Store Up Your Treasure by Giving It Away

“Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and should give happily to those in need, always being ready to share with others whatever God has given them. By doing this they will be storing up real treasure for themselves in heaven—it is the only safe investment for eternity!”

1 Timothy 6:18-19 (TLB)

Your generous giving is a premise to one of God’s generous promises. He promises that when you give, you’re not really losing anything. God is actually storing it up in heaven.

“Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and should give happily to those in need, always being ready to share with others whatever God has given them. By doing this they will be storing up real treasure for themselves in heaven—it is the only safe investment for eternity!” (1 Timothy 6:18-19 TLB)

You can know that God has a bank account for you in heaven because Jesus mentioned it five times— and if God mentions something five times, he must really want you to get the message. Jesus uses the repeated command to store up treasure in heaven because he wants you to understand that it’s the most important thing you can do with your treasures here on earth.

So when you give to God or you give to somebody in need, you’re not losing anything. Your treasure is actually growing! Only in the kingdom of God are you storing something up by giving it away.

It’s important to plan for your future. But even more importantly, you need to start thinking about your eternal bank account in heaven—because that one’s going to last forever!

How do you fund that eternal investment? How do you store up treasure in heaven? Jesus says, “Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home” (Luke 16:9 NLT).

Any money that you give in the cause of Christ, you’re actually investing in eternity. If you invest in other people so that they have a relationship with Jesus, then one day you’re going to get to heaven, and you’re going to hear, “Thank you! I’m here because of you. I’m your friend for eternity!”

You can’t take it with you, but you can send it on ahead. Store up your reward in heaven by being generous with everything you’ve got so that others can hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

What does your bank statement reveal about what you treasure on earth?
How can you shift your mindset to focus on storing up your treasure in heaven and not on earth?

God loves you, no matter what you’ve done.

Because we’re human, we’ve taken Satan’s bait and been hooked into sin more times than we can count. But no matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know that when I die I’m going to give an account of my life to you directly. I confess I have ignored you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins and turn toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all that I’ve done wrong so I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I ask you to save me from the sins and the habits that are messing up my life right now. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly, certainly, completely, and eternally. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Las Personas Sabias Hacen Preguntas y Luego Escuchan

“Como aguas profundas es el consejo en el corazón del hombre, Y el hombre de entendimiento lo sacará”. Proverbios 20:5 (NBLA)

Si quieres ser sabio, aprende a hacer preguntas sabias.

Proverbios 20:5 dice: “Como aguas profundas es el consejo en el corazón del hombre, Y el hombre de entendimiento lo sacará” (NBLA). En otras palabras, todo el mundo tiene algo que enseñarte. Así como vale la pena el esfuerzo de sacar agua de un pozo profundo, vale la pena el tiempo y la atención para sacar sabiduría de otra persona.

¿Cómo sacas la sabiduría de cada persona? Aprendes a hacer preguntas inteligentes.

Mientras viajaba por el mundo, le hice preguntas a los taxistas y a los primeros ministros, y ambos tenían cosas que enseñarme. Si sabes las preguntas correctas que debes hacer, ¡puedes aprender de cualquiera!

Una cosa de la que me he dado cuenta es que nunca aprendo nada mientras hablo. Si mi boca se mueve, no estoy aprendiendo. No aprendes cuando estás hablando; aprendes cuando estás escuchando. Así que tienes que aprender a escuchar.

El presentador de televisión estadounidense Larry King dijo una vez lo siguiente: En un programa de entrevistas, si el presentador habla el 50 por ciento del tiempo, algo anda terriblemente mal. El anfitrión debe escuchar más y hablar menos. Un buen presentador de televisión plantea la pregunta y luego solo escucha.

He realizado muchas entrevistas a lo largo de los años y he notado que cada vez menos anfitriones siguen los consejos de Larry King. Más a menudo, los programas de entrevistas tratan sobre el entrevistador, cuyo objetivo es llamar la atención sobre sí mismo, y no sobre los invitados.

En tu vida, sé más como el anfitrión que ha aprendido a escuchar. Conviértete en una persona que cree que puede aprender de cualquier otro.

Solo tienes que estar dispuesto a hacer buenas preguntas y luego escuchar. Esa es la marca de una persona sabia.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

Trata de pasar un día entero enfocándote en escuchar en lugar de hablar. ¿Qué diferencia hace?¿Qué le comunicas a alguien cuando le haces una pregunta y luego escuchas la respuesta con atención e interés?Para extraer sabiduría de las personas, debes aprender a hacer preguntas sabias. ¿Cuál es un ejemplo de una pregunta sabia?

Hablando de preguntas importantes, ¿estás seguro de adónde irás cuando mueras?

Muchas personas temen a la muerte, en parte porque no saben a dónde irán cuando mueran. Pero Jesús vino a salvarte de ese miedo a la muerte.

La Biblia dice que cada uno de nosotros peca y que la pena del pecado es la muerte. Pero Dios te ama tanto que envió a su Hijo, Jesús, para pagar la pena de tus pecados, para traerte a la familia de Dios y salvarte del temor a la muerte.

Si estás listo para entrar a la familia de Dios, aquí hay una oración con la que puedes comenzar: “Querido Dios, sé que cuando muera, te daré cuenta de mi vida directamente. Confieso que te he ignorado. Sé que he pecado contra ti y he vivido según mi plan, no el tuyo. Quiero que eso cambie, comenzando ahora mismo. Quiero alejarme de mis pecados y volverme hacia ti.

“Gracias por enviar a Jesús a morir por todo lo que he hecho mal para no tener que pagar la pena que me tocaba a mí. Sé que no merezco tu perdón. Sé que solo tu gracia puede salvarme, Señor.

Jesús, gracias por amarme tanto que tomaste toda mi culpa sobre ti. Tú me hiciste aceptable para el cielo, y te pido humildemente que me salves. Te pido que me salves de mis pecados y de mi miedo a la muerte. Yo creo en ti, Jesús. Y creo que cumplirás tu promesa de salvarme instantánea, certera, completa y eternamente. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

How to Get God’s Blessing on Your Work

“Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the first and best part of all your income. Then your barns will be full, and your vats will overflow with fresh wine.”

Proverbs 3:9-10 (GW)

God’s promises are so good!

Not only does he promise to bless you personally when you give generously, but he also promises to bless your work and your business.

Proverbs 3:9-10 says, “Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the first and best part of all your income. Then your barns will be full, and your vats will overflow with fresh wine” (GW). The first part of that verse is the premise: You give your tithe. The second part is God’s promise: When you tithe, God will fill your barns to overflowing.

Now, most people don’t have a barn to fill to overflowing or even vats to fill with the finest wine.

In Bible times, almost everyone was a farmer. Whatever their barn contained represented their business and investments and livelihood. If the barn was filled, it was a sign of great success and blessing.

God is saying that if you learn to be generous, he will bless your business and your work. He will bless your career and your investments. As I mentioned yesterday, sometimes those blessings will be material. But many times they’ll be the spiritual blessings that come from a generous heart. The Bible also says in Proverbs 11:25, “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed” (NLT).

If you own a business, do you want it to prosper and increase in profits? If you’re an entrepreneur or a venture capitalist, do you want God’s blessing on your new projects? Of course you do. If you want God’s help, not just in your family but also in your business, then you have to fulfill the premise of his promise. You have to be generous with your resources.

“Give freely and spontaneously. Don’t have a stingy heart. The way you handle matters like this triggers [God’s] blessing in everything you do, all your work and ventures” (Deuteronomy 15:10 MSG).

Generosity triggers God’s blessing on your work.

Para Volverte Sabio, Pasa tiempo con Personas Sabias

“Camina con sabios y te harás sabio, júntate con necios y te meterás en dificultades”. Proverbios 13:20 (NTV)

Si quieres ser sabio, invita a gente sabia a tu vida.

No necesitas muchos amigos. No necesitas ser popular. Solo necesitas algunos buenos amigos que te edifiquen, no que te destruyan, que sean sabios, no tontos.

Si andas con tontos, en eso te conviertes. Pero si pasas tiempo con gente sabia, te volverás más sabio. Es como el viejo dicho: “Si quieres volar con las águilas, no puedes correr con los pavos”.

Las personas crecen mejor en comunidad. No puedes crecer a la madurez espiritual por ti mismo.

Podrías convertirte en monje y trasladarte a la cima de una montaña y pasar tu vida en silencio y leyendo libros. Crecerás en conocimiento, pero no crecerás en sabiduría.

¿Por qué? Porque la sabiduría tiene que ver con el amor. La sabiduría aparece principalmente en las relaciones. Es por eso por lo que muchas personas tienen títulos académicos, pero sus matrimonios se están desmoronando. Son educados, pero no son sabios.

La Biblia dice en Proverbios 13:20, “Camina con sabios y te harás sabio, júntate con necios y te meterás en dificultades” (NTV).

Si me paro en el borde de un escenario y trato de levantarte mientras tú intentas bajarme, ¿qué es más fácil de hacer? Siempre es más fácil para alguien derribarte que levantarte. Las personas que te derriban no son tus verdaderos amigos. Los verdaderos amigos te levantan. Te alientan en tu búsqueda de la sabiduría divina ofreciéndote la suya propia.

¿Tienes a alguien en tu vida que comparte su sabiduría regularmente? Necesitas ese tipo de aliento en tu vida si quieres ser una persona sabia.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Quiénes son las personas más cercanas a ti? ¿Cómo te están animando en el crecimiento espiritual y la sabiduría? ¿Cómo te distraen de aprender a vivir sabiamente?¿Con qué persona sabias te gustaría cultivar una relación más profunda? O, si eres un cristiano mayor y más maduro, ¿con qué creyentes más jóvenes te gustaría invertir tiempo?¿Es más importante para ti tener muchos amigos o unas pocas relaciones que sean profundas? ¿Por qué crees que esto es así?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? You Can’t Out-Give God

“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

Luke 6:38 (NLT)

When you give from a heart for Jesus, your goal isn’t to get a blessing. But the truth is that God will bless you.

You can’t out-give God. When you learn to be generous like God is generous, he promises that you will end up with more. This is God’s economy.

Sometimes it seems like God is saying: “Let’s see who can out-give the other. You give to me and to other people, and I’ll give to you—and we’ll see who wins.”

And God always wins! He says over and over in Scripture that you will end up with more if you learn to be generous. Sometimes those blessings will be material. But sometimes they’ll be the spiritual blessings that come from a generous heart.

Jesus says, “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back” (Luke 6:38 NLT).

What is Jesus saying here? Imagine you’re going to a market to buy grain. You bring a burlap sack and pay to have the whole sack filled. As the shop owner is pouring grain, you press it into your sack. Then you gently shake the sack so the grain settles down even more. You want to fit the maximum amount of grain.

Jesus is saying that God’s blessings are the same. When you give generously, he’ll give so generously that you’ll have to make room for more.

He gives in full measure—and then some—when you learn to be generous like him. The way you give to others is the way God will give to you. He wants you to be generous because he wants you to be like him. You can’t become more like Christ without learning to give generously.

This is one of the most important decisions you will make: Is your life going to be about giving away what God has blessed you with? Will it be marked by a joyous desire to grab hold of God’s promises as you let go of the things of this earth?

“The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” You determine how much God blesses your life.

Alimenta tu Mente con la Verdad

“El sabio tiene hambre de conocimiento, mientras que el necio se alimenta de basura”. Proverbios 15:14 (NTV)

Si quieres llegar a ser sabio, lo primero que tienes que hacer es alimentarte de la Palabra de Dios todos los días.

Proverbios 2:6 dice: “¡Pues el Señor concede sabiduría! De su boca provienen el saber y el entendimiento” (NTV).

No obtienes sabiduría de la televisión. No la obtienes de Internet. No la obtienes de las revistas. La sabiduría viene de Dios.

La Biblia dice: “El sabio tiene hambre de conocimiento, mientras que el necio se alimenta de basura” Proverbios 15:14 (NTV). Puedes alimentarte de la verdad o alimentarte de basura. Cualquier cosa con la que llenes tu mente es lo que va a salir: basura entra, basura sale. Entonces, si quieres ser sabio, aliméntate de la verdad todos los días.

Hay tres tipos de cosas con las que puedes alimentar tu mente: veneno, comida chatarra o comida saludable.

El veneno, simplemente, es algo que envenena tu sistema. Es malo para ti. Te derriba. La pornografía es veneno. Algunas personas dicen: “Puedo ver esas cosas. No me molesta”. ¡Ese es el problema! Cuando puedes mirar y leer cosas que son profanas, blasfemas, malvadas, viles y abusivas y no te molestan, tienes un problema. Estás contaminando tu mente.

Las personas sabias protegen su mente. No permiten que cualquier cosa entre en su mente. Mantienen el veneno fuera.

La comida chatarra no es ni buena ni mala. Simplemente no tiene ningún valor nutricional. La mayoría de las cosas que ves en la televisión no son malas. Es solo comida chatarra. Es lo que yo llamo “relleno”. Pero el problema con el relleno es que cuando te llenas de relleno, no tienes hambre de verdad. Si ves la televisión durante cuatro horas, tu mente está llena de calorías vacías que no ayudan a tu cuerpo ni a tu mente.

Los alimentos saludables son alimentos nutritivos. Te ayuda a crecer y mantener tu salud. La verdad es el alimento saludable para tu mente, por eso la persona sabia se alimenta de la verdad. Te hace más sabio en tus relaciones, tu tiempo, tu dinero, tu negocio, tu paternidad, tu matrimonio y todas las demás áreas de tu vida.

Para alimentar tu mente con la verdad, el primer lugar al que debes ir es a la Palabra de Dios. Cuanto más desarrolles el hábito de pasar tiempo cada día leyendo y estudiando la Biblia, más sabio te volverás.

¿Qué tipos de comida chatarra permites que llenen tu mente?¿Qué diferencia ves en tu día cuando pasas demasiado tiempo viendo la televisión y en la Internet que en la Palabra de Dios?¿Qué paso práctico puedes tomar hoy para ayudarte a hacer de tu tiempo devocional una prioridad para que puedas alimentar tu mente con la verdad?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Lasting Change Requires a Small Group

“Tell each other the truth, because we all belong to each other in the same body.”

Ephesians 4:25 (NCV)

When you decide you want to make a change, you may be eager to jump in and start the process on your own. But you’re never going to succeed without the support of a few trusted people in your life. God did not make us to go through life alone. We’re better together.

Lasting change requires community. There are some things in your life so big that you need a team to tackle them. In American football, an opposing player may be so big that no one person can bring him down on their own. It takes several players working together to tackle him. In the same way, you need people who will support you and help you tackle some tough areas in your life. You need a small group.

A small group is just that—a small group of people. You can’t be honest and transparent about big changes in your life with 25 people. But you can find a group of five or six people that you can be authentic with. You don’t have to bare your soul with everybody you know. You don’t need to tell everybody what you’re working on—but you do need to tell somebody.

If you’re serious about changing, growing, and resetting your life, then you’re going to have to face your fear about being gut-level honest with just a few people. The moment you tell just one person about the changes you believe God wants you to make, you get instant power you never had in any other way. You have someone to walk with you through it. You have someone to help carry the emotional load.

Ephesians 4:25 says, “Tell each other the truth, because we all belong to each other in the same body” (NCV). What is this “same body” where we all belong to each other? It’s not your neighborhood or your work or your school. It’s God’s family. And, as a Christian, you belong to God’s family.

You will only become what God wants you to be by sharing your life with a small group of people who will love you, hold you up, and encourage you as you reset your life.

If you are not part of a small group, what step can you take today to start finding or making plans with friends that can be your support? This may include asking a couple of friends out for coffee or praying that God would show you friends that also need the support of a small group.

¿Por qué Deberías ser Generoso?

“Como resultado del ministerio de ustedes, ellos darán la gloria a Dios. Pues la generosidad de ustedes tanto hacia ellos como a todos los creyentes demostrará que son obedientes a la Buena Noticia de Cristo”. 2 Corintios 9:13 (NTV)

Como seguidor de Cristo, ¿por qué es tan importante ser generoso?

Aquí hay tres maneras en que puedes tener un impacto en tu vida:

Te hace feliz. Hechos 20:35 dice: “Hay más bendición en dar que en recibir” (NTV). El mundo te dirá que serás más feliz cuando recibas. Pero Jesús le dio la vuelta a esa idea y dijo que serás más feliz cuando das que cuando recibes.

Simplemente tiene sentido. La Biblia dice en 2 Corintios 9:6, “Recuerden esto: El que siembra escasamente, escasamente cosechará, y el que siembra en abundancia, en abundancia cosechará” (NVI). Quieres que otras personas sean generosas contigo. Pero ¿crees que sembrando egoísmo podrás cosechar generosidad de Dios y de los demás? Dios dice que esa no es la manera en que funciona la vida. Hay una ley de siembra y cosecha. Si quieres cosechar generosidad, tienes que sembrar generosidad.

Muestra al mundo cómo es Dios. La Biblia dice: “Como resultado del ministerio de ustedes, ellos darán la gloria a Dios. Pues la generosidad de ustedes tanto hacia ellos como a todos los creyentes demostrará que son obedientes a la Buena Noticia de Cristo” 2 Corintios 9:13 (NTV).

Descubrí que la mejor manera de aprender a ser más generoso es recordar la increíble generosidad de Dios. Incluso cuando la vida es difícil, siempre puedes encontrar los dones de Dios cuando los buscas. Mira el mundo en el que vives. Mira la vida que te dio. Mira la forma en que Él satisface tus necesidades.

Dios es el modelo perfecto de generosidad. Y cuando eres generoso con los demás debido a la generosidad de Dios hacia ti, diriges a otros hacia Dios.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Cuándo fuiste más feliz dando algo que recibiendo? Por otro lado, ¿cuándo te bendijo la generosidad de otra persona?¿Cuáles son algunas maneras en las que puedes sembrar generosidad en tu vida?¿De qué manera Dios ha sido generoso contigo? ¿Cómo le muestras tu agradecimiento?

Si no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más?

La gran generosidad de Dios se refleja en su don de salvación a través de Jesucristo. Tus pecados te separan de Dios. Y es solo la gracia de Dios, a través de Jesús, que puede devolverte a una relación correcta con Él.

La Biblia dice: “Dios los salvó por su gracia cuando creyeron. Ustedes no tienen ningún mérito en eso; es un regalo de Dios. La salvación no es un premio por las cosas buenas que hayamos hecho, así que ninguno de nosotros puede jactarse de ser salvo” Efesios 2:8-9 (NTV).

Si estás listo para hacer las paces con tu Creador, entonces haz esta oración:

“Querido Jesús, no quiero que mi pecado me separe más de ti. Has prometido que si creo en ti, todo lo que he hecho mal será perdonado, aprenderé el propósito de mi vida y algún día me aceptarás en tu hogar eterno en el cielo.

Confieso mi pecado, y creo que eres mi Salvador. Has prometido que si confieso mi pecado y confío en ti, seré salvo. Confío en ti cuando dices que la salvación viene por gracia, por medio de la fe, y no por nada que yo haga. Te recibo en mi vida como mi Señor.

Hoy, te entrego cada parte de mi vida”.

You Can Change Your Mind

“Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.”

Ephesians 4:23 (NLT)

Lasting change requires new thinking. The battle for change is won or lost in your mind! Ephesians 4:23 says, “Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes” (NLT). Spiritual renewal takes place in your thoughts and in your attitudes—or, in other words, in your mind.

Here’s how it works: Feelings aren’t feelings in themselves. They are a response to a thought. It’s what you think that determines the way you feel. And what you feel determines the way you act.

If you want to stop a self-defeating behavior by changing the way you act, then you first must change the way you feel. But you can’t just change your feelings and tell yourself, “I’m just not going to feel that way anymore.” That doesn’t work. The only way you can change a feeling is indirectly—by going to the root of it, which is a thought.

In other words, you can change the way you act by changing the way you feel. And you can change the way you feel by changing the way you think.

There’s a biblical word for this process: repentance. The word “repentance” comes from a Greek word, metanoia. Meta means “to change,” and noia means “mind.” Repentance simply means you change your mind. That’s all there is to it!

You tell God that you want to go a different direction, and you ask him to help you choose to think about right and good things. If you change the way you think, it will change the way you feel, and the way you feel will change the way you act. It’s a reversal of your mindset—a mental U-turn.

The Bible says in Philippians 2:5, “Think the same way that Christ Jesus thought” (CEV).

What you think is a choice. And choosing is the beginning of changing. When you put on the mind of Christ and begin to think about the things he loves, then you will start to see your defects in a very different light.

Ask God to help you see him, others, and yourself the way he does, and you will start to see the changes he wants to make in your life.

Talk It Over

Think about the last time you experienced a strong emotion. How did your thoughts affect how you were feeling?
What’s something in your life that you need to repent of—to change your mind about—today?
How can you know the good and right things that God wants you to think about?

God loves you, no matter what you’ve done.

Because we’re human, we’ve taken Satan’s bait and been hooked into sin more times than we can count. But no matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know that when I die I’m going to give an account of my life to you directly. I confess I have ignored you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins and turn toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all that I’ve done wrong so I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I ask you to save me from the sins and the habits that are messing up my life right now. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly, certainly, completely, and eternally. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Perdona Porque Eres Perdonado

“Sean comprensivos con las faltas de los demás y perdonen a todo el que los ofenda. Recuerden que el Señor los perdonó a ustedes, así que ustedes deben perdonar a otros” . Colosenses 3:13 (NTV)

Mostrar gracia a los demás es lo que Dios quiere que hagamos, pero no siempre es fácil porque a menudo nos enfocamos en nosotros mismos.

A veces es más fácil ser egoísta que ser amable. Tal vez veas al empleado lento en la tienda de comestibles como una interrupción de tu día en lugar de alguien que podría estar luchando por mantener su trabajo, o que acaba de recibir la peor noticia de su vida.

Es posible que veas a un miembro de tu familia que está luchando en este momento como una carga para ti en lugar de alguien que se siente desesperado por una situación dolorosa. O ves a la persona que te cerró en la autopista como lo peor en lugar de alguien que necesita del amor de Dios.

Todos necesitamos el amor de Dios. Por eso Jesucristo vino a este mundo. Vino a mostrar gracia a la gente. La forma definitiva en que Dios hace esto es a través del perdón. Y la última forma en que te pide que muestres gracia a otras personas es perdonándolas.

Colosenses 3:13 dice: “Sean comprensivos con las faltas de los demás y perdonen a todo el que los ofenda. Recuerden que el Señor los perdonó a ustedes, así que ustedes deben perdonar a otros” (NTV).

La gente a menudo me pregunta: “¿Cómo puedo encontrar la fuerza para perdonar? No la tengo en mí”. ¡Yo tampoco la tengo en mí! El único lugar donde he encontrado la fuerza para perdonar es recordando cuánto me ha perdonado Jesús. Cuando recuerdo eso, Él me da la fuerza y ​​la gracia para perdonar a los demás.

Un amigo le recordó a Clara Barton, fundadora de la Cruz Roja, algo especialmente cruel que alguien le había hecho años antes. Barton parecía no recordarlo, y el amigo preguntó: “¿No te acuerdas?” Su famosa respuesta fue: “No, recuerdo claramente que lo olvidé”.

¿Qué necesitas olvidar?

Si no perdonas, no disfrutarás de la visión de Dios para el resto de tu vida, porque la falta de perdón te mantendrá atrapado en el pasado.

Perdona, y luego continúa con tu vida. Esto no significa que no deba haber consecuencias por lo que alguien te hizo. Simplemente significa que dejas ir tu ira y tu dolor y se lo das a Dios para que puedas seguir adelante con el propósito de Dios para tu vida.

Cuando eso parezca imposible, cuando sientas que no puedes ser amable con alguien, recuerda esto: Jesús te perdonó. Recordar la gracia que Dios te ha mostrado te dará la fuerza para ser misericordioso y perdonar a los demás.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

Cuando decides perdonar a alguien que te ha ofendido o mal tratado, ¿cómo afecta a esa persona? ¿cómo te afecta a ti?¿De qué manera el resentimiento y la amargura te impiden cumplir tu propósito?¿Qué es algo que necesitas perdonar y dejar ir para que puedas seguir adelante con el propósito de Dios para tu vida?

¿Has recibido el perdón de Dios?

No importa lo que hayas hecho o dónde hayas estado, tienes un lugar listo y esperándote en la familia eterna de Dios. La invitación está abierta. Solo cree y recibe.

¿Estás listo? Aquí hay una oración con la que puedes comenzar:

“Querido Dios, sé que cuando muera, te daré cuenta de mi vida. Sé que he pecado contra ti y he vivido según mi plan, no el tuyo. Quiero que eso cambie, comenzando ahora mismo. Quiero alejarme de mis pecados y volverme hacia ti.

Gracias por enviar a Jesús a morir por todo lo que he hecho mal, para no tener que pagar la condena. Sé que no merezco tu perdón. Sé que solo tu gracia puede salvarme, Señor. Nunca podría ser lo suficientemente bueno para entrar en un lugar perfecto.

Jesús, gracias por amarme tanto que tomaste toda mi culpa sobre ti. Me hiciste aceptable para el Cielo, y humildemente te pido que me salves y me hagas parte de tu familia para siempre. Yo creo en ti, Jesús. Y creo que cumplirás tu promesa de salvarme de manera instantánea, completa y por toda la eternidad. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.
