Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

It’s Thursday! And that can mean only ONE thing… it’s Linux Day on the Lunduke Show! As is our way, we take a huge mountain of questions from you, the viewer, and talk about lots and lots of Linux.

Topics include: Ubuntu Phone is getting community updates, getting tech inspiration from Sci-Fi/Fantasy books, web browser recommendations for people leaving Firefox and Chrome, the massive Ubuntu bug, burning video DVDs, a hypothetical involving Doc Brown, people selling bags of socks, tools for remotely supporting Linux machines, Chinese food on Christmas Day, & probably some other Linux stuff.

Linux vs Windows Video Production (w/EposVox & The Linux Gamer)

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

A casual, friendly discussion about the challenges facing those doing video production (such as “YouTubers”) on both Windows and Linux. Which then quickly turns into a discussion about the challenges of migrating from Windows to Linux — and how it has to be done eventually.

I am joined by wto delightful dudes who spend a lot of their lives editing video — The Linux Gamer (Gardiner) and EposVox (Adam).

Noodle Pi – Linux Powered Modular PDA / Tablet

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

In this episode I review the Noodle Pi — a Raspberry Pi Zero based tablet.  A super tiny one.  Think “smaller than a Palm Pilot”.  Modular case style, with attachments to connect thumb keyboards, gamepads… and, I kid you not, even a wrist watch strap.

That’s right.  This is a Linux device (essentially a full computer) that you can put in your pocket and wear on your wrist.  Too much fun.  I end up rambling about it rather endlessly.

Mozilla is Not Trustworthy

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

Mozilla, makers of Firefox, have proven that they, as a company, cannot be trusted.  Neither by us, the users, or by the companies that they do business with.  This is a repeating pattern of abuse of trust that can no longer be tolerated.  I present the well established facts of this… and my thoughts on how Mozilla can be saved.

“Linux Thursday – Linux is Nice Edition” – Lunduke Show – Dec 14, 2017

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

It’s Thursday! And that can mean only ONE thing… it’s Linux Day on the Lunduke Show! As is our way, we take a huge mountain of questions from you, the viewer, and talk about lots and lots of Linux.

Topics include: Being on the road for extended periods of time with Linux devices, Linux in department stores, e-ink screens, how we stay cool when Linux becomes mainstream, 12-step recovery programs for Windows users, password storage and… being nice.

Note: PulseAudio automatically adjusted my mic input levels during this recording like a dufus — resulting in me being too quiet for the middle of the show.  Did my best to correct it.  This delightfully unhelpful feature will be disabled during future recordings.

Linux Poetry Jam

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

This is, perhaps, the most ridiculous episode of The Lunduke Show.  Ever.

We’re reading poetry.  About Linux.  Written by you.  That’s it.  Because… why not?  It’s the Linux Poetry Jam.

Linux things that make us smile

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

What things about Linux (and Free / Open Source Software, in general) make you smile?  Not necessarily what things “are the most important” or “the most cutting edge”… but what brings a smile to your face?  Maybe it’s funny.  Maybe it’s amusing.  Maybe it’s heart-warming.

I wanted to know.  So I asked you.  This is what you said.  And I’ve got a few ideas of my own.

“Linux Thursday – Linux Space Piracy Edition” – Lunduke Show – Dec 7, 2017

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

It’s Thursday!  But not just any Thursday… it’s Linux Thursday!  I am joined by (the totes adorbz) Gardiner, The Linux Gamer to talk about all sorts of Linux-y and Free Software-y topics.  We start the whole shebang off by asking each other — and all of you — what the ideal way is to watch and listen to shows like ours.  Then we take a bunch of questions from all of you, including: The Linux Gamer’s favorite Linux game, what Linux Distro would power Linus Tovalds’ space ship (assuming he were a space pirate), if Solaris might have had a different fate without Oracle… and a bunch of other stuff I can’t even remember.

Rest assured, good times were had.  And it was Linux-y.

Nerd Prep – Part 3 : Installing Software without Internet (Linux & Android)

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

Your Internet connection is gone — could happen for countless reasons. Possibly for a few hours. Maybe a few days. Or, could be, for the rest of time. How do you install and update software?

Every modern Operating System comes pre-configured to install (and update) software via the Internet. I show you how to fix that and host your own software repository. Which is also handy for businesses looking to save bandwidth. What’s more, I show you how to do it using both Linux and Android. Cool, right?

Disabling Intel Management Engine w/System76

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

Last week, System76 announced that it is working to disable IME (Intel Management Engine) across their product line. Not just on new machines, but on laptops (etc) already shipped. I bring on one of their engineers, along with their head honcho, to talk about exactly how they’re doing it and what it means.

The conversation then dives into Open Source hardware, manufacturing, and their entry into the Linux Distribution market: Pop!_OS.
