Start Your Handmade Business – 30 Days to Thrive Day 1

Start Your Handmade Business | Tracie Braylock

Shayla had a business idea but didn’t know where to start. She was overwhelmed by the amount of information available online and wanted direction that would help her narrow down her search and get her handmade business going as quickly as possible.

I have years of experience in online business, including marketplaces like Etsy, Amazon & Barnes & Noble. I’ve also utilized various ecommerce options on WordPress & through Shopify.

Shayla and I worked together to develop a strategic plan that en...

Searching for Fulfillment

Searching for Fulfillment | Tracie Braylock

Each day offers the opportunity to choose our next step. Each step is fueled by the information we’ve acquired up to that point in time. Each time we decide, it’s in our best interest to use wisdom and accurate information to ensure that we’re making the best decision for our future.

But what happens when you have not been given beneficial information? What happens when no one is there to guide you? What happens when you believe what you see instead of what is true?

No matter who we are, wha...

4 Tips for Overcoming an Overwhelmed Mind

4 Tips for Overcoming an Overwhelmed Mind | Tracie Braylock

Round and round you go, thinking thought after thought, chasing one answer and then another and unhappily dwelling in the space we call the mind; never coming up for air and falling deeper into the endless abyss of noise and distraction.

This type of thinking destroys your inner peace and leads to forgetfulness, indecisiveness and confusion. And your life will begin to exhibit what you are thinking.

An overwhelmed mind tells your brain that you’re in the midst of chaos and keeps your body in...

The Significance of Storytelling

The Significance of Storytelling | Tracie Braylock

Over the past few months, I’ve become keenly aware of the importance of sharing your story. I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with other entrepreneurs and nurses and writers and no matter what industry I’ve connected with, at the heart of all of them was the benefit of communication and community.

We are designed for relationship and must glean from one another in order to grow, develop and move beyond our current position. It’s as simple as sharing an idea with a colleague or friend and r...

The Roots of Purpose

The Roots of Purpose | Tracie Braylock

I’m intrigued by the roots of purpose. I mean, what causes one person to quit an affluent position to start a business from scratch to serve people they’ve never met. Or what causes another to go without food on their own table to selflessly provide for those who have even less than they do. Or those who throw caution to the wind to share their art, their craft, their passion for the world to see because it’s what they live for; it’s who they are.

What nurtures those roots? What causes one t...

It’s Time to Thrive

It's Time to Thrive | Tracie Braylock

I’m reading Thrive by Arianna Huffington. although I’m only in the first chapter, the book resonates so deeply with me.

I worked in surgery (the operating room) for many years. It was the only thing I ever wanted to do while I was in nursing school. I was able to see some amazing things and the phenomenal craftsmanship of the human bound still leaves me in awe, but the culture behind the work immediately struck a wrong cord within me.

In the beginning, I didn’t understand why the place where...

Powerful Thinking

If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought. – Dr. Caroline Leaf

This week, I have the pleasure of attending a conference with special guest Dr. Caroline Leaf. Dr. Leaf is a cognitive neuroscientist and can eloquently explain things like epigenetics, or the processes of the brain that positively and negatively switch genes on or off based on your choices and reactions.

I know, powerful stuff. I believe it’s fascinating and true. And it fully suppo...

Who Were You Before the World Told You Who You Should Be?

Who Were You | Tracie Braylock

The two of them sat alone as I walked into the room. Abruptly, he looked up at me, and spoke with what I interpreted as disdain and asked “why are you always smiling?!” I didn’t have an answer. I was caught off guard. Obviously my smile was bothersome. Obviously I shouldn’t be happy without cause. Obviously I should immediately stop smiling because it doesn’t seem welcome here.

It’s hard to believe it’s that simple. It’s hard to believe that a question or tone or thoughtless words can plant...

Mindful Eating

Mindful Eating | Tracie Braylock
Stop. Think. Eat.

Slowly. Intentionally. Thoroughly.

The practice of eating food on purpose to nourish your entire being – mind, body, spirit – this is mindful eating.

When was the last time you: Slowed down long enough to savor your food? Noticed every bite, look, taste, feel, smell? Lingered at the table, not rushing off to check another thing off the to do list?

Eating should offer healing and a true sense of well-being. It’s an opportunity to enjoy the present moment with full awarenes...
