Hi Kelley, My name is Nichole and I was just wondering if you will be doing any signings near Hamilton, Ontario. I know that you were here before and I am just wondering if you will be again. Your other signings are pretty far for me, because I don't drive

I don’t have anything in the area planned. I probably get to Hamilton on average every other year. 2013 was “all Canada, all the time” (or so it seemed) which means I’ll likely have very few Canadian events in 2014—so far my schedule is 90% out-of-country.

December 13, 2013

Friday the 13th Omens Contest

It’s Friday the 13th! Which means I’ve gotta give away a few Cainsville prizes, because the books are rife with superstitions. I’m going to give away one book—your choice of an Omens hardcover or getting on the ARC* list for Visions (I expect ARCs in the spring) I’ll also give away 3 Omens totes as runner-up prizes.

I’ll make you answer a question for this, but not from the books. We’ll go with a random & fun superstition for this.

Name one use for moss that grows on skulls. Yes, I said “moss that grows on skulls.” It’s a thing :) and in folklore, it has several “medical” uses. Name one.

How to enter: email contest@kelleyarmstrong.com and answer the question above.

Four entries will be randomly drawn from all correct responses received.

Deadline: midnight Eastern today (Friday, December 13) Not sure what that is in your time zone? Check here.

My contests are always open to everyone, everywhere. One entry per person.

Winners are contacted by email. Alison send me the names after hearing back, and I sometimes remember to post them here ;)

* ARC = Advance Reader Copy

Hi Kelley. :) First off i'd like to say i'm a huge fan of your writing style and have read many of your books. I'm also super excited for your new series that starts next month. I was wondering if you plan to ever write another book(s) about the darkest po

I have a novella starting next May (see the answer below this one) but I also have plans for a future novel when the kids reach the age to leave the situation they’re in at the end of The Rising (avoiding spoilers) Whether I do it depends on whether readers still want that in a couple of years.

Hey kelley, I was wondering if you were thinking of doing like a follow up of the darkest powers books vacates I just can't get enough if Chloe and Derek! I've read them 10+ times now (finished the reckoning again yesterday!) so yeah, pleasee!!! I'm so sad

Their story continued in The Rising—the third of the Darkness Rising trilogy. I had two groups of kids in the same situation, and brought them together to solve their shared problem. That’s why I left Chloe & Derek on the run. Unfortunately, readers who didn’t move to the Darkness Rising trilogy are still wondering why I never wrapped up that story line. With The Gathering, we really debated calling it the first in a new trilogy or book 4 of the Darkest Powers, and went with a new trilogy, which explains some of the confusion! As in my adult books, while I changed narrators, it was the same series, and the old characters did come back.

I will also be doing a brand-new Chloe & Derek novella online staring in May (free while it’s on my website!) However, it takes place after The Rising, and if readers skip from The Reckoning to the new novella, it’ll be very confusing.
