Love Is Love
They don’t see it
The way we display it
On even days
Quiet on the odds
Always playing them
It pours out of us
For the sake of that thing
A feeling
An energy
Like hearts gazing
Teary manifesto
Or the invitation
Someone is waiting for it
Accidental poetry
On purpose lovely

Five Days, Five Photos -Day 5
This is Loki. He is an English Springer Spaniel. He is my shadow, as well as the only other male in my house (the cat doesn’t count -for either of us). When the estrogen ocean threatens to drown us we go outside and talk.
He’s a soccer fan like me, so we take our frustrations out on the ball. He uses his mouth when he starts losing. A ball never lasts long; Loki is unphased by a red card…

Surrender
I will follow you into darkness
Stay right where you leave me
It must mean my life’s safety
Send me off to troubled seas
I know you’ll be waiting for me
When I doubt my every ability
Define what I see so I’m sure
The meaning is what you see
And not my deluded fantasy
Take these switches, controls
Drive me wherever seems fit
All certainty is yours to keep
Teach me all I am missing
Make sure I learn it well
Save me with your grace

Five Days, Five Photos – Day 4
Gas stations have some of the best flowers -even if by accident. Crepe myrtles can grow almost anywhere with very little soil. This one seems to be thriving, and it will until the lawn care crew comes.
I was invited by Holly of House of Heart to join in the Five Days, Five Photos challenge. Thanks, Holly!
The rules are as follows: “Post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nomi...

Sweet Talk
Hold me close and swing me back and forth
I want to feel safely guarded next to your heart
Take me in with your rhythm, your native beat
I need the synchronicity I heard from the start
.
The first love that brings refreshing gales of zest
Sprinkled with the flavor of fresh azure dew
With an Aspen-high essence, front of my senses
From our place of quiet where hummingbirds flew
.
Silence caressing our senses in delightful serenity
Communication drifting upon our soulful waves
Taken aback by y...
Five Days, Five Photos – Day 3
Flowers don’t seem to mind the heat. They sit pretty all day as if the sun is no more than a spotlight showing off their delicate beauty. I think the secret lies in the roots. The cool soil is something like having our feet in a pool of cold water. Whatever the case, it is a wonder that the petals don’t wilt in conditions that can take my water and make me wilt in a matter of minutes. I’m jealous.
I was invited by Holly of House of Heartto join in the Five Days, Five Photos challenge. Than...

Confessional
If my lines are confessions
All eyes must be priests’
Awaiting my penance
Hoping it will be brief
I’ve not learned prayers
Never had sore knees
Always been a sinner
Only speak quiet pleas
Tell me you feel it too
The urge to keep it slight
Ability married to frailty
Darkness in bed with light
No matter how we write them
Whether awake or in dreams
Lines will spell confessions
And our minds wiped clean

Five Days, Five Photos – Day 2
Alabama soil, sun and rain gives us so much beautiful food to eat. This picture is of one table. There are at least twenty farmers selling fresh produce at the market in downtown Mobile. There are countless markets like this one on the Gulf Coast. With all of these amazing vegetables available, I wonder why more Alabamians don’t have healthy diets. The prices are cheaper than any grocery store and buying directly from the farmers supports our local economy.
The best part of buying local is...
