“Linux Against Humanity” – expansion set for “Cards Against Humanity”

Roughly a year ago I released a Linux-themed expansion pack for Cards Against Humanity — named, simply, “Linux Against Humanity”.

The expansion pack was released under the same license as Cards Against Humanity itself (Creative Commons BY-NC-SA), allowing anyone to download and print out their own set.  Good times were had by all.

Then I re-did my website and the old announcement pages disappeared, making Linux Against Humanity hard to find.

I’ve fixed that.

You can now grab it right from the Lunduke.com “Book Store“.  Which is a lot like a normal book store… except everything is free to download, has no DRM of any kind, and is all made available under such wonderful licenses as the Creative Commons.

You can also grab it from GitHub.  Seriously.  This is a Cards Against Humanity expansion pack with a GitHub repository all to itself.  Just how I roll.

Three things I would be dumb to not mention at this point:

While you’re over on the “Book Store” page… might as well grab a few of my books while you’re there.  They are free under the Creative Commons.  Freedom is cool.

All of my presentations – Including “ Linux Sucks “.

What this means to you:

You can download & enjoy my works.  For free.
You can modify & distribute my works for non-commercial use (so long as you give credit to me).
No DRM.  (This isn’t really new.  I’ve never liked DRM.)

How you can help me to make more books, podcasts, videos and whatnot:

Linux Poetry (+ Wallpaper) – Linux Mint

When I re-designed my fancy-pants website I neglected to re-post a lot of the random, goofy stuff that used to be here.  Poetry, wallpaper, comics… that sort of thing.

Time to-repost it.  At least… some of it.  The stuff that people asked for (or the stuff I thought was fun).  That way it has a home.

New show! “Lunduke & Whatnot (with Matt)”

I’ve joined forces with Matt Hartley to create a new, weekly, video show over on my YouTube channel.

We call it “Lunduke & Whatnot (with Matt)”.  And it is a freaking delightful romp.  Here’s a few nuggets of wisdom about this production from the heavens:

No ads.  None.  Because ads get annoying.  Fast.
The two hosts have never done a show together before — yet they have both hosted the same show at different times.  I know.  Crazy, right?

Linux is #@&%ing Weird — The Video

Back in April I attended LinuxFest NW.  As usual, it was delightful.  Got the opportunity to give a few presentations (including a Q&A on openSUSE).

My big presentation was titled simply “Linux is #@&%ing Weird“.  It was, in a nutshell, me talking about a boatload of the weird (and wonderful) devices and places where you can find Linux.  Fair warning: there are a few naughty words in here.  It’s for the grown-ups.

Phew!  The last signed, hardback copy of “Linux is Badass” has been packaged and shipped.

That was a way bigger undertaking than I thought it would be.  Next time I decide to do something like this… somebody remind me of how much work it was.  

More “Linux is Badass” books on the way!

Last month I did a big, bulk order of hardback copies of my book, Linux is Badass.  The number of you crazy kids that wanted a signed copy was absolutely, astoundingly overwhelming.

And, on that front I’ve got some great news — followed by slightly annoying news for a few of you (17 of you, to be exact).

First, the good news:  This is a picture of the very last of the books that I have left to sign and mail out.  I originally planned to mail them off within about a week of getting the books delivered to me — I had no idea how much time it would take to sign and ship that many books.  Hell, if I’m being honest, I only expected to have a few dozen of you order books anyway.  I was, apparently, very wrong on my estimate.  Took me a few weeks to sign and ship the small mountain of books… but I finally managed to do it!

The bad news: I’m short 17 books.  No joke.  I’d like to say I have a good excuse for getting the order number wrong… but somewhere along the line I missed 17 of you.  How?  I haven’t the foggiest.  I even have a spreadsheet I use to track it all.  Best guess is that I have a mild case of Dumb-ass-itis.  (This would explain a great many things.)

The better news that makes the bad news not so bad: I’ve already put in an order for those 17 books (plus an extra handful just in case I still haven’t learned how to count properly).  Those should be arriving here around the beginning of next week and I’ve set aside some dedicated time to sign and ship all 17 out right away.  Which means, if you haven’t received your copy yet, you will very soon.

I feel rather bad about the delay my inability to do basic math has caused for a few of you.  I’m trying to think up a good way to show my appreciation for those of you who were so patient for your copy to arrive.  I don’t have any good ideas yet, but am open to suggestions!  Maybe I could doodle a little picture on the inside cover of each one or something.  That way those 17 are extra, super-duper special.  Hmm.  I have a few days to come up with something fun.

Shaking things up.

The old Lunduke.com has been running for years and years.  And it was a total freaking mess; I wanted something more from it than it was possible to get.

So I archived it and started from scratch with a simple website specifically existing to make it easy to publish the kind of things that I want to be publishing.

So.  There you have it.  Pretty simple.  Nothing exciting.  Except for me.

4K Pixel Tux desktop background

I wanted a new desktop background picture.  So I made it.

This is Pixel Tux (a pixel-art version of Tux that I’ve used in my games in the past) rendered with an ever-so-slight drop shadow on a nice, dark, classy grey backdrop.  Nothing fancy.  But it looks nice.

Oh and it’s 4k in size.  So it should look good on crazy high-res screens.
