If I could kill it in cold blood, I would relish its dying breath. It would be slow like a death march dragging its feet. If it were a flower, l would take its water, maybe the sun too.

If I could kill it, there would be no more burning for it to be set free. I must have tried a thousand ways. I want it to suffer as I do when it hides.

If I go back and train myself not to feel, if I could be indifferent to its call, I may feel free. The weight is extra, it is dead. It makes me its marionette a...

Tablets As Cameras?

image

This is certainly not a new topic, but it still happens; someone blocks the view of whatever you may be trying to see with a huge tablet.

I have missed epic photo opps due to an iPad user in D.C., and have missed several minutes of my daughters’ performances for the same. There are better options, many. My tablet camera is shit, and I bet most are. My much smaller phone takes great pictures and it is hardly noticeable.

Remember during this holiday season that others might be wanting to see wh...

A Busy Blogosphere

A bit of a random post today but it’s been a great week here on the blogosphere and there’s definitely cause for celebration, as a few of my fellow writers shared some very cool news which got me so excited I just wanted to share it as well.

Not only is S.R. Carrillo’s (insanely good) debut, The Soul, now also available as a hardback – That’s right; not eBook, not paperb...

At the end of the day …. “Meaning of the Koi fish”!!

Originally posted on It Is What It Is:

Ancient Japanese lore describes Koi fish swimming up a massive waterfall called “The Dragon Gate“. If they reach the top of the waterfall, they transforms into the legendary mythical creature. This legend defines perseverance and is one of the reasons koi fish are held in such high regard.

Koi fish are a common symbol in both Chinese culture and feng shui, depicted on artwork, clothing, tatt...

Gringo Parade Is Live

image

As promised, Gringo Parade is live and ready for reading on Amazon. The Kindle version can be found here, and in paperback here. I hope everyone finds something interesting in my story. This one has been in the works for years, and almost never saw the light of day. It’s amazing what a little encouragement does for me. Yes, there are people out there who not only tolerate me, they also push me forward when I would rather sit still.

Thank you to everyone who had a personal or technical stake i...

Music Theme ~ Dragons

Screenshot_2014-11-20-08-44-59-1

Bear picked out our theme for this week. There is some really great music out there about dragons.

I like dragons. I have one tattooed on my arm that goes from wrist to armpit. It is part of the story told over every inch of skin on my arm. It is the legend of the koi. They swim exhaustively upstream until they reach the waterfall, then turn into dragons and fly away. The koi represent the struggles of life, the dragon, freedom.

Now, I am a dragon. Plea...

Gringo Parade Teaser…

Cover pic for blog

“…I keep coming back to the same conclusion; this is a gringo parade for them, and the things we throw from our floats are really nice…”

My new novella, Gringo Parade will golive in less than twenty-four hours. I appreciate everyone who gives it a read. It will be available on Amazon as an ebook and also in paperback.

This book represents so much in the way of my own personal growth and discovery; both as a writer and a man. Much to my surprise, I like it. In true artist form, I am generally no...

Passion

I could talk about this every day. I could say things like, “If you have no passion you are already dead”. Kind of like when you quit dreaming. Eventually, the man who lacks passion can never love to the fullest. Where does that leave the love of your life? It might leave her to tend her needs, her desires, and she can only do one of two things; go fetal (position), or search the many pastures available on the web or the city streets. Either wa...

Does Religion Cause More Harm than Good? Brits Say Yes. Here’s Why They May be Right.

Johnny Ojanpera:

I have found this to be true, straight across the board. Excellent writing!

Originally posted on ValerieTarico:

Most British people think religion causes more harm than good according to a survey commissioned by the Huffington Post. Surprisingly, even among those who describe themselves as “very religious” 20 percent say that religion is harmful to society. For that we can probably thank the internet, which broadcasts everything from Isis beheadings, to stories about Catholic h...
