Sunday Lily
If you are a seed, plant yourself in good soil with other good seeds; the garden around you will grow beautiful, unique flowers that will inspire.
Have a great Sunday! :)

Seeker
Looking for the pieces, your desire filled
Under every shining, unlikely stone
Behind his eyes in photos obscured
You know it well and what it would mean
But you can only see
The mystery of his becalming words
His pen vexing, words still find you
But his eyes will never tell the tale
Dry ink can never again seep
His calm waters you’ll never float
A velvet tongue you’ll never taste
This one is wild like none you know
A sandstone pillow comforts his sleep
Pottery shards under bare feet

Loki’s Wisdom
As we enter the dog days of summer, it is important to heed the ‘advice’ of your dog. There is an extreme heat advidory today, and will likely be in place until late September.
Loki is very sissy smart where heat is concerned. He lets us know when the yard is too hot for playing. His advice comes in the form of laying around with a defeated look on his face. I don’t even have to watch the weather forecast to know when it is too hot to go outside to play.
Listen to your dog, he’s trying to...

Step Son
Nothing’s in my hands upturned
Brought myself and that’s all
Step dad sees to my failing steps
Assures every stop and start
He cares enough to be my parent
Gives me the sense I’m not an orphan
The loner standing in the crowd
No one’s reason for waking up
Knows I won’t ask for favors
Sent back to the place I belong
Banished as an outcast king’s kid
Savoring his every pound of hate
Swallowing it all in perfect stride
Tasting bitterness as if it sustains
Spitting out, though poison remains
I a...

#BeReal
#BeReal is not only for girls. There are plenty of guys who are just as concerned with looking ‘perfect’ and representing only a version of themselves. Not as many of us wear make-up, but it doesn’t matter; this is not an anti-makeup crusade. Lighting is as effective as makeup when it comes to showing things from the perfect angle and filters are great misrepresentation tools.
I am not a flashy person. I am earthy (I bathe), laid back but full of energy and I try to be efficient. My schedul...
The Pass
Caught in the pass
Mountain to my left
Impassable to my right
Will I embrace the legend
Hack the Mountain down
Will I dive the cliff
Know I’ll take flight
Will I stop and wait
Risk to hesitate
As night wraps me
Cold seeping in
Too much to stay
Security of ropes
A thought bygone
There is no safety
I know love will catch me

Give, Give
I have been married for twenty years. She is still the woman I would choose without a second thought. We have defied almost every statistic to date, like the 50% divorce rate in the US, as well as the 80% divorce rate of bipolar relationships. We have four amazing daughters, a dog (my only son) and a cat that leaves large insects (in pieces) on the porch for us as gifts. From the outside looking in I am sure that it appears perfect and “All American”.
Of course it isn’t perfect, but there is...
