(Perfectly Oversized) Plain White Tee

oversize white t-shirt

Seriously, I can’t think of a very good reason why I would wear anything other than this every single day for the rest of my life. Why mess with something so wonderful?

Oversized white t-shirt?

Perfect.

Cropped-but-not-too-cropped (and low-waisted-but-not-too-low-waisted)leggings?

Perfect.

Add some leg-lengthening nude pumps (or flats, if you’re keeping with the I-am-comfortable theme) and a bright purse, and you have the best uniform IN THE WORLD.

(Plus, you can wear this to sleep and then go run...

Links & Love & Stuff

Screen Shot 2014-01-24 at 8.27.54 AM

:) Starting a new project! (I was going to hold off a few more weeks to start so I could do either a pink or a blue explosion, but I fell so in love with this rainbow wool – mine is #7824 – that I couldn’t wait.) Want to knit along with me? This is a fun, easy pattern.

:) Looking for an awesome, classic everyday watch for an also-awesome price? Here you go.

:) Kendrick told me a couple of days ago that when I am pregnant, I am like the nice and evil Gollums having a conversation with themselves. T...

When You And Your Partner Have Different Schedules (A Little On Loneliness)

lonely-heart

Q. Hi Jordan,

I’ve been dealing with some new circumstances as a newlywed, and I was wondering if you could help. My husband and I have exact opposite work schedules. I am alone at home a majority of the time and we often go days without seeing each other in a state of consciousness, and I find myself getting lonelier and lonelier. I’m a very social person, I have a really fulfilling job, we have a dog, and I work out all the time, but it’s a totally new type of experience when the house feels...

Coming With Me To San Francisco

I’ve always been a pack-way-in-advance-of-departure kinda person, but when you have a 6 1/2 hour flight with a toddler on the horizon?

I’ve been packed since Saturday. And I don’t leave until tomorrow (tomorrrrrrowwww! I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER SOME SUNSHINE PLZ).

Oh, and this time? I remembered the extra pants.

carry on bag

Some more things that are coming in my carry-on (clockwise from far left):

- My son’s rainbow stroller blanket (click here for the how-to), which doubles as an excellent chilly airplane cover...

How To: Subtle Bottom Lid Eyeliner

cat eye makeup

Interested in trying out lower-lid eyeliner, but in a more subtle way?

Me, too.

This is what I’ve been doing lately when I feel like going a little more dramatic than my usual top-lid-liner-only look.eye liner

Screen Shot 2014-01-24 at 12.10.01 PM

1. Start with a sweep of pale shadow (beige or light pink) across the entire lid, and blend a medium-brown shade into the crease with a soft shadow brush.

2. Apply a thin swipe of brown-black liquid eyeliner to the entirety of the top lash line, widening the line at the outer edge and extending the...

How To Wear White In The Winter

Screen Shot 2014-01-24 at 8.27.41 AM

I’m a big white-in-the-winter person (as we saw yesterday)…a big white-all-year-round person, actually.

Really: is the “don’t wear white after Labor Day” even a thing, anymore?

I don’t think so.

But it is a littletricky: go for pieces that are too light and breezy, and you risk a tourist-just-off-the-plane-from-Bermuda vibe, rather than the chic effect you’re more likely going for. So let’s talk how to do it!

Back To Black

dark eyeliner

Aging is an interesting thing.

It’s something that I’m thinking about more and more as I’m moving towards my mid-thirties, both in more abstract “am I happy with where things are” ways and in more superficial “where did that extra wrinkle come from” ways. I’m not scared of aging, not exactly – mostly because if there’s one thing these past few years have taught me is that life is capable of throwing some serious never-saw-them-coming surprises your way, and that’s an exciting thing to look for...

In The Quiet

snowy day

A couple of years ago, my friend Stephen and I were hanging out on a cold winter day, complaining about the weather and how we didn’t want to go outside or do anything, really, except for stay right where we were on the couch, and he said, “You know what? Enough of this hating-winter stuff. We should make some hot chocolate.”

And that’s stuck with me ever since, because it instantly transformed the moment from “trapped in the house and bored” to “cozy and relaxed.”Instantly.

Fresh flowers on th...

I Would Like To Announce…

unfroze pipes

That I just unfroze the pipes in our basement all by myself.

LIKE A PROFESSIONAL.

(It’s not actually that hard.)

P.S. The reason why I’m wearing a robe in the middle of the afternoon is not that I am a slug, but rather that the temperature our basement is hovering around arctic, and my robe is warmer than my winter coat, go figure.

The Kindness Of…

Winter Storm

Yesterday was bad.

I had an ultrasound appointment up in Connecticut, and planned to be back home by 3, before the storm was supposed to get really severe. I made it most of the way back with no traffic or snow at all, but around Stamford (about half an hour from our house) the cars on the highway came to a virtual stop, and the blizzard picked up in what felt like seconds.

Two and a half hours later I had gone three exits, my phone was dead (and I had brought the wrong charger), and – worst of...
