should speak for itself.

The NDA.

After we finally had people talking to us, I proposed a settlement to simply end the madness. Just pay me a fair royalty, stop selling the dupe, and we’re done here.

But no.

THEY CAME BACK WITH AN NDA. And not just any NDA… this one said I could NOT talk about the situation on ANY platform. Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube… they were very specific. And if I did post about it… they would fine me $250,000. Umm excuse me?!

Hard no.

I’m not signing their NDA. I won’t be silenced and you cannot buy me.  In fact, I’m going to keep talking about this because truth is on my side, and I’ll NEVER be bullied into silence. Nice try though.

Why is it so hard to find cute tank tops?

Sometimes it’s hard to find a tank top that isn’t too basic or frumpy. That is NOT the case with this tank top.

My fave is the bow when you turn around for a dramatic exit.

From my Blogilates line at Target! The cool thing is that the bow also serves a purpose (duh)! It keeps the straps from sliding off your shoulders and you can tighten/loosen as needed. Other things I love:

The milkmaid-inspired bust with gorgeous gathering

The built-in shelf bra for added support
Wide straps for armpit pillow coverage (iykyk)

A year of love stories from the POPFLEX team

Last weekend, I visited Michigan for the first time to see Kristen, our Senior Manager of Creator Relations, tie the knot! She was a literal fairy.

And it got me thinking… Sam and I had the honor of attending FOUR weddings so far this year for people on the POPFLEX team (aka the Blogifam). I know from past experience how most of the time, people prefer to keep work life and personal life separate. In my early corporate life, inviting a manager to a wedding NEVER would have been a thing.

We have something rare and special, and I plan to protect that at all costs.

Drawing inspo from vintage swimwear, I wanted to give you a feminine silhouette that would flatter and provide coverage without looking frumpy. I hope this does it for you! It was a tough one to achieve with so many iterations but in the end, we did it!

In case you hadn’t noticed, it’s a milkmaid summer! I’m obsessed with this gathered bust because not only does it contour your boobs sooo nicely, but the tie makes it adjustable. Speaking of adjustability, you can also adjust the straps, the hem, and the corset on the back to snatch you in as much as you’d like. If you’re wondering about comfort, the double-lined inner bodysuit is finished with a clean edge. That means no pinching!

Honestly I never thought I’d wear a swim dress, but here we are and I LOVE. It’s giving vintage Barbie vibes, right?
