A Storm Passing

image

I see a wind scattered storm inside, black clouds

You must be holding it back with the skill of a master

Every tear must be fighting to see the light of day

Still, you let it swirl at will until all comes clear

Tiptoeing around the eggshells of a brittle faith

Being sure to keep the dark firmly in its place

But when the devils warn of their omniscience

My darkness dims your aura, keeps your light

Let the storm clouds flood my desert-dry basins

Embrace me, his love is not your obscured secret

Living it...

Music Theme – A Race Against Time

It was my turn to pick the theme for the first day of the year. Time, and the lack of enough drives most of our lives. I don’t know many people who can say that there is ever enough of it. It is relentless.

When I listened to this song as a teen, it never occurred to me that one day time would speed up two fold when I had kids. The value of time also grew exponentially.

Wild guesses about the future aside, we all live in the past. All of our memories are drawn from the past. Everything we are a...

For Hollie

This morning I was attempting to read a few blogs from my inbox, and I came across one that was very disheartening. It was an announcement that one of my most consistent and long standing followers (also a favorite poetess of mine), Heartafire, was leaving WordPress. It seems she attracted a troll who was relentless and ugly enough to push her to close her blog.

I asked myself how a woman who writes beautiful, uplifting poetry and posts her wonderful artwork could possibly attract someone’s i...

Hiding…

image

Nat was hiding from me the other night, but her motor ran out of gas before I knew we were playing. She got a free ride to bed.

Music Theme – Possessions And The Possessed

Today’s music theme is being broadcast from my front porch. The sun decided to shine today without the aid of clouds and rain. The former has been the case for days. Maddie chose the theme for this week, and I have to say that it is fitting. There are millions of people out there today gaining material weight by the ton, and I’m sure a bit of body weight.

I had a meal last night that will allow me to go without food until Saturday. That’s the trick on the holidays; stuff yourself once, then qu...

Let it be about Love

There is no Winter Wonderland where I live,

No white Christmas for me or my menagerie.

There are other wonders that mark these days…

Rain falls outside the window like dropping tinsel,

Home smells like handmade sweets, made with care.

Excitement, happiness, and innocent wonder in my child’s eyes

Reminds me to recognize the things I have that no one can buy.

Fellowship and laughter, warm hugs from family who care,

Even reminiscing, telling stories, missing...

“Don’t be a baby
Remember what you told me

Shut up and put your money where your mouth is
That’s what you get for waking up in Vegas
Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes now
That’s what you get for waking up in Vegas”
