Linux Thursday – Jan 4th, 2018

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

It’s Thursday!  And that can mean only one thing… Linux Day on the Lunduke Show!  Where you decide what we talk about… as long as it’s at least a little Linux-y!

My special guest today is none other than Joe Collins, aka “Ezee Linux” on YouTube.  We talk about the Intel CPU security issues, the Mozilla issues, the YouTube alternative issues, the hypothetical of if Linus Torvalds and Chuck Norris made an Operating System… and a bunch of other stuff.  Much fun was had.

Lunduke Weekly Rant – “Journalists Reporting Tech… Who Have No Place Doing So”

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

I kick off 2018 by ranting about something that annoys the snot out of me: Journalists who report “Tech” news… but have no place doing so.  Either they seem to not even know what a “Computer” is… or they don’t take 2 minutes to look something computer related up.  Drives me friggin’ bonkers.

The Future of Thunderbird w/Ryan Sipes

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

Thunderbird is one of the most popular E-Mail clients in the world.  But what does the future hold for this staple of Free Software communication?  What is the relationship between Thunderbird and Mozilla (makers of Firefox)?

I had questions.  So I brought on Ryan Sipes, the new Community Manager of Thunderbird, and asked him every tough question I could think of.

Note: The audio is quite low in this video.  There were technical difficulties.  We did what we could.

“Linux Thursday – Inkjet Printer Edition” – Lunduke Show – Dec 28, 2017

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

It’s Thursday! And that can mean only ONE thing… it’s Linux Day on the Lunduke Show! As is our way, we take a huge mountain of questions from you, the viewer, and talk about lots and lots of Linux.

Topics include: Why printers still suck, why Java and Javascript suck, why UBPorts is mad at me, how to keep from being sucked back to Windows/etc., our desert island distro, how to make “muggles” care about Free Software, why some Audio/Video/Design people won’t move to Linux or Free Software, the legacy of Edward Snowden… and a bunch of other Linux-y things.  It was a crazy show.

2017 Was a Great Year (for Linux)

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

We’ve reached the end of 2017.  And, you know what?  It was actually a pretty good year… for Linux.

Sure, you might have some complaints about politics or weather or the like… but for Linux?  It was downright fantastic.  Possibly the best year ever.  I’ll walk you through some of my personal highlights.

5 Hand-held Linux Computers Under $200 – Compared

Watch on: YouTube – Patreon (audio RSS feed)

A real-world comparison of five different sub-$200, hand-held, Linux powered mobile computers – Nokia N810, PocketCHIP, Noodle PI, Sony UMPC (UX90S), and an Android smartphone (used as a Linux terminal).

Comparing usability, speed, battery life, software availability… and general enjoyment to use. Then I ramble about them for a bit. Because they’ve all got their strengths and weaknesses.
