Music Theme ~ What The 80’s Meant

Willow chose our theme for this week. The eighties were amazing for me. I have two big sisters who, I would say, gave me an awareness of music at a very early age. Music was sacred to us. We spent hours listening to the radio, dancing like only children can; and of course there were the mixed tapes…the birth of the music video…

I think that every minute of my life has a song attached to it. I took in music as if it were as important as food. I discovered the capabilities of music, and its imme...

Fickle

image

Exhuming my prowess to light her way

Thinking I would win the biggest prize

A simple kiss on my sandpaper face

One night of ecstasy might be the best

So

Abandon me since you’ve had enough

It has been so many days anyway

Let the songs of others get you by

I took my chance and came up short

Distract yourself in love’s play dress

Surely I am the dime-a-dozen season

The hole in your canoe, the itch below

Understand that I cannot stay in tow

One more hint before I go to town

He is an empty suit in a wet t-shirt...

Staring The Sky

image

If I stand here long enough

The clouds might break

Sun may rip through

Maybe I’ll find you

In the rays cast

Soft blue

Signs Of Life

wpid-screenshot_2015-02-07-16-11-19.png

I went for a walk today and found good evidence that this winter will be behind us soon. The sun was doing its best to warm my face and the air had the slightest hint of the impending thaw about it.

I’ll show you, it’s a few steps from here…

Camelias are very dependable this time of year…

Cherry blossoms are the surest sign that Spring is close…

I even found the fabled ‘upside-down trees’…

We can all relax now, and know that life will soon spring upon us warmth and growth. :)

Murmur ~ A Duet

image

Tell me again, but not above a whisper

I am tangled in between every sound

A voice nearly as sweet as hard candy

Persistent as a bumblebee’s clamoring

My words available, however breathless

Upon an ear such as yours, exploited

A curse, even you find hard to ignore

Listen, beauty aches, misunderstood

Though I run every day with the wolves

Feral in every way but two, the deeds

The language of your heart won’t miss

Lay down your poison arrows, fire at will

Tracking control among trees, primal

Murmurs, of wis...

Music Theme – Down By The Riverside

Lisa picked our theme for this week. It makes me think of a certain Southern gospel song before anything; one that I have heard plenty of times… I would be willing to bet money that it will appear in at least two other themes today, but not here. It conjures feelings of that old time religion, and I promised myself a long time ago that I would avoid that thinking whenever possible. Memories are potent things.

Here is my take on an otherwise religious concept. No baptisms today…

Yes, it’s ELEVEN...

May

For no less than love, May, come back around

My eyes are wet and my face is so cold

Each day never waves, only flips birds

Won’t you come back to me?

I will tell April to wait until next year

March isn’t even a name

Saint Valentine had a good run

May, please come now

I’ve had too much to drink, you see

More to swallow than I prefer

Afraid I won’t take much more

Rush over me, May

Gringo Parade -Goodreads Book Giveaway!

Cover pic for blog

I published “Gringo Parade” last November, and I kind of got caught up in life and forgot to say much about it. I thought that the best way to bring it up would be to give a few copies away! I am going to sign them too!

“Gringo Parade is a novella about a group of wealthy American missionaries who take a trip to a very poor village in Costa Rica. One of the groups members is Nick, an eighteen year old boy who has his own agenda and plenty of observations about the work the group is doing. H...

The Pretense

image

This heart, it’s concertina-wrap fortification

Bomb-blast fallout shelter, let it be invaded

Breach my walls with any weapon you find

Safety made me lonlely, you may barge in

Name it a truce or even a treatise, in neutral

To keep this locked up will only strip gears

Steam-pipe bulging at every weld, release

Show me your greatest weapons, at least

Dismantle the atomics, we could be free

These materials could serve as mansions

Space to grow and see two hearts melt

Into one place, our Mercury rises today

Sk...
