Disabled Dogs Ready to Run

My special needs ministry dogs paralyzed Miss Mercy and Miss Grace, both hit by vehicles years ago before they came into my life, were so slow and sluggish on a walk one day it appeared something might be wrong with them. Then all of a sudden they saw something they wanted to chase whereby I had to hold them back from running at full speed after what they longed to rush after. Reminds me of something we humans do sometimes when it comes to the Lord – and when it comes to sin.

Sometimes we are en...

Your Hurting Heart

Some people hold their hurt to themselves for any number of reasons whether it be worrying about people’s reactions, shame, embarrassment, pride, denial of their hurt, bitterness, fear of being hurt even more, fear of letting people get close to them, growing up in a family that taught them not to talk about how they feel, etc. Some people run around to just about everyone pouring out their hurting hearts to get love, comfort, sympathy, and pity if they’re feeling sorry for themselves. Some fall...

Delighting God with Prayer

“The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.” Proverbs 13:8

Call me desperate. I pray to God night and day. Because I have to. Because I want to. Because I need to. Because I am desperate for the Lord, for more of Him, for more of His Spirit and His Word, for more mercy, grace, peace, joy, forgiveness, oh, yes, for more of His love, for His provision, for direction and wisdom, for help and support, for guidance, for comfort and encoura...

Is Church Your Lover?

I couldn’t see it at the time, and only could I see clearly in retrospect when I finally repented, but for a long time years ago I had a love affair with church, Christianity, Bible study, my Bible, house meetings, Christians, etc. How so? I loved them more than I loved God. Even worse, I loved them in God’s place. They were my first love. Worst of all, I discovered when the Lord opened my eyes that I really didn’t have a personal intimate relationship with Him at all. I had a relationship with ...

Your Purpose in Life

When we love and adore someone, we yearn to express our love to the person, to bring pleasure and joy and goodness to the person, to bless the person, to serve the person, and to be generous and giving toward and to make sacrifices for the person, right? True love desires this, doesn’t it? How then does the love God commands us to have for Him and the exceeding love we most assuredly will have for Him once we enter into and grow in a personal relationship with Him and know Him increasingly and b...

Living to Please Yourself?

“This life isn’t about pleasing me,” I essentially told a sweet younger sister in the Lord. “This life is about pleasing Jesus.” Almost immediately I sensed I needed to write this message. So here I am.

Truth? I lived and breathed for decades to please myself – even once I came to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. But God taught me the truth and led me to repentance. His followers are to live for Him not self.

The Bible says times would come in which people would love pleasure more than they lov...

My PB & J Sandwich

Early one morning I hadn’t had my oftentimes middle-of-the-night snack and felt hungry and started fixing myself my usual once or twice-a-day peanut butter and jelly sandwich. All of a sudden I felt an enormous need to express my thanksgiving to the Lord and to write this message. All of this related to a simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Oh yes!

Maybe you don’t love pb & j sandwiches. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE them! To me they are a deliciously yummy blessing particularly because the L...

Time to Walk Away?

The Lord makes clear there is a season and time and purpose for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1), that He will give us wisdom when we ask for it and believe He will give it to us (James 1:5-8), that we are to obey Him if we love Him (John 14:15), that He will give us the strength to do what He calls us to do (Phil. 4:13), that we are to live for Him not for self (2 Cor. 5:15), that we will have trials (1 Peter 4:12) and tribulations (John 16:33) in this life, that His Holy Spirit will give His chil...

Love Songs

“I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” Psalms 104:33 KJV

Some people have bad singing voices. Mine isn’t just bad. It’s plain awful. It’s so awful in fact it almost hurts for me to hear my own voice. A childhood music teacher said I sing between keys. I believe she was being kind. I can’t even stay on a key at all not even an in-between one. But I made a decision when it comes to singing I want to share with you. I decided to start sing...
