Christmas Socks in May
In my usual multi-tasking, I was feeding my special needs ministry dogs, getting dressed for the day, keeping track of the time given I had a telephone prayer meeting that would begin in less than an hour, and thinking about this or that – all at the same time mind you. That is when I noticed I was about to put on the Christmas socks IN THE MONTH OF MAY I had pulled out of the hotel dresser drawer which did not in the least match the shorts and tank top I had grabbed quickly to put on. At least ...

Full-Fledged Follower
Some years ago a woman I knew asked me if I thought so-and-so was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ or a follower. This concept was new to me, and no surprise at that. I didn’t know there was a difference, and I had some serious repentance, changing, and growing to do! She and I were talking about someone else, but I needed to take a good hard look at this matter myself. And so I since have and now share it with you.
Jesus says many who call Him Lord won’t end up in heaven because they never t...
Can God Tell You Love Him?
For a long time I used to go around telling people I loved the Lord Jesus Christ, but any emotional feeling I may have had of love for the Lord was far outweighed by the truth.
My thoughts, words, and actions showed I lived for self not for Christ and loved this world and my sin and myself way more than Jesus. God sees every one of our thoughts, hears all our words, and sees all our actions and knows if the love we profess for Him is for real. Real love for God will be evident in our thoughts, w...
Love Story
There is no greater love in the universe than God’s love, no greater person to love and be loved by than the Lord, and no greater love story than that between the Lord and those who enter into and experience and engage in and grow in and enjoy a forever and ever relationship with Jesus the Christ!
The Lord Jesus Christ is to be our first love, greatest love, most wonderful love, and forever love!
If we love anything or anyone more than God, we not only are sinning against God and need to repent ...

Hard Times
“I heard you had a hard time in your last location [on the road for Jesus],” a brother in the Lord said one day as we hadn’t seen each other in several months and happened to cross paths.
My response was vastly different than it would have been in the past. The self-pity, complaining, groaning, etc. were absent.
I effectively told him that yes, it had been hard, but that God had done a really big work in the midst of it. In retrospect, I could see He had done one in me and through me. My heart a...
Update & Prayer Request from Lara
Dear friend,
Just over 4 years on the road for Jesus now and am currently back in coastal South Carolina with special needs ministry doggies Miss Mercy and Grace doing lots of beach, hotel, & streets ministry, writing & publishing, & plenty of praying & walking with the Lord in the southern spring sunshine! Just days ago, I felt so worn down by my life’s struggles coupled with the challenges of the ministry entrusted to me I felt like perhaps my life was winding down to a close. But a brother in...

That Nasty Lady
One day a lady was rude to me, mean to me, cold toward me, abrasive with me, and lashed out at me for no known reason. Just so happened she was manager at a place of business that had made an error months before, promised to fix it, never fixed it, and now the lady refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing, offered no apology, and was belligerent toward me. I tried to talk with her but got nowhere. I told her calmly and without anger that I did not feel she was speaking to me in a kind, compassionat...
Risking Rejection
I have been rejected so many times in my life it’s astonishing to me anyway. I am such a sensitive person that it has been hard and hurt me likely more than rejection wounds the average person. But at this stage of my life I face the possibility of more rejection than ever and am utterly willing to take the risk no matter the cost emotionally. Let me explain.
Choosing to live according to God’s ways in a manner pleasing and honoring to Him in a world in which so many people are living with their...
When God Hasn’t Spoken
When God hasn’t spoken, God hasn’t spoken. God speaks to His children first and foremost from the pages of His Word, the Bible. He also speaks to our hearts by His Holy Spirit who lives inside His followers, through others of His children, through dreams and visions, and in any other manner He so chooses. Always and only in line with the Bible. We who believe in and follow Jesus should regularly pray, seek His face, read the Bible, and listen for His voice as we strive to live in love for, devot...

God’s Goodness
God’s goodness goes on forever, and God’s goodness is manifested in each and every one of our lives in one fashion, form, or another each and every day of our lives. But how often I wonder do we truly take the time to think of His goodness, to meditate on His goodness, to reflect on His goodness, to contemplate His goodness, to consider His goodness, to praise, thank, and worship Him for His goodness, to tell others of His goodness, and to look back not just at His goodness we experience today b...
