That’s No Gourd – The Death Pumpkin
Obi-Wan Kenobi: That’s no gourd… It’s a space pumpkin!
Han Solo: It’s too big to be a space pumpkin!
This is, I am not ashamed to say, the best pumpkin I have ever carved. Usually my attempts have been simple faces — which almost always look… barely like a face. I attribute this to, what I like to call, “my complete lack of any artistic talent whatsoever”.
This year, I gave in and went full Star Wars. The result pleased me. Death Pumpkin looks awesome when illuminated in the dark.
Oh, and in case you’ve ever wondered what a Death Pumpkin looks like on the inside…
Also, here’s an in-progress shot. I am merely sharing it because it amused me.
Had a hard time deciding on a name. Death Pumpkin is what I settled on. “Death Gourd”, “Death-O-Lantern” and “Alderaan-Kablooey-inator” were also in the running.

Linux Poetry – Could be Fedora
I’m going to get emails about this one…
For those interested in details: The font typically used by the Fedora logo is one that is commercially licensed. I didn’t want to license a font, thus the font being used is Comfortaa (which is recommended by the Fedora Project as a replacement). The colors being used are all default Fedora colors (with a little lighting effect thrown in). Even the text colors are the official Fedora shades of grey.
And here’s the full size version for desktop backgrounds. This is mostly for the Fedora folks out there who, I am quite confident, will want to use this to spruce up their desktops.
[Don't tell anyone... but I actually rather like the latest versions of Fedora. Let's just keep that between you and me, though. I've got an image to maintain, after all.]

Linux Poetry – Debian is like Ubuntu
Last week was, apparently, the week of Linux Mint haiku’s. Time to give Debian some haiku-based love.
The font isn’t the official Debian font (did you guys know that the font used in the Debian logo is a commercially licensed one?), but the color is the official Debian color. So. You know. Legit.
And, of course, here’s a great, big 1080p sized image for whatever you’d like to use it for.

Linux Poetry – Linux Mint… Living on the edge
One more Linux Mint inspired haiku.
This haiku was inspired by this. Some people are inspired by flowers. Some people by music or sunsets or other such nonsense. Not me. I’m inspired by Open Source licensing brouhaha’s.
And, because I’m just like the super sweetest guy ever — just call me your little cuddle bear — here is the big version for your desktop background. Or wallpaper. Or whatever the cool kids are calling it these days.

Linux Poetry – Linux Mint
I present to you a random Haiku about Linux Mint. Because… why not?
Oh, and here’s a nice, big version that you can use as a Desktop Background (click to get the big .png). I’ve left “copyright blah blah” text and signatures off it… because those things can really ruin good background images, amirite?

Dark colors are cool.
I updated the look of Lunduke.com. The old theme was groovy… but a bit too bright.
So I made it darker. And tweaked it a bit.
That is all.

Dammit.
One of the traditions of Bad Voltage (a show I co-host with Jeremy Garcia, Stuart Langridge and Jono Bacon) is that, whenever someone misses a show, they must be punished.
Punishment takes the form of needing to change your avatar picture on the Bad Voltage forum for 2 weeks — to whatever picture the other 3 hosts choose. Stuart was once punished by being forced to change his avatar to a picture of a shirtless Charlton Heston.
Well. I missed the most recent episode. So, I am being punished.
My co-hosts, being the evil bastards they truly are, came up with my new avatar picture — a heart around the Jupiter Broadcasting logo.
Which… brutal. Just brutal.
[For those who don't know why this is so brutal... jeeze... long story.]
But, I’m going to take it like a man. For quite some time I’ve suggested that we should expand this punishment beyond simply the Bad Voltage forum. That we should be forced to change our avatar on the social networks as well. (Truth be told I only suggested that to bust my co-hosts balls a bit.)
Now is my chance to nut up and put my money where my mouth is.
A few moments ago I changed my avatar on Twitter, Google+ and Facebook as well.
For the next two weeks, whenever you see my posts on social networks, you will see a symbol of… love… for… Jupiter Broadcasting.
Dammit.
For those curious, I missed the show because we changed the time we were recording to work with Jono’s schedule. But, for some reason, the appointment on my calendar didn’t update. So I was outside, playing with my kiddo, when the other dudes were recording. I came inside at the normal time to record… and they were done. Not sure why (invite was updated, and I accepted it) but, regardless of the cause, I shall take my punishment with my head held high. …no matter how brutal.

Linux-Desktop-Poem-a-Week: Awesome
Below is a limerick about the Awesome Window Manager.
Because I like limericks. And I also like Awesome.
I’m writing these poems for every Linux Desktop Environment (along with an article on each over at Network World).
Because I can. And no man can stop me.

Linux-Desktop-a-Week: The Poems
I’ve decided that I am going to try living, full time, in each and every Linux Desktop Environment. I pick one, live in it for a week, then move on to the next one.
Why? I dunno. Because it sounded like fun. (And I’m chronicling the results, each week, over at Network World.)
But then I realized that I was missing a golden opportunity: To write a poem for each and every Desktop Environment currently available for Linux. Because I like doing that sort of thing. (No judging. This is the Internet : A judgment free zone.)
The first Desktop Environment I did on my “Desktop-a-Week” adventure was Enlightenment. Here is Enlightenment‘s poem. It’s a limerick. You like it very much.
Now to get caught up with poems for Awesome and MATE. After that I’ll just post one poem a week… whether you want me to or not.
