A Writer’s Life: When You Must Face Reality

Sometimes wishing is't enough

Sometimes, just wishing isn’t enough. Sometimes, you have to stare at your career options wondering if it’s worth it to pursue a degree in Creative Writing, whether or not you’ll be able to make a living with that, or settle with giving priority to something like law school, or medicine, or… anything more profitable.

High school is over, and it’s time to really think about what you’re going to do.

This is something I went through recently, and I chose to go with the second option. I chose t...

The Unpopular Opinions Tag | Ha Ha

I wasn’t actually tagged for this, lol, so feel free to do the tag to if you want!

Let’s Get Started with the Unpopularity!

A popular book/series you didn’t like:

Yikes, you’re going to make me say it, Pam. Okay, I’ll do it. Don’t hate me people! I didn’t like the Shatter Me series, by Tahereh Mafi. *gasp*

HarryPotter-Shock

I actually did like the first book. It was full of promise. But I don’t know, the excitement just flopped afterwards.

A popular author you can’t seem to get into:

Haha. That would be Ma...

Life After A Good Book + Review: The Start of Me And You, by Emery Lord

Life: The time it takes for a booknerd to pick up another book.

So, I just finished reading The Start of Me and You, by Emery Lord literally a few minutes ago. And while it doesn’t compare to the sensation of finishing the Lumatere Chronicles. No, I’ll never get over that one. No 5 steps of denial there. Just one long anguish.

But, let’s not get sidetracked. The Start of Me and You.

While it doesn’t compare to that certain sensation, it was an incredible book and very moving in its own right...

7 Things I have Learned this Year about Blogging

Blog Design isn’t as Scary as We Think

As I said when I postedThe Makeover: New Header, New Button, New Posts, you can always have control of how your blog looks, regardless of your knowledge of HTML and CSS. I started out with a free wordpress theme that I liked, and when the fact that I couldn’t go beyond the customizations the settings panel offered me started to irk me, I started checking out blogs that had tutorials on small DIY adjustments. Like how to change the default gravatar icon,...

Twitter Chats: Headache or Heaven?

Twitter Chats- Headache or Heaven

I spent an absurd amount of time wondering if the title rhymed. I decided that it does, so just bear with me.

It’s an universally acknowledged truth that a newbie in twitter will be undoubtedly in search of a way to make twitter chats seem less like this:

OuFvD

Because that was exactly how I felt when I joined my first Twitter chat. There were so many people sending out replies, and all these questions being asked at the same time, and I wanted to be able to do it all!

Twitter chats are tons of...

A Writer’s Tales Turns One Year

Blogoversary

Exactly 1 year ago, the hosting account for A Writer’s Tales was created. I didn’t have much idea of I was doing back then. Neither do I now. But I’d like to think this has been an awesome year in a lot of ways. I’ve come a long way from that first blog post when I was sure no one would ever read this thing. And I’m very happy. :)

And the best part: It’s just the beginning! I’ll allow myself to celebrate for a whole month, because god knows I need more creative ways to avoid doing homework.

P...

Summer Blogger Promo Tour 2015 Wrap-Up

SUMMER BLOGGER PROMO TOUR

This was my first time doing the Summer Blogger Promo Tour, and I was delighted with the idea when I first heard about it! I’m happy to say I’ve enjoyed it very much. It was stressing at times, but that’s just because I’m a supreme procrastinator. I think the assignation of groups and the email with the info and schedule were time correctly. That time between the email and the start of the tour was super valuable to start setting things up!

The thing I’m the most happy for is having met a wh...
