In Sri Lanka, Tzu Chi Distributes Food to Over 1,000 Households
On July 5, the Sri Lankan government declared bankruptcy. On the 9th, more than 100,000 people stormed the presidential residence to demonstrate their anger. On the 14th, the President officially stepped down. An economic crisis has led to shortages of gasoline, medicines and food in Sri Lanka, and prices of basic foods have more than doubled within six months.

Tzu Chi Helps Ukrainian Family Have a Better Life in Poland
After Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, tens of thousands of Ukrainians fled to friendly Poland. Marika and her two daughters arrived there in March. She feels settled in Poland, but she wishes so much she can wake up in her familiar bed tomorrow and start her day in Ukraine.

In Jordan, Tzu Chi Helps Syrian Mother to Help Others
"During a home visit in 2013, she was crying in front of us, holding clothes covered in blood. Smelling the blood from them, she said that her son's blood was more fragrant than perfume..." Chiou Hwa Chen, CEO of Tzu Chi Jordan Branch, recalled the first time he met Ismahan; her son was called Ali. He felt again the pain that pierced his heart during that home visit.

Tzu Chi’s Love and Care for Syrians Extends from Jordan to Canada
Najila, a lawyer and single mother of Syrian refugees, fled to Jordan in 2011 with her only daughter Lana, her mother, and the family of her brother. However, her daughter's hearing was damaged by the bombing of the plane. At that time, she sold all her gold and household goods in an attempt to find assistance -- but no charity organization was willing to help her. In April 2014, Najila found Tzu Chi and became one of its long-term charity care recipient.

Tzu Chi and Camillians Care for Ukrainians in Lomianki, Poland
Most of the Ukrainian people were sad and melancholy on Mother's Day and Children's Day this year. On June 4, the Tzu Chi volunteer team in Poland, together with social workers and clergy of the Camillians, arranged a parent-child activity in Lomianki Shelter Center in the west of Warsaw, the capital. They hoped that they could smile again.

The war has raged for more than 100 days and has not subsided. It has caused economic turmoil in Europe and across the work – posing great challenges to refugee aid work.
Tzu Chi’s Good Affinity with Mozambican Entrepreneur Cabir
Several cyclones hit eastern Africa at the beginning of 2022. Cyclone Gombe made landfall in northern Mozambique in March, affecting more than 410,000 people in Nampula province. It killed 55 people and injured more than 80 people. Mozambique Island, off the country’s north coast, was the hardest hit.

The typhoon season is approaching. In order to prepare disaster relief operations ahead of schedule, on June 22, Tzu Chi Foundation and Carrefour, a large-scale retailer, signed an MOU to provide jointly relief for emergencies.

Groundbreaking Ceremony of Mozambique’s Largest Secondary School
Because of Cyclone Idai in 2019, a deep affinity was formed between Tzu Chi and Mozambique. The Foundation launched a construction aid program in the country, from disaster relief to charity, medicine and education, after the disaster.
