The Island

There is no sting as potent as this

My spirit calls out in muted tones

For a time I believed this was home

An island never sought by explorers

Not a precious mineral to be found

Lost to the star charts and maps

But a life exists there, and still

I am desire lost in a raging sea

The spent soul of a lover’s truth

Thrice burned and hard petrified

With bolts of hurricane lightning

Doused, defeated by the waves

To be alone a welcome respite

From this godless, empty place

I’ve nothing to embrace here

My letters i...

Fall

fall back into my arms and disarm

carried away by drolling centuries

returned to me by way of the sea

waking in ecstasy

as you collapse into my chest

scant memories of the fight

and a warrior who needs rest

distracted every dream

of this life and every other lived

the bitter years of your absence

they warn me of our immortality

holding your breath

a sign of the times and out of time

play for me your tireless rhythms

inhale me deeply and sing our song

until you fall back into my arms

disarmed

Seaside ~ Written With Holly

Screenshot_2015-01-23-13-59-33-1

under a sun like this one

the coast of somewhere

eyes reflecting the green sea

soft cinnamon sand

the waves begging me, stay

in a vortex of dancing rays

that light the shoals along the shore

breaking the color of my eyes and hair

igniting the iridescent surface

startled at the beauty endless

insignificant, distance too great

to swim or glide to its ends

sapphire seas climb the horizon

thundering horses flood

the shore where mother of pearl

holds the sound of the sea

beneath the alabaster...

Music Theme ~ Nostalgia: vinyl version

The delightful, Maddie chose our theme for this week. As usual, it ties in to real life. I don’t know what it is about these themes, but they almost always coincide with something that has happened during the week. This one is no exception.

Since I lost my entire music collection on Sunday, I decided to post some songs that I lost -the vinyl versions. Just so everyone knows, I may whine about this for quite some time. I am not a happy camper, and my nostalgia is through gritted teeth. It is pa...

A FAMILY IS…

This is so sweet. Thanks, Hasty!

Hard Drive Failure And Personal Recovery

It was Sunday morning. Time to figure out why the pc was acting funny.

After three hours of diagnostics, I determined that I was in the midst of a massive hard drive failure.

Here’s what I lost:

*20,000 + songs (my entire digital collection).

*Pictures and videos dating back to the mid-seventies.

*All of my art, digital and high res pictures of art I have sold and will never see again.

*All source files and photos from two previously published books.

The worst part:

*My writing: All files dating ba...

Rapture Calling ~ with Antanya St. John

image

Bubblegum oblivion, counting sheep to stay alert

Tripping on these sensational arts a welcome fate

The pins and needles hold me in a universal state

Lightning bolt aware, senses flare, blank face inert

Push forward insistently, I’m quickening the pace

Minds learn, hearts yearn, tumescent in the heat

Nerves burn, emotions turn, I sense the inner beat

Restlessness won’t release, clouded chaotic space

Rocking back and forth on a knee-skinned rock bed

Outpacing my intensity as if it were death pose slow

I...

Child Of The Sunset

image

Dear child of the sunset

Lady of anguish stilled

Dancer of bright moons

Upon whom we all gaze

Make haste, sing your song

Let it fill our atmosphere

Like a night-walk waltz

Dark won’t last too long

As suns, rise in your night

Let the emotion heal you

Every note consume you

Standing tall in our light

Gather up every shiny pearl

String them together to see

The beauty reflected so true

May the sunrise blush for you

-for my friend, Hasty . We’re all standing with you. :)

Music Theme ~ Shifting Winds

Bear was the lucky one who got to pick the music theme for this week. There are tons of songs about wind. It is a great subject for poetry since it is indifferent, invisible and never betrays its next move.

“So find out if you’re really spent

Find out if you’re out of wind

Wind out if you’re out of sin”

Im struggling, Im fighting the good fight

Keeping myself up every damn night

I keep the twilight within me from healing

That roar within that dampens all feeling

The dark keeps screaming, yanking my hair

Fingers around my throat, I gasp for air

Blackness closing in, but it cant take me

As my eyes close, my spirit begins to see

Im a phoenix with butterfly wings
