The Most Honest SUICIDE SQUAD Review You'll Ever Read
Let me just say this - I've seen and hated Man of Steel. I have the "Ultimate Cut" of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice on reserve via the Chicago Public Library, since I didn't want to see it in a theater. (Those who know me will tell you - I'm not a fan of Zak Snyder as a filmmaker). So I went into Suicide Squad with an open mind yesterday - many have called it confusing; several have claimed that it "doesn't suck", even going as far as to organize a Wizard World panel expla...

Mondays with Columbo: LADY IN WAITING

In the late 1960s/early 1970s, many television shows pursued "relevance"...or "writers attempting to deal with topical issues". (Hey, that's one of the reasons why I love early Ironside). So Lady in Waiting - written by Steven Bochco for Columbo's first season, looks very interesting - an effort to deal with how an heiress becomes empowered after the murder of her domineering brother.
It's not bad, per se....but the script has a very strange feel, almost like it required another rewrite.
So let...

About RED HOT # 3 By Mike Luoma/Glow In the Dark Comics

Google answers - no. I wrote about issue one here, and issue two here.
And on August 24th, Red Hot will hit issue three, concluding its first story arc. And trust me - it's a really cool conclusion.
(Plus, you can easily order through Glow-in-the-Dark's page...and catch up on Mike's other excellent work).
One of the best things about this book (which was written and letter...

Too Many Darn "Goodbyes"

However, August so far...has been tough.
First, this month marks the tenth anniversary of my father's passing. It was...well, a phone call at work. Rushing to get out of St. Louis home in time for the funeral. Dealing with a very dysfunctional position....and with the inevitable countdown to the move back to Chicago.
But this past week has also had two goodbyes - o...

Where Stories Come From: LES VAMPS

And it's ironic, because it was this publication that kicked off my "new" writing career. And it all started with a contest.
About three-ish years ago, artist Mark Wheatley (whose work on First Comics' Mars had really struck me) sponsored a contest on Facebook: write a st...

Leaving My Fingerprints Online

Like "Cowboy of the Dakotas" being published in Pro Se Productions' Pulpternative....little did I know that Smashwords would use an excerpt from my story to help readers sample the book. (And if you like it, why not buy it?)
Or the fact that the same week I was writing this Star Trek-themed post for Chicago Now,...
