I am in literally one of the hardest seasons of my entire life and in an extended period of extreme rest and was surprised when a few poems came to my heart to write. This one I am led strongly to share.

I Begged God for Something BUT –

I begged God to help me with something that I was enormously scared about but then something unbelievable happened.

The Lord in His awesome love and amazing mercy and exceeding kindness answered my prayer just as I desired – and I forgot to say thank you.

Only many hours later when I was reading the Bible did it dawn on me that I had no problem whatsoever begging God for help. But I sure had a problem with neglecting to thank Him for His lovingkindness and goodness in how He answered my prayer.

An Obedient Heart

Just minutes before writing this I got down on my knees in my prayer closet and repented.

Now mind you repenting is not merely telling God sorry. It is being truly remorseful over our sins and changing direction whereby we submit ourselves to God and are willing to go forward in obedience to Him. And obedience is not just about the right actions. It is also about the right heart.

This Is Really Hard BUT –

“I know this is really hard,” I heard the Holy Spirit speak to my heart.

Unbelievable what the Lord spoke next.

“But I want you to be thankful,” He finished.

What? Seriously? No way! Was God really saying this?

After all, as I write this message I am in one of the hardest seasons of my entire life for a number of reasons. And at times I cannot fathom getting through the next couple of hours. Let alone a whole day.

Now God was telling me to praise Him? To bless Him? To thank Him? To be grateful?

My Mom and the Fluff Balls

My beautiful beloved Mom whom I love beyond measure is one of the most organized and tidy people I have ever known quite unlike her daughter mind you. She was so extreme in keeping a perfectly clean house during my childhood that I was given the responsibility at times of bending down on the floor and picking up the “fluff balls” left by our family dog Bingo so they could be thrown out.

When God Tells You to Stay

When God tells you to stay in a hard relationship, a hard situation, a hard commitment, a hard place, etc., please remember this.

First, Jesus Christ is Lord. We need to obey Him no matter the cost to our flesh.

Second, God will enable us to do what He commands us to do.

Third, God has His reasons when He wants us to stay in a hard place.

Fourth, pray your heart out and ask others to pray.

Fifth, keep your heart, eyes, and ears open for what God might be doing in and/or through you when you obey...
